Footers & Lorem Ipsum

everyone in this video, we're going to do this, we're going to put in our footer and we're going to put in some Lauren ipsum for our frequently asked questions, look at some kind of basic font stuff with bullet points which actually don't exist, but we'll cover them all in this video right now. Alright, let's grab that foot first. I'm going to steal it from this wires document. There's a chunk of options up the top here. I'm gonna grab this 1st 1 copy it switch paste. Now keep doing this because you're gonna work with lots of like other UI kits to get started. A lot of people do okay, just to kind of get elements that you might not have designed before and you're gonna end up with all these kind of like random symbols. So I'm going to click on the little link to break it. Okay, Actually that doesn't work. It worked with that CC library, but in this case we need to right click it and say and was unlinked symbol so it's no longer a symbol. And all of these guys I'm going to delete so I'v...

e selected them all the first one shift, click the last one. Right click goodbye. Just tidy it all up. Okay, another thing I want to do is I want to um group it. Okay, so I've right clicked it on group so that I can kind of work with this bit and just drag this to the edges. Okay, neat little trick. A trick is if you hold down the I'm gonna zoom in, it's too far away then is if you start, I want to drag this one and this one across. Okay, but if you hold down the key on a PC or the option key on a Mac and you grab this side here, watch what happens, can see who both move. So it's kind of handy. So that's my foot up. What I want to do actually is I want to slick this whole thing and drag it up a little bit because I wanted to be there and I want to adjust the outboard, okay, because there's too big a gap there, so to adjust the outboard size, double click the edge, drag it up and you'll notice that it doesn't snap like the outboard doesn't snap to anything. Okay, just kind of moves around, lumbering giant is whatever it wants. What you can do is get it close and then grab all of this stuff again and drag a box around it all using my black arrow and just kind of move it down and it will, it will, you know, your your foot will snap to the edge of the upward, but not the other way around just so you know now we should go through and do all the text adjustments. Okay, I'm not going to do it for the moment just because you don't want to watch me typing, but obviously this is not quite consistent with the rest of the wireframe now before we move on, we're going to quickly look at Lauren ipsum why? Because there are going to be parts like this Q and a section here. I would like to have some fake text in it and you use what's called Lauren ipsum just fake mixed up latin words to as placeholder text. So we're going to go through it now and show you a kind of quick dirty way to do it now and later on we'll turn it into we'll start using fancy plug ins and some more advanced stuff. But for the moment, what we're going to do is I want to go grab some text that I've got in your exercise files. So here it is, it's in text and fonts and there's one in here called placeholder text and I just have this sitting on my hard drive and my my documents because I just go out and grab it all the time and like I just need a line for this Q. And a kind of placeholder text and you can see latin words, their actual words just mixed up. Okay, so I'm gonna copy it and I'm gonna grab my text box, I am going to use our area text box. Okay? And click and drag it, paste it in, make it the right color and use black, make sure it's and I want to put bullet points in the front of it now, you'll notice that X t. Doesn't have a whole lot of text ability. Okay. Um so if you want to put it in a bullet point, you have to work out, I know on my Mac to hold down the option key and hit eight, I think it's eight on a pc, you can get a bullet point, but just so you know like if you're like, hey where's the, you know the strikethrough button it has underlined, which is cool, which is an upgrade, I believe it or not from the earlier version, but it doesn't have some of the fun stuff so you gotta fake it. There's my like question and I'm gonna have my answer and I'm just going to grab bit more text, I just want a chunk of that and it's just good because like if you start adding real text in here, I bet you people start coming like clients come back to me and say oh that's not quite correct, that question and answer or that's not up to date. And you're like that's not the point of this meeting to kind of correct my grammar and type, which is terrible. And what I will do though is my space after it's going to be zero and I'm going to go and just copy and paste a few lines of this thing so I'm going to put a return in pretty faking it at the moment, I'm not going to spend too much on my plate and paragraph spacing it's just placeholder text to give the idea of what's going in there. We used kind of an icon for an image, but this is going to be a placeholder text. Cool. And that's Lauren ipsum, just so you know as well, you can go off and get fancy, like that's where I get my Lauren ipsum lipson dot com, loads of people use this one ugly sight, but it allows you to go, I want five paragraphs generate and it just gives you the text that you need and you can, that's exactly what I copied and pasted into that word doc a long time ago and they value my privacy, which is good. And the other thing you might do is you don't have to, but just so you know, there's Lauren ipsum, there's Cat epsom, okay, you can generate three paragraphs of capitalism, it's junk. Like its placeholder, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's kind of funny, There's Star Wars epsom, there's gangster ipsum, it's kind of like snoop Dogg. Uh Lauren sizzle. Anyway, just so you know, that might not be appropriate. I just thought it was funny. Okay, so we stole the footer and we added some Lauren ipsum, I'll show you later on some called plug ins when we get into that, but more advanced XD stuff, but that's going to work for us as a placeholder now in our wireframe. Alright, Friends, let's move to the next video

Ratings and Reviews

Thank you, Dan Scott, for providing such a beautiful Adobe XD course. I completed the course today and noticed a couple of things that are missing. I want to share them here so that you can upgrade the course, which would be helpful for us. Hover state and toggle state. Dragging pages from 1-2 to 2-3 and then back from 3-2 to 2-1 with dragging is not working. Another thing is that we learned scrolling the website from top to bottom, but scrolling or pushing things from right to left has been completely omitted. These are the things I have noticed, and I would like you to upgrade them so that we can improve our Adobe XD skills.
