Student Shoot (Tyler)

You guys looking so lovely, they've evolved once again fantastic way have absolutely different looks. So before we start with laura now we'll start with my beautiful twiggy isc model itself for for them with sixteen, seven, sixteen, eight so it has to start now I'm not gonna shoot. Ok, I am going to pull. Ah, yeah, you in the right seat, man. You're shooting this time and as you shoot, I want you think about direction. This is beyond just being happy about shooting a beautiful girl on set. You're the director, so I want you to direct her talk loud, make sure they can hear because if we have the fans going there's fans on the lights back here so it's sometimes it's hard to hear the photographer you got the camera in front of your face so all right, I want to hear you direct me you're a lion that looks beautiful. That looks beautiful. So do me a favor. Let's, put your camera down for a second and come over here and let's introduce you first to each other how we don't, tyler, nice to meet...

you. Perfect. So before every shoot you should introduce yourself and know them before they get up there, I should be saying hello for the first time as they're up there, so introduce yourself make your comments on how you feel about the hair about the makeup if you see some of this out of line make sure you speak up this is your show right all right we have a lot more darker colors so let's not go for a cz much is like a happy go lucky feel more like serious director poses some like that I'm sure you just move around we'll make magic and the words of mr smith for the sea about sixteen on camera and one hundred okay cool we actually get the fan sure yeah someone we're gonna work on that okay cool thank you use her name cool ground let's just move around a little bit good there goes your awesome louder it's awesome good job sweet that fans going that watch that hand that's getting lost maybe take that hand out of your pocket yeah uh yeah like that sweet right oh yeah right there talking to her grades so stop for a second so I want you to remember that fashion is our hero so you could be very easy it lost embryonic because she's stunning but think about the fashion and think about the lines for the clothing and what looks best on the clothing how she stands she she pulls up up more she hunched over think about the shape and then direct her into what you want cool uh you know like pull out the sides of the jacket it's sort of like that cool way get the fan back in there that's awesome! Good job, awesome stuff one second again, so years ago, I did a shoot with, uh sad jackson it's my first time shooting him and he comes on the set and he says, I hate taking pictures. My hacking is hating in pictures you're in every movie out he says, well, when I have, you know, I'm doing a movie I know how to hit my line, how to hit my mark say my lines and I'm never looking at the camera and that feels very comfortable to me, but with photography I feel almost naked we have got to stand there and look at the camera and polls I'm like actually you don't so let's go through the siri's of you hitting a mark and going through your lines and that worked models want to be directed actors want to be directed so it's up to you to direct them into the shot that you want you are the director direct cool, yeah, I want you, like stand looking that way for me and then just kind of like slowly as well you two sort of rotate up to the front of me trying to get some sort of side stuff with the fan in there oh, right there, like that way with the jacket a little bit more slight for very cool. Well, swish did a great job. Thank you, man. Thank you, man. This guy's going go places and you need to get to new york this time you do assist, you have no excuses. At eighteen, you need to assist in the whole world is wide open to you. Assist matthew can cook. Question from sam cox from colorado is the light turned. You're in such a way that proper exposure is available from only one position. Orc in the photography. The photographer be moving around the model as well. The software can be moving around, but only within a certain area you have, you have a background, so you can't. You can't go all around and move around cause then we go off our white so you want to stay within a certain, uh, area he can move around any way he wants to hear is long as he's within the parameters of the background.

Your answers to each questions are extremely inspirational. I think you are the best teacher on photographing so far on Creative Live. This course has been an awesome experience. I have learned so much about the process of beauty and fashion photography. Matthew takes the viewer through the preliminary thought process. He not only covers the technical aspects but also the importance of the photographic team itself--the stylist, makeup artist, model and photo assistants. The photographer plus the team equals magic. I do not use the term amazing lightly. This man is AMAZING and INSPIRING! Thanks to Matthew, I feel confident that I will find my own vision.
