Curating Aesthetically Branded Images
this goes with social media, we will talk about right now creating your It's just curating in general. And I think I didn't understand this in the beginning that the images you have in your website should be highly curated and the images not you are putting out there like if it doesn't look like your brand, don't post it like I made the mistake when I first started my instagram with posting like everything in anything like I would post like me at a party and then, like I would post like an amazing photo I took. And it was so disjointed that people were like, I don't know who this person is or what she's trying to convey, and I didn't really have a good following right now. I think I'm almost that 12,000. It's not a lot, but it's a lot more than I was in February and February, A had maybe 1900 followers on Instagram February, I decided I'm going to start really curating and branding my Instagram with a lot of effort into it, and I'm really gonna be strategic about it. And in the matter ...
of six months, I've gotten over 10, new followers. Just from being really specific, I rebranded my instagram. It used to be at Beauty Day photo, and now it's at Laura Greer travel. So if you guys want what if all along my adventures, it's on there. But at Laura grew travel, I felt like I could encompass destination weddings and travel. But then it's very clear when someone comes to my instagram that it's travel like they know in the need. Because at first I was going to do Lure the Explorer and I thought I was the only one and it's taken like 55. Tried every way to spell that, and I and I couldn't buy. I was like, So, um, everyone's like, Just do simple like you're thinking too much for you. Laura Greer Travel your searchable, your name and its travel. So, um, I went through and erased all party pictures. I went through any raised all pictures that didn't fit with my brand, and I started laying them out beforehand like a grid cause you know, Instagram's in rows of three. And so I will plan out like the whole month and what images are gonna go next to each other, and I make sure because this is how people reviewing it. At first I would just post him image by image and think like that's what they're going to see. They're going to see this image and it's amazing. But I didn't think about what they looked like next to each other. So it's really important to like If I like I said, I go through color faces Once in a while I'll be like in an orange phase, and I don't realize it till I start looking at my pictures and I'm like Everything is orange on my instagram. So it's really nice toe have contrast like see the blues, contrasting with the yellows and just mixing in pops of color and making sure visually how people were going to see you is like this. So again, it's stepping outside of your own bubble and trying to see how people perceive you. And so I tried to to mixing my colors, so curating your images. Now that you have an app like snap seat on your phone, I can enhance colors. I can make them look good. I can post them right away, and I want to talk about smartphone photos. I didn't realize how important it was to. We're gonna get in a video branding a little later today but videos on your cell phone for, like a 32nd video. Believe it or not, insider travel and other travel companies are surfing instagram for INSTAGRAM video clips like 15 seconds 30 seconds to repost on their travel Instagram and their travel sites. I've literally had people find videos through my INSTAGRAM and asked Toe relicensed them and post them on. And they got, like, a 1,000, followers on their travel site or something like that. I had no idea they were doing that, and I used to just post videos here and there. I now when I'm traveling, make sure on either my smartphone or my back my camera. I make sure I do a 32nd clip of an interesting place where Matt So they want clips like of you walking along a beautiful area, or like a sweeping shot of the Taj Mahal or something where you are. It's really important to grab some of those because they can also be used as B roll for some of your like if you want to have an intra video like I showed earlier or behind the scenes video or anything like that. These are the kinds of shots that you will want later on to fill that in, and it takes two seconds or 30 seconds really to do it. Um, and that's it is really smooth and study and make sure you do some vertical, some horizontal. Give them options. And believe it or not, a lot of travel brands are surfing Instagram and other places for little video clips like this. So using your block is a visual database. I talked about that earlier, where I don't you know you really, really want Ahonen and curate all the imagery on your website and everywhere else on your on your Facebook on your instagram. Another thing is, you don't want to show the same stuff in all three. So when I go on a trip, I will. We're talking about marking your images earlier. Some of you will rate your images when you're editing. Going through them, you'll rate, um, five star four star three start. I do that with I'll rate certain images for social media used for articles and for Facebook, right so I'll try not to show the same stuff on all places because it gives people more reason to want to go to another one of my my meetings where I'm showing my work and Seymour like they they're not gonna go from my instagram to my facebook or vice versa up there singing the same stuff, right? So, um, user bloggers their visual database just, you know, show all of your different shoots that you're working on, but really, really hone in and just pick the best of the best for instagram Facebook and going back to having one website or more than one website, if necessary. So going back to san polio honestly, like I could add more websites that I love just really focusing on travel and weddings for me. Uh, that's those are the jobs I want. It doesn't mean that I don't do other things. That doesn't mean I do. If a job is strange and interesting enough for me, I will do it. I just photographed the World arm wrestling championships in Vegas and loved every second of it. You know, I love anything unusual like that, but I'm not gonna I'm not you know, putting myself out there is like a sports event photographer or, you know, or that I'm shooting newborns and things like that. But it doesn't mean I can't do it. And I get jobs like that through just people, seeing me in press and doing strange things. Like I think someone probably saw a strange shoot of mine and asked me to do arm wrestling is awesome. Uh, okay, so let's talk about Instagram. Do any of you guys have questions about social media and creation? Yeah, you dok Internet does. But I also wanted me. Oh, Lee, we is asking with the new option on Instagram of being able to access multiple profiles at once, You know, they just made that update not too long ago. Would you still suggest changing up your current account vs Opening a new account for your business? You know what? I people asked me that a lot when I decided to change the name to Laura Greer. Travel. Uh, just start a second, Instagram. And no, I don't want a man to things for me. It was more that I felt that I don't really get my brides from Instagram, but I felt that in the travel realm, all Instagram is really powerful in the travel room. I think for weddings I found that it's really great for other vendors to kind of to know about each other. But and some brides are definitely finding weddings on Instagram. But the travel world is really, really using Instagram a lot, and it's being an influence on Instagram is important. So I felt like I wanted to get a leg up on that, and I already had a following on Beauty Day photo, and I want that Translate that into order travel. But yes, having multiple accounts of you have the time or energy to do it. It's very It's great, It's great. Said, uh, have a wedding Instagram have a travel instagram change it up and then some people have a personal one on top of that for me, I feel like my life blends all in travel, and I thought about it, and what I did was I just to keep it consistent, I would have pictures like myself like This is, we'll get, I'll show you this photo story later on of me and Lake Titicaca in a traditional outfit so I'll have some personal pictures of me on there. But they match the vibe in the style of all the stuff that I'm shooting and putting up there. So yeah, but no, definitely, if you have the time, you really want to market both businesses equally than having separate ones is getting.

I've been listening for, like, two hours. OMG. Like, I could, like, you know, get more from this if, like, she stopped jibbering and get to, like, you know, the topic? She sounds more like a rambling stream-of-thought teenager than a mature adult giving a succinct organized presentation. In two hours, I have, like, learned about two or three things I can, like, use. Like, Ehhhh...? It's like, bor-ing! Like, whutttt? Is she, like, 15 or what? Sheesh.
