Introducing a Better Way to Re-Set Creative Energy: Alo Moves x CreativeLive

A 2014 study conducted at Leiden University found that mindful-meditation led to an increase in innovative thinking and the generation of new ideas. Yoga has been said time and time again to aid in developing the right brain. Not only does this boot artistic creativity, it may also enhance our ability to see the big picture and find surprising solutions to difficult problems. In today’s world, stress can be all-consuming and can be detrimental to creative habits or the creative process. Even the most dedicated side hustlers should take time for self-care and wellness.

That’s why this summer, CreativeLive is excited to kick off a new partnership with Alo Moves — your destination for the best yoga and wellness classes, offering thousands of classes with world-class instructors. Advance your practice with vinyasa, ashtanga, hatha, and yin or strength, flexibility, and core-focused instructional videos.

Together, Alo Moves and CreativeLive, have curated ten restorative and active yoga classes to re-focus the creative mind. Below, meet some of the world-class instructors who will help infuse balance and wellness back into your lives:

Name: Briohny Smyth

Style of yoga you teach: Fitflowfly Vinyasa Yoga

How does yoga add creativity into your life? Yoga helps slow down my monkey mind so I can be more present. And being present increases my creativity. So it’s a win-win!

Favorite pose: Handstand and savasana

Name: Kristin McGee

Style of yoga you teach: Vinyasa

How does yoga add creativity into your life? It continually challenges me in so many ways. Yoga allows me to keep creating on my mat, and in my life by tapping into my inner voice and leading from there.

Favorite pose: Headstand

Name: Ashley Galvin

Style of yoga you teach: Vinyasa Flow

How does yoga add creativity into your life? I’ve always been a creative. Yoga clears my mind and helps to erase all the clutter, so my thoughts flow freely. When I write yoga classes I sequence poses where my students move seamlessly like a dance. This is an outlet for me. I want to give my students an experience, and in doing so I am always pushing my creative edge.

Favorite pose: This is a tough answer! It changes based on my mood and how my body is feeling. Standing split, handstand, pyramid, pigeon, and compass are a few of my favorites.

CreativeLive is teaming up with Alo Moves to bring you yoga classes that help you connect to your inner creativity. From restorative to active, beginner to advanced, these 10 classes will energize your body and calm your mind. Get ready to do your best work.

Name: Dylan Werner

Style of yoga: I teach my own unique style of vinyasa yoga, centered around myofascial meridian sequencing that ranges from strong and dynamic to slow and meditative, with an emphasis on the exploration of the physical journey to deepen the inner connection.

How does yoga add creativity into your life? The nature of yoga is to understand the truth of the universe and the fundamental truth that everything is continuously changing and at the same time completely interconnected. Life is the cycle of change through impermanence and creation. Yoga helps me see my interconnected role in creative expression as part of the unfolding true nature of existence.

Favorite pose: Having a favorite pose is like having a favorite child, they’re all my favorite.

Name: Carling Harps

Style of yoga you teach: Awakening yoga, prenatal/postnatal yoga, restorative yoga

How does yoga add creativity into your life? There are certainly many aspects of teaching that evoke creativity, but my personal practice is more about discipline, focus, and introspection. For me, ritual and repetition help me focus and create room for self-inquiry.

Favorite pose: Anything in the backbend family most days, and I’ve also got a strong affinity for Trikonasana

Name: Patrick Beach

Style of yoga you teach: Awakening Yoga, a style I created that combines functional movement with the ritualistic nature of traditional yoga practices.

How does yoga add creativity into your life? Yoga is a problem-solving tool for me. I am always thinking about how to create useful practices for my students to help them find more balance and peace. There is no perfection on this path — my hope is to help students find the tools for proper inquiry into their own process.

Favorite pose: Ever since I began this journey I have always loved handstand and it still gives me much of what I am looking for in a yoga pose.
