One year ago a real wedding was broadcast live over the internet for the world to see right here on creativeLIVE. Laura and Billy were selected as the bride and groom for Jasmine Star's Wedding Photography Workshop. The entire wedding from start to finish was planned in only four weeks and broadcast over a live feed. As a way of congratulating Laura & Billy we asked Jasmine and her in-person students how their businesses had grown and lives changed in the past year since the creativeLIVE workshop. We also asked Laura what it was like to have Jasmine Star as her wedding photographer. On behalf of the entire creativeLIVE community, Happy Anniversary to Laura and Billy!
"One unreal experience. For those of you who don’t know, a year ago, my husband and I got married live on the internet. We won a contest that provided us with our dream wedding for free. It was part of a wedding photography workshop offered by creativeLIVE with uber famous and talented rockstar photographer Jasmine Star. Today marks the one year anniversary of the first day of the rest of our lives. I’m so thankful for everyone who made our “I do’s” possible. Jasmine connected with us. She KNEW us. What we see in our wedding images is our connection with each other… and that was made possible because we are relaxed and comfortable with her. She took the time to learn about our family and friends and made them feel important and included. We saw that, we noticed that. She must have asked me 5 or 6 times on my wedding day how I was doing, how I was feeling, did I need anything? She and JD (and maybe another photographer or two?) made a point to take a gorgeous portrait during cocktail hour of every guest that attended our wedding. Our images might not be heavily composed, or lit, or photoshopped. They might not be cutting edge poses, or something you haven’t seen before, but they are of US, and we cherish them because they remind us of how we felt on our wedding day, of how our photographers made us feel while we were taking them, of how we felt toward each other, of how our guests felt about being there. These are all things that make our experience as her clients unmatched. We will forever be evangelists for her and her business."

Everyone who watches creativeLIVE knows we're a live, worldwide creative classroom. It’s you, our community, who make this possible. Since the earliest days of creativeLIVE we’ve received requests for video clips of our courses that can be shared and embedded into blog posts. We’re happy to announce that over the coming days and weeks, we’ll be rolling out a slew of clips on the creativeLIVE YouTube channel to honor your requests.
To mark the occasion, we’re marking down the price of these workshops by 20%, to $119 each.
Check out these two awesome teachers who enriched the creativeLIVE experience with their knowledge of photography.
Jasmine Star rocked the creativeLIVE house with her intensive five-day Wedding Photography Workshop. If you missed the live experience, you can still have a front row seat. This course offers a unique opportunity to watch a real live wedding and learn firsthand what it takes to be a successful wedding photographer. In five days Jasmine covered everything you need to know including shooting the first look, the wedding party and family, candids, details, posing, second shooting and more! As a social media and branding whiz, Jasmine also taught the importance of knowing the business side of wedding photography inside and out. Watch a few clips and get a taste of her magic!

We are so honored to have Tamara Lackey back in the Seattle studio for her second creativeLIVE workshop this September 9th & 10th. During Tamara’s first Children’s Portrait Photography workshop at creativeLIVE she demonstrated her magical touch with children. She also taught us how as photographers, the key to being successful is to be able to tackle the business side of the industry. This time around Tamara is dedicating 2 high energy days to Taking Care of Business! She is going to teach us everything we need to know to turn our art and passion into a flourishing photography business.
With 20 video submissions from some amazing potential students, Tamara found it pretty difficult to choose only six people. There were so many great submissions, we definitely felt her pain. We would like to thank everyone who submitted a video for her creativeLIVE workshop. If we don’t see you in the studio we will definitely see you on the interwebs catching the free workshop live. After much anticipation, we are so excited to announce the six audience members of Tamara Lackey’s Taking Care of Business workshop! Congratulations to everyone!

“I’ve been a huge creativeLIVE fan for a good while now but this is the first class that I’ve actually been compelled to make a video for to try to attend…I need to attend this class!”

Mark Wallace - What's in the Bag?
Everyone wants to know…”What’s in the bag?” Mark Wallace was generous enough to show us what’s in his bag! During creativeLIVE workshops, viewers are very interested to see the gear the professionals use. As photographers, we love gear! When deciding what type of camera, lenses and lights you need, the best place to start is to decide what kind of photos you want to take. As Mark says, the contents of his bag change depending on the type of shoot he’ll be doing. Once you decide what type of photography you enjoy, you can narrow down the options of what to buy.
Many thanks to ALL of you filmmakers who submitted your edits! With 100 submissions that can be viewed here on Vimeo, it was very challenging to select a winner. A huge thank you to Redrock Micro for giving away a Vincent Laforet Indie Filmmaker HDDSLR rig configuration for the "Choice" edit contest!
How did Vincent make his choice? Vincent Laforet comments on selecting Aaron Green's edit to win:
Join Tamara Lackey in Seattle to Take Care of Business September 9-10, 2011
We have some great audience submission videos so far. You still have time to create and submit YOUR video for a chance to learn from Tamara Lackey in person. The deadline is this Friday, August 19th! Tamara is returning to creativeLIVE next month to teach us all how to Take Care of Business in her free online live workshop. Tamara will dig into the massive amount of work involved in running a successful photography business. She will walk you through the fundamentals of business one piece at a time in this high-energy course. Learn how to turn your brilliant ideas into plans, take action and see results.
Mark and Diane Wallace actually encourage the team at their Snapfactory studio to fail, but ask them to "fail with purpose." Don't we all wish every employer felt the same way?! While visiting the creativeLIVE studio in Seattle, I talked with Mark about what his 3-day workshop is going to cover. Curious? Just watch the video!
Join us for a LIVE ONLINE workshop with Mark Wallace as he dissects a commercial photoshoot from start to finish. A studio shoot can get a lot more hectic once you introduce a big team into the mix: producers, models, make-up artists, art directors, clients, runners, etc. Luckily for all of us, Mark is bringing most of his team from Arizona to Seattle so we really get a firsthand look at the professionals he collaborates with on a daily basis. Want to experience a live commercial photoshoot for a real client? I do! On day three of the workshop Mark and the in-person students will do just that. A live commercial shoot for a REALreal client? Yep, you heard me. Mark is actually looking forward to making mistakes so that we can all learn from them on his behalf. As I like to say, there are no failures, only learning.
Join David Nightingale in Seattle for Dramatic Images + Practical HDR October 7-9, 2011
The Mark Wallace and Tamara Lackey studio audiences are full. We are now calling for video submissions for THREE TWO upcoming workshops with David Nightingale and Rick Sammon! Keep reading for details on how YOU can have the time of your life in Seattle learning from these amazing instructors in person.
