Day 4: Draw What's in Your Bag

(upbeat bouncy music) Hi, my name's Kate Bingaman-Burt, and this is 28 to Make. For this project we are going to draw the stuff that's in our bag. A lot of times when we are thinking about starting a creative project, it's actually really difficult to think about what am I going to draw. What am I going to make? And so this really acts as a good kick-start for bigger ideas when everybody carries a bag. Let's draw what's inside the bag. So there's lots of options. You could draw the bag, you could draw if there's pins on the outside of your bag, you could draw the pins on the outside of your bag, open this up, we've got lots of stuff going on here. I've got a hat, you could draw a hat. Gloves, you could draw some gloves. I have headphones in here, keys, keys are great to draw. (keys clanging) And so you don't have to draw all of the stuff that's in your bag, you can just draw some of the stuff that's in your bag. And, for example, for this first initial drawing, again, all you need ar...

e your favorite drawing utensils and paper. This is just a quick example of some of the stuff, gross lipstick, ewww, I really need to get a new tube, my library card, iron pills that I hate to take, some mascara, and then my headphones are drawn into the drawing too. Another option for this project if you want to maybe make a little bit of a bigger drawing, is that you could start with one sheet of paper, but again, don't have the pressure put upon yourself to finish an entire huge drawing. Do it in stages. So get a larger sheet of paper and maybe draw item every single day and then over the course of a week or so, you're gonna end up with a large drawing of everything that's in your bag. Again, this project should only take about 20 minutes (upbeat music) and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you have been making and I'm really nosy and I wanna know what's inside your bag, so don't forget to share with the hashtag 28 to Make and have fun. (bouncy music)

I was looking for a way to get back into the habit of creating. The class has some fun ideas for projects that are easy to work on, which is super helpful. Every day I was excited to see what my new project was! But...a few seemed to not be what I considered sketching or drawing and didn't seem to fit the description. Overall, very helpful though :)

I just loved the way this was presented and the immediate connection of the videos and their content which helped me discover and try things I would not have thought I could do. The affirmations from others doing the same thing and being able to gather ideas from the 'sharing' bit was also important for me. I have gained a lot creatively and it has fired parts of my imagination that lay hidden. I am just sorry it is formally over. I missed the last x3 sessions and the portfolio bit due to illness but will complete the other tasks and will continue explore developing those that really opened a creative slot for me. Above all thanks to the tutors - each of you - I loved the content you chose and the enthusiasm and creative energy you conveyed in just a few moments and the generous attitude of the skills share. That's it - Thank you, would recommend to anyone not to miss this opportunity.

Best course ever on Creative Live. It's the foundation for doing anything or everything creative. Even if you think your only creative interest is say photography ...and you're not a drawer, maker or artist of any kind ...think again. This course will open up your mind and you will discover that actually you are a creative and you can pick up a pencil and draw... and it doesn't take up much time... 10-20 minutes a day. In the beginning it's not about the end result, it's about the doing and how it sets something off in your brain. It will make a huge difference to everything else you put your hands and mind to in life.
