Project Yosemite Timelapse & Behind the Scenes Documentary

Posted on February 1, 2012 - 3:39pm

Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty were two strangers who met on Vimeo. They both love Yosemite and are both passionate about timelapse photography. They set out to capture the extreme landscapes seen in Yosemite in a very special way. From dramatic sunrises to teeny tiny climbers on Half Dome to the Milky Way across the clear night's sky, the timelapse video from their collaboration on Project Yosemite is breathtaking. Find out technical, music credit and more details about the video on Vimeo - http://vimeo.com/35396305.

What's REALLY cool is they brought Dalton Runberg along to help them tell the story behind the story. Here's where the learning comes in. The behind the scenes documentary dives into the challenges and joys of timelapse photography. Yes, the gear is cool. But what strikes me most is how Sheldon and Colin describe that timelapse photography isn't at all just about the final product, but SO much about the experience. It takes patience and a willingness to just BE in the moment while the camera captures those moments for you.

Are you passionate about timelapse photography? Post a link to one of your projects in the comments!

p.s. As his Twitter bio says, I think Sheldon should make bumper stickers made saying "I'd rather be timelapsing." ; )

Wow, this is absolutely beautiful. I think that the time lapse photography really adds to the beauty of Yosemite. Thank you so much for sharing this and I hope that I will have the pleasure of seeing more in the future.

Yosemite and its various games is such a beautiful place so the time lapse photography really works well especially for the nighttime sky which is so amazing looking.

Sheldon and Colin did an amazing job. As a Yosemite and Sierra local, I'm very impressed with and inspired by their work. I also recently released a time-lapse video featuring a lot of images from Yosemite and the Eastern and HIgh Sierra. Would love for anyone to check it out! Enjoy!!! ~ http://shawnreeder.net/blog.php?cid=8
