30 Day Vlog Challenge - Say Whaaat?
Some of you may remember me from my post on what I learned from doing a 30 day blog challenge. If not, give it a quick glance over to see some of the highlights from the month I refer to as the 'bootcamp' for blogging.
Today I'm coming to you offering a new personal challenge, which is 'that' of doing a 30 day VLOG challenge.
Yes, you heard right. Video blog.
These things are beasts, and they take a ton of time, and I can't imagine how I'm going to do 30 in a row during the next month. Hell, I've only done 13 my entire time as a photographer!
In either case, I've come to embrace the fact that video is going to be a major player in online marketing - and I figured it was a great idea to get comfortable with it early on. There is a lot of potential with the capabilities of video blogging, and I think the ones who take advantage of it in the earlier stages are going to be reaping the rewards once the mainstream comes to them for advice and guidance.
To be honest with you, when I did my first video blog - I freaked out completely and literally threw my camera back in it's bag, banishing it from taking video from me ever again. I felt really awkward making a video - talking to no one but a piece of technology staring me flat in the eye - and I thought to myself, "this just isn't for me".
It wasn't until I submitted my entry for Jasmine Star's creativeLIVE workshop that I finally started to see some of the benefits of video. I couldn't believe how much fun it could be, and it was awesome realizing how much personality you can convey with editing and special effects. Not only that, but there are some huge advantages in terms of online promotion regarding making your own videos - and starting today, I'm about to take a month to explore those very ideas.
In an effort to encourage others on how easy and accessible it is to make a video blog, I'll be doing a 30 day vlog challenge over the next month. In the first week, I'll discuss the "IN's and OUT's" of video blogging and give you some tips on how to get started. I invite you to join me on this crazy adventure into figuring out all the benefits of video blogging - I have no doubt in my mind the lessons we learn will be worth their weight in gold. In fact my vlog tips this week will be perfect for those of you hesitant to make submission videos to be part of the creativeLIVE studio audience! You still have time to submit a video to be in Jasmine Star's upcoming creativeLIVE workshop - submissions are due Monday April 2nd! If you need some more tips from the J* Jets who were Jasmine's studio audience last time, watch this video!
As an extra incentive for this challenge, I've created the domain 30DayVlogChallenge.com to feature all the participant's daily vlogs into one combined entry. You can still post on your own site, but I figured that this would be a great way to help people connect and share what people are talking about. In addition, I'm betting that the site will get a lot of attention and promotion from those that are involved. If you can't tell, I'm really excited.
For specific details and rules, head on over to the main page to check it out for yourself. If you have any questions or want tips on getting started, please feel free to email me at email@example.com
This is going to be one crazy month!
