Zack Arias's Doppelgänger

So, you know Zack Arias, right? He's taught two workshops here at creativeLIVE? The first one was a Studio Lighting workshop and the second was on the Foundations of a Working Photographer? Maybe? He's the photographer with the beard? There ya go.

Anyways, at the end of Zack's Foundations of a Working Photographer workshop I took his portrait using bits of what I learned from his first workshop and bits of what he told me right then and there. I kinda had the light where I wanted it, but I didn't quite get the effect that I wanted. Zack picked up the light stand and without looking set it back down. I snapped the picture again and the picture on the left is basically SOOC. He knows his stuff.

After taking his picture, learning more about lighting, and growing my beard out for a couple months I decided I was going to repay Zack by shooting his doppelgänger. Me.

For those who don't know, a "Doppelgänger" is basically a look-alike. I wanted to do everything I could to make me look more like Zack, so I asked creativeLIVE's Adam Bauer to give me a tattoo similar to Zack's. Here's a shot of my tattoo:

I set up the shot exactly the same way I set up my previous shot with Zack and the result is pretty awesome! It almost seems like we could be related? :]

People around the office had to do a double take when they saw me, if only Zack had popped into town when I was doing this self portrait of me as his doppelgänger. Maybe I'll goto some event that he plans on going to and see if people think I'm him? What do you think??

So now that I have that all said and done, flash forward a couple months later and David Nightingale is at the studio teaching our Dramatic Post-Production workshop. At the end of the workshop, Craig comments to me that David's beard is a lot like Zack's and says he'd make a good doppelgänger too! So, David and I got together the next day and made this happen:
