creativeLIVE Inverted Panorama: How Did John Greengo Do That?
John Greengo asked all of us to bring a camera, tripod & 35mm lens to our office holiday party this week. But he wouldn't tell us why. John arrived early, set up some lights and did some test shots. He still wouldn't budge on revealing his secret group project! My curiosity was killing me as I tried to guess what it could be. Once everyone was there and we had enough cameras to bring John's vision to life, he spilled the beans and meticulously set up the group shot. Brilliant! How did he do it? Here's John's explanation:
What's the deal with this weird Panorama? This is an inverted self-timer panorama.
To create this photo we enlisted 8 cameras and 8 tripods and put them in a large circle with our group gathered in the middle. Our 8 photographers then fired the cameras' self-timer at the same moment or at least very near the same moment and rushed to get in the photo. The 8 photos were then placed in order and laid out in Photoshop. The final photo is a bit weird as you can see some people from two different angles, but I think this makes it kind of fun. The idea came when I realized we were going to gather a bunch of photographers and would likely have a whole bunch of cameras in the same place at the same time. I was just hoping to create a unique group photo, one that I couldn't create on my own.
Thanks John and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to our entire creativeLIVE community worldwide. Thank you for ALL of your support this year. We wouldn't be an interactive global classroom without all of YOU actively participating from all seven continents around the world! We can't wait to share with you all that's coming to creativeLIVE in 2012!
