The Simple Trick You Can Do To Combat Foot Pain On the Job

foot pain at work

Whether you’re on a long photo shoot, running errands, or just spending the day chasing down your kids, foot pain from high-heels can put a serious crimp in your productivity. But that doesn’t mean you have to forgo cute shoes on the job — it just means you need to take a minute and take care of your feet.

CreativeLive instructor Jill Miller , who’s the co-founder of Tune Up Fitness Worldwide and creator of the corrective exercise format Yoga Tune Up®, points out that the way you walk and what you wear can lead to pain throughout the rest of the body. But, she says, you can combat foot pain (and the pain it spurs in the rest of the body) with a trick so simple, you can do it at your desk, in the field during a long wedding shoot, or even in the waiting room at the dentist’s office.

Jill recently shared this trick on the Oprah Winfrey Network, and we thought it was too good not to pass on.

Here’s what you do:

  • Get a tennis ball, racquet ball, or other soft, squishy ball
  • Stand with someone to help you balance, like a chair
  • Place the ball beneath the arch of your foot
  • Roll your foot back and forth, spreading the toes and relaxing

…And that’s it! This motion will help ease tension caused by snug shoes, while also giving your feet a break from all that walking around.
