Hi there, john carlson I'm here with rico imaging and rico imogene it's a name people are not necessarily familiar with. Rico purchased pentax as a brand about three years ago eso you may see rico imaging but you'll still see the pentax brand and what rico wants to do is build on the fit in the finish and the quality and the really the value that protects has always offered over the years on dh to bring new, innovative product not only dea solares but cameras like our fate a camera three sixty spherical capture camera andi it's really part of a complete lineup of product from our medium format professional quality six forty five z to our came out cameras three in that family are key mount line of cameras and then our compact cameras with the g e r the x q one and the the waterproof syria's cameras and then obviously the accessories and the lenses and everything that goes along with that to make it a complete system and really complete family of products. So one of the key things that w...
e've brought to our dslr lineup and something that is in all of our d s lars is first of all our came out so this was a lens mouth was introduced about thirty years ago and it's something that has been consistent in all of our dear solares through that entire period of time what's great about that is there's a high quality lens for any photographer any type of photography any shooting situation so so we really got a great offering there the other great part about that is because we've kept the same lens mount for quite a number of years we are able to say that you know any any lens from your dad's thirty year old pentax lends to something we've just produced will be able to be mounted on these cameras and will work perfectly so that's a great offering that we have and it goes back even further weii macon adapter where you can put scream out lenses on the came out bodies and get somewhere all of functionality of the camera so and this is our current line up a lens is we have a good strategy if we have some really great good lenses better lenses in our limited line of of lenses and our best lenses are kind of professional level lenses and they go from fixed vocally fifty millimeter fourteen millimeter all the way up to a five hundred sixty millimeter telephoto lens super telephoto lens great part about this and this is part of some of our lineup especially the k three is a good portion of these lenses especially the higher quality lenses are weather resistant so you could shoot out in rain, sleet, snow, hail whatever the different conditions are perfect for that kind of shooting something else that ordeal solares have is our shake reduction system this is penn taxes take on an image stabilization system and what's key for for this is we've built it into the camera body itself and it's going to offer three to three and a half stops of compensation no matter what the shooting conditions are provided great sharp blur free images and it's really unique system where it's designed around the sensor itself that hold the sensors built into a plate on the camera and there's a series of electromagnets that are actually charged during picture taking and float the sensor and compensate for for any kind of shake or or movement of the camera also built in with that is a dust removal system where the the sensor will actually move in a pattern during during the dust removal activation and remove any dust on the sensor. So it's, a body based system that works with any lens we've created over the years so from one of the thirty year old came out lenses to one of the forty year old scream out lenses. It'll work on any lens upto are most reese sit lenses that gives you about twenty seven million different lenses that you can mount and use on our dslr cameras and the other nice thing about that is it being a body based system any time we upgrade a body? The system is upgraded as well on dh then our lenses themselves are typically smaller and lighter weight thing competitive lenses that have an image stabilization system built into the lens itself so some great advantages there something else that we have that is new in the k three and we've added into the new chaos one is our on this is a world first it's an on demand anti ayla seen filter simulator so most digital cameras on the market today have what's called a filter or it's an alias seen filter and what this does is it adds a little bit of blur to an image so that you prevent what's called moray so false color pattern and in a in a subject the scott a tight pattern typically clothing or manmade objects you don't typically don't see it in naturally occurring objects so what we're able to do is figure out how to move our sensor in both the k three in the cast one in a small pattern at the sub pixel level to simulate the effective and a filter so we're the first manufacturer to offer a single camera that gives a photographer the opportunity to turn the system on or off and it's a really simple thing to do on the camera if you go into the back of the camera on all of our d s lars you haven't info button and what this does is it gives you access to most of the more commonly used on dh changed subjects are, uh, settings so on the bottom left corner there's a filter simulator you could turn it on there is to positions type one and type two and really, what that does is it applies a different different level of that a filter simulator so you know, for for a long time photographers had to choose between a camera within a filter simulator that reduced the sharpness of the image a little bit or they had to choose a camera without a filter for that extra sharpness and then have to worry about more a correction. Post capture s o we were able to figure out how to use our shake reduction system. To do this right in the camera really gives photographers a complete level of flexibility that that no one else is able to provide here's a little sample of the filter. This is one of our japanese engineers very nice fellow, but here is his jacket close up with the a filter simulator turned off and you could see the moray the false color pattern type one it applies the simulation but at a lower level so that there is some false color. But you still get a pretty sharp image and then type two applies a stronger application of the a filter simulator. It reduces the sharpness, but your mores gone away so really gives a photographer a lot of flexibility lot of adaptability something else that we offer in both our k three as well as our chaos one is one hundred percent field of you through the viewfinder we still use an all glass penna prism so the pen in prison is what actually reflects the light through the through the system into the photographer's eye and that's where you get the name digital single lens reflex that's that's the reflex right there so we offer one hundred percent field of view on all of our cameras from entry level all the way up to our most advanced camera onda maximum viewfinder magnification so when you're looking through the viewfinder the camera it gives you a nice, bright, accurate field of view of what you're going to be taking a picture ofthe and that's really important when you're framing especially close up objects um you know landscape photography you want to make sure all the branches of everything or are other the frame and you're getting a great picture something else that we have in in all of our dis de solares is a very extensive white balance setting on the camera so I'll go back to the k three and this is this applies to the the case one is well there's a four way controller on both cameras and if you hit the white balance button you get a new array of different white balance setting so daylight shade cloudy florescent all the different standard presets that you see in a lot of other cameras, but within each and every one of these settings, you can go in and you can hit the info button, and you get this sub menu that comes up and you confined to the white balance. I don't want to say infinitely, but pretty darn close within each of those settings, you confined to knit too, extremely wide wide degree, and then the camera will will actually remember that setting. Uh, again, that goes for every single one of the settings for fluorescent there's, four different presets, then you can go in and find tune from there. Um, we have a special white balance moment called seti, which actually enforces prominent colors within an image. So if you're taking a picture of a sunset, a lot of auto white balance systems will tend to make it more blue, where the ct will actually emphasized the read of that sunset. And then for the more advanced photographers, we have three different color temperature settings, so photographer khun go in and actually set a color temperature to what shooting conditions there are, you know, whether it's, a cool and normal or a warm setting, and then last, but not least within our white balance setting on this is a new feature that rico brought to the table from from their experience is a multi segment white balance setting so it's going to take a look at a scene, the cameras looking at the scene and it's going to say ok, I've got natural light coming from a window I've got uh incandescent light I've got, you know different light sorts, lord sources it'll actually balance them in the frame to give you a nice, sharp, properly balanced image so really quite advanced feature again both on our k three as well as the little bit more entry level chaos one and then we've got a great feature in this applies to the k three in the case one as well as our six forty five z r r pro level camera, a product called the flu card uh it's, a sixteen gigabyte sd memory card that acts as a wireless router so it'll actually transmit a wireless signal from the camera to any device that is connected via wifi. And then you go into your web browser on that device and it will actually give you a live view from the camera allow you to set the shutter speed the aperture exposure compensations sensitivity if you're on a touch screen device, you can actually touch the screen and focus where you've touched it on dh, then you can trigger the shutter then if you go into image view, you can actually see a view of all the images you've captured through the card and then download them to your to your smartphone your tablet whatever it may be um is this really cool way to command and control your camera and then get those images from your camera to a smartphone to share however you like um there's a lot of not a lot but there's multiple different wireless options for four cameras but nothing that gives you this this level of commanding control of a camera s o those are all features that are common to two both the cameras both the k three in the chaos one not like to dive in a little bit further specifically with the k three and how we liketo call the scammer it's a new standard of performance really? Because it's the most advanced camera in its class scott class leading speed and versatility technology leadership because of things like they filter simulator that the uh the shake reduction system but it's also very compact it is very rugged ahs you could see we've won a ton of awards most recently the s award which is a european award for best advanced dslr tipo ward which is also european award so great award winning camera so it's all built around a new twenty four megapixel seamus sensor so very high resolution so you're going to get the quality out of the camera that you can do you no poster size prints or larger and then it's got the on demand antennae releasing filter see, the photographer can choose between the sharpness of not using in a filter or the more a reduction of a filter, and then that's built in with the new, the new prime image processing engine that pulls it all together and actually makes the image. So what that does is it gives you an idea so range up to fifty one thousand two hundred so lot effect flexibility with the sensitivity of the camera gives you optimum noise control and really ultimate control over the image, whether you're using the a filter or not the full resolution of the sensor or not, the lowest sensitivity setting all the way to the highest since too sensitive eighty seven so a lot of flexibility there. The other thing the k three has is an extremely flat fast frame rate, especially for cameron this category, so it'll shoot at eight point three frames per second, and what that really allows a photographer to do is captured a large quantity of pictures so they can really capture that decisive moment. And it's it's really quite impressive when you when you hear it, I'll see if I can get it going here, so on the back of the camera you have a driving mode where there's there's a bunch of different options, you've got a self timer mode both a to second and a twelve second we make an optional remote control exposure compensation you can do mirror up so if you're taking images on a tripod exposure multiple exposure there's an interval time or so a lot of different options with this camera but specifically if you go into the continuous shooting mode and hold it up to the mike that's all slow so ticket out of raw you don't necessarily have to take it out of raw um to to go to the er the fastest frame rate that's about half the speed of the of the camera so it's incredibly fast but it's also very durable so the shutter will actually eyes actually built to handle two hundred thousand cycles actually did the math and that's about one hundred images a day every day for think it's five years so it's going to last that's it's really built to take a lot of views and again it's it's really lousy photographer to capture that decisive moment something else that's new in the k three is is the media ring and focusing system so it uses a new autofocus sensor that scott twenty seven out of focus points twenty five of those are being are cross sensors so sensitive to both vertical and horizontal contrast within a scene on really what that allows is the camera two focus in a wide range of situations and obviously you khun you khun adjust the focus system so it's using all twenty seven points on lee the central portion of those points spot of a focus you can manually select your focus point or let the camera do it so a lot of versatility there that is paired with an eighty six thousand pixel exposure metering system so it's basically a secondary sensor in the camera that is looking at the scene determining if there's any movement the brightness of the scene the color temperature of the scene all those things and giving you the best possible exposure reading it works with the focusing system to make sure it's focusing accurately to the point where it's looking at the color temperature and it recognizes that focus point your focus point under tungsten light is going to be completely different or that completely but microscopically different than the focus point under daylight or fluorescent light it is going to adjust the focus for those conditions and that's part of our real time seen analysis where it's looking at the entire scene both your subject distance the brightness color temperature all those things to give you the best possible image so it's very accurate very responsive and a great great uh um system something else is great about the k three is it's a very durable body the body itself is whether resistant so every seam, every button, every door everything about the camera is weather sealed so you could take this camera out and rain sleet, snow hail whatever the conditions maybe and get a good quality image to the point where our weather shield lindsay's actually have a seal around the the lens mouth to prevent the ingress of water moisture dust within the camera you know I've been out on the oregon coast shooting I've been out and snowstorms in colorado uh some of the worst conditions you can imagine but great thing about photography and the k three is some of the best images coming the worst conditions um you're not going to have to run and hide and put this camera away so other other class lean features you know when they were showing here that's part of that durability is it's a magnesium out alloy outside covers built around it stainless steel chassis or I'm sorry an aluminum alloy chassis so it's very durable has great advance video capture capabilities which is very important in a dslr so the point where there's a dedicated switch to go between still and video capture um does ten adp video does four k time lapse video is really quite capable it's got an external microphone jack on the on the side of the camera external headphone jack so you could check your your noise levels the k three has dual card slots so you can actually control what the cameras is doing with their images whether you're sending jae pegs teoh one card raw files to another using the the flu card um using one as a back up those are all things you can go in and manually control and and set up with the camera so it really matches your shooting style it's also got great connective idiots usb three point oh outputs from the camera to your computer so very quick transfer of images from the camera to the computer it's also got ht my connectivity is great for video capture if you want to use an alternate monitor toe adjust your framing and and see your video capture so um great great advanced features and then it's it's a very compact form factor while it's it's small it's very dennis is like how I like to explain the cameras it feels solid it is solid and it's really going to stand up to a lot so that's our k three you know my personal dslr of choice this is the camera that I take out when I go shooting um and and really need that high quality imaging now transitioning to the case one the cast one is a relatively new introduction it was introduce about three weeks ago and it's our newest cameron our lineup and it offers some great features and it's a great camera because one is very stylish it's got a unique look, very progressive design and some of the things we'll talk about but also a very capable digital slr so you know it's it's great for it on entry level photographer whose just starting out and learning photography but it also has some advanced features. So as a photographer learns mohr and gets more interest in photography and lenses and different exposure settings, the camera will grow with um and really great provide some some great features. Um it's got some great features that inherited from the k three great imaging features it's, a new twenty megapixel seamus sensor and just like the k three, it doesn't have the a filter so the photographer can achieve superior sharpness or they could turn on the a filter simulator and reduce the moray uh, new prime and two image processor the optical viewfinder with one hundred percent field of view s o on this camera will actually go up to one hundred two thousand four hundred so very high I esso setting on dh then also will do. The full hd video of thirty twenty five, twenty four doesn't have some of the more advanced features like the k three, where you have the external microphone jack and the headphone jack, that kind of thing but is very capable camera when it comes to two video capture it's also got a very progressive design it's kind of a combination of, you know, a more modern consumer electronics plot product combined with more traditional dslr pen a prism look and the reason for that is we wanted to maintain that came out um it's an important part of our camera are dslr system, so you know, we're we're kind of locked into this shape of the camera because of the came out because it's a dslr and we wanted that one hundred percent field of view on the view finder but it's it's still a very fashionable, very usable camera it's got the flu card connectivity some of the category leading features again I mentioned a filter simulator it's very fast responsible actually shoot at five point three frames per second top shutter speed of one six thousand of a second so if you're shooting and bright daylight the camera can go up to a very high shutter speed again capture that decisive moment um it's got the inviting shake reduction and it's one of the smallest bodies within eighteen to fifty five on the market, so the the form factor itself is extremely small but it's very comfortable, very well. Ergonomic design on dh is really a great camera giving into some of the features again, I mentioned that twenty megapixel see moss censor the heart of the camera built into that shake reduction system and then using the new image processor is able to reduce noise even out tio very high ias settings of one hundred two thousand four hundred so great in low light conditions, great and bright conditions, great and pretty much any conditions now this the cast one uses are safe. Fox nine plus nine I plus autofocus module it's kind of a lot to say there, but really what? What it boils down to is an eleven point autofocus system, with nine of those focus points being cross sensors and then a special diffraction lin's within the system that assures that the focus points on the side of the area are achieving the same focus as if you were using the central focus point. And just like the k three, you can either let the camera select automatically, and this is actually what you see in the viewfinder. Automatically select the focus point, or you can manually set select the focus point or you khun say I went the spot the center spot focus point um, a lot of a lot of flexibility there as well. So some other more advanced features with the camera again, I mentioned the one six thousands of a second shutter speed in the five five point four frames per second continuous shooting. So you know here's, a perfect example out on a snow scene extremely bright, you've gotta moving, subject the camera's going to allow you to really take control of that, that photographic situation the cast one as well as the k three have a lens correction feature we can actually go in and correct for some of the more common distortion chromatic aberration prefer aluminum illumination correction which is like a uh uh words escaping me but corrects for that diffraction correction so you can actually go in and and and really kind of fine tune your images within the camera uses a seventy segment, seventy seven segment metering pattern, which is is really quite great on very accurate it's kind of a time proven system that we've used in in the whole series of cameras that gives great results full hd movie and then connective ity for the flu card and I'll talk about the gps support in a moment here um what's also really cool about the cast one is within its user interface you have a siri's of different effects turn the camera on here you have this dial that allows you to go through the different modes and when you get to things like the effect mode in the scene mode there's ah visual representation that allows you to see what what you're changing this got the different roads you know program shutter prior to our sensitivity priority which is fairly unique to pentax um shutter priority aperture, priority shudder and aperture priority and this is things in both the k three and the case won where you are selecting and I esso range as a photographer and then thie camera allows you to set the shutter speed adapter and pick and I also from within that range to get you the results you want manual controls but if you go into the effects it's basically ah host of digital filters that allow you to kind of put your own personal touch on the images so a couple examples there's a faded color so it really d saturates the image almost makes it look black and white but there are little hints of color clear tone which is really kind of it increasing sharpness and decreases saturation and then replace color where you can actually extract a certain color and then switch it within the the camera what's really cool about the different filters and digital filters and effects with this camera is that you can stack you khun get really creative and and use the different different controls tio to really get a unique look she can, you know, do the faded color and then you could post arise it and then you can, you know, add a uh uh microsemi I you could you could really do some creative things with the camera it's something we encourage people to play with and and really try out and see what the camera can do so kind of the last cool thing about the cameras you'll notice when the camera turns on there's, a serious of lights on the shutter release, a cz wella cz thie grip, and then the dial these air all designed not only to kind of feel a p b appealing to to customer or to a photographer, but to actually be functional ahs well, so, for example, on the back of the camera, the thie dial is lit, and the motrin will actually highlight in green, so if you're shooting and in low light situations, you can very clearly see what mode urine and then has the illuminated ok button so again, you can see it the on off switch on the camera when you could turn the camera on its lit up so you can kind of see where the shadow releases, but when you go from still photography to video photography actually changes from from green to red, so it's, a very quick visual reference as to what mode you're you're actually in, and then you see the grip lights have have gone off on the camera. However, if you go into just the camera here and you go into the self timer mode, I'll go into the short self timer mode, it actually acts as a countdown as you go through the self timer also you khun integrates with our face detection system with the camera so it'll actually light up with the number of faces that sees so it's actually a very functional part of the camera the other nice thing about this is, you know, a more traditional photographer who want something nice and compact and that likes the form factor but doesn't necessarily like the lights you can go through the menus on the camera and actually turn those lights off so they won't come on at all and uh the camera becomes a little bit more unintrusive also with the chaos kass one you know, this is something we've been doing for years with the different color options with our cameras are you hiring cameras? We go with the traditional dslr blackwell we have had some special editions that air silver kind of cool looking things with our kind of I would say entry level but midlevel cameras we've got color options available so the two I have here on the table or the blue and white we also have a traditional black but we also have two collections we call the fabric collection in the night sky collection and what we did is we actually went out to the fashion world and said what are going to be the hot trends the colors what's going on and in the fashion industry and we took cues from that so with the fabric collection there's a cotton beige linen brown denim blue and tweet gray which are these colors in the middle row that kind of take design cues from fashion and and from from clothing we also have the night sky collection which does exactly that takes excuse from the night sky so you have sunset orange dust goal moon silver bin night black and don purple which are these colors and in the back it really give photographers an opportunity to you know not only take great pictures but have a little bit of flair with their camera and their photography um and you know it's something again that that pentax has done for a number of years and we know that people love these cameras and they're proud of their cameras and like to show him off and last but not least these cameras are a full complete system it's not just about the body and the lens but we have a whole host of wins for the k three we have a battery grip we have straps you know the battery's we have different flash options with our new five forty and three sixty flash they work perfectly with our cameras plus they're also weather sealed so you can take the camera in the same conditions you can take the k three whether it's raining sleet, snow hail and keep on shooting the flu card I talked about we have an optional gps unit that you can attach via the hot shoe of of any of these cameras that will actually tag the image with the location you took the picture onda also give you a, uh, digital compass on the back of the camera and then also has a very cool feature we call our astro tracer feature, so you could set the camera on the tripod at night with clear skies. You know, taking pictures of stars and the camera via the gps unit. Well, actually track the stars during the exposure and move the sensor via the shake production system. So you're your stars or sharpen points at very long exposures. Very cool feature unique to our cameras because of our shape production system and then optional remote controls. And then for again the more advanced photographer we have different focusing screens that you can change out on the k three as well as a cast, one that are really, you know, kind of customize the camera to your shooting style. So that's. The quick rundown of open text, k three and the new chaos one.
