Thinking of getting this camera...
I have been planning to purchase this camera - I'm just a hobbyist at this point but am becoming more and more serious and want to upgrade from my Rebel XSi. I have heard that there are focusing issues with the 7D and wondered if John Greengo would be able to comment on that. I already have trouble getting focus with my Rebel (with my handheld shots - I'm not very stable) and so don't want to upgrade to a body with focusing issues. I am enrolled in this class and want to pre-order the video if the 7D is a good choice for me. Thank you - loved John's Fundamentals of Digital Photography - still working my way through the sessions!

I've not heard of any problems with the 7D focussing, nor have I've experienced any with mine, yet (not that I've had it that long).
You may be thinking of the 5D MKii, which is known for having focussing issues, mainly difficulty in lower light conditions.
Kim I upgraded last year from XSi to a T2i and am amazed at the better images I get. My brother has the 7d and his are better yet. I still use realitivly inexpensive lenses 50 1.8 and a 55-250 kit lens and my brother has L glass 24-70 and 70-200 2.8is and it shows. The lens is a huge part of the quality. I just love the better iso performance in the better camera body. Oh and the better color in the review screen.
I recently went from the 400D Rebel XTi to a 7D and I am amazed at the quality. I only to photos socially and am really looking forward to learning more on how to use the camera to really see the capabilities. As above all my lenses fit too so was relatively hassle free switching.
I upgraded from a Rebel XSi to the 7D and LOVE IT!!! Best move I ever made! I am also hobbyist photographer and this camera has a lot of functions I may not know how to use yet, but I am learning more and more about it and am looking to this class to help me out learn more! You will love the camera because the lenses move from the XSi to the 7D with no issues....
