Special Modeling Call: Newborn with Down Syndrome
Dear creativeLIVE community, I have a special request.
This Mother's Day we are hosting a free online workshop on Newborn Posing with Australian photographer Kelly Brown. Kelly will be leading several live photo sessions with newborn baby models during this workshop (here are full details on that workshop). I would like to include a newborn model with Down syndrome if we can find the right family.
This is personal for me. My daughter Pepper is 13 years old and has Down syndrome. creativeLIVE would literally not exist without her impact in my life. My experiences and learnings being Pepper's dad are enmeshed in the founding DNA of creativeLIVE. If you are a long-time creativeLIVE fan you may have seen Pepper and her brother Wyatt on breaks during our various workshops, or as models for Tamara Lackey, Sandy Puc, and even Zack Arias (check out Zack's final segment to see my entire family).
My wife, Melody, and I were prenatally diagnosed, so by the time Pepper was born we'd already done a lot of the mourning for the loss of our "perfect" child. We were lucky to have the support of some amazing people and organizations during that time. If there is a prenatally diagnosed mother who is emotionally ready to share the gift of her child with the world this coming Mother's Day, I would do anything I could to make that possible.
The odds of this coming together in time are astronomical — and I need your help to get the word out. The babies modeling for this upcoming workshop have not been born yet. We'd need to be contacted by a special family who has been prenatally diagnosed, so they know they are expecting a child with trisomy 21. The timing of the birth would have to be approximately April 25 - May 4, 2013 for that child to be the right age to model in this workshop. And they would have to be able to be in Seattle for Mother's Day weekend.
Please share this post on Facebook, Twitter and other social media groups. You may not know it, but your share could have a huge impact in someone's life who is about to be touched by the unexpected gift that is Down syndrome. It's a rare and privileged group of parents chosen for this opportunity, and I would like to showcase some of that beauty during this workshop.
If you are an expecting parent who is prenatally diagnosed for Down syndrome, with a due date approximately April 25 - May 4, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like your child to be part of this special event being broadcast from Seattle.
Thank you for helping make this possible.
