Setting Up Your Shipping and Handling

All right on this module. What we're going to talk about is something really important. It's necessary to have your store set up and running. You do not want to miss this and that is setting up your shipping and handling rates. Okay? So to get to this section of your Shopify store, you're gonna want to come down to the bottom left where the cog is and hit settings. So let's go ahead and hit settings. And then right here in this menu you will see there is an option to manage how you ship your orders to customers. Now remember we're doing drop shipping here. Prindle demand is drop shipping. So we're not really having the print shipping labels or anything like that. I mean all of that junk is it's stuff that other people deal with. That is why I love print on demand. That's why when I started teaching students all over the world how to do Shopify, I chose to teach them methods by which they could drop ship, right? And it just makes it simple. So this isn't gonna be a big headache for you.

You don't have to worry about all these crazy rates or anything like that. So let's click on shipping. And when you get here, it's going to ask you to start setting things up. Now. In the very beginning, it might say something like before you can purchase a shipping label. Uh You must change these things. I don't have to worry about that because I am not purchasing any shipping labels. Because the print on demand companies, they ship everything for me. I never see it. I never touch it. Right? Print on demand. So you want to scroll down to where your zones and rates are. So out of the gate, you're gonna have shipping zones, you're gonna have a domestic shipping zone and then the rest of the world, you can edit these any way you like. All right, I'm gonna show you how simple this really is. So, um what we're gonna do is go to the domestic shipping zone for me that's United States. We're gonna hit edit and we can create as many different shipping tears as I call them. Um As I like, we can even add different countries into the shipping zone by clicking on, add countries, but we're going to keep it on us and then where it says price based rates, we can set up where we basically were charging people a shipping amount based off of how much money they spend on our store. And it's kind of common knowledge that um the more you spend on an order, the higher the shipping rate, maybe unless they're giving away free shipping, Right? So you don't like go crazy or anything like that, but it's acceptable to charge people a little bit more if they're buying more items because it's going to basically take up more space. It might be in a bigger box, Right? So it's important to to make sure that you set this up. Right, okay. So you can come up here where it says add a rate and don't worry about weight based stuff. You don't have to worry about weight. Um You want to be price based. All right, you can add a rate. Currently standard shipping a set, anybody that purchases an item that is on our store is just gonna pay a flat fee of $4.95. I'm gonna give you a little trick right here that I've given my students. That has helped so many students just do some pretty amazing things with their own stores just by, you know, something that's very simple. So we're gonna hit at a rate and what I like to do actually know what Let's go back. Let's go back. Let's edit this one. Let's edit the standard shipping one. Just click edit right here. Um What we're gonna do here is we're actually going to set a limit and I'm gonna show you how you can double up a little bit on shipping handling so you can earn more profits. Alright? So range from zero to no limit. So basically anybody on the store That by something will get charged for shipping. What we're gonna do is we're gonna set this limit 2 $50. Alright. So anybody that spends 0 to $50 they're going to pay 4 95 for shipping done now. All right, So people that purchase anything $ and below will get charged 4 95. Thing is especially with print on demand, you know, as people are buying more items are spending more money. Um The parental demand companies might up your shipping charge like I said, because well, you know, it's more expensive to ship more items so you want to go in and so many people they miss this step. And that's why I'm really glad that I'm doing this video because I've been there done that. Um I know how I can help you out here. You just hit at another rate. And what we'll do is we'll still call this standard shipping. All right, so you don't have to worry about. It really doesn't matter that much what you name this. There's some things you can do here to help increase conversion rates to that I've taught my students but we're gonna keep it standard for now uh minimum order price here. So we're just going to say $50 in a penny. Right? So anything over $50 um all the way up to 100 bucks. So anybody that spends $50 to $100 we're going to charge them $9.95. So we're gonna scoop up another $5 for shipping and handling. So this means every person that spends more money is going to get charged a higher shipping rate, therefore we are going to make more money, right? And that's gonna cover any print on demand, additional shipping costs if the company charges you more. Right? So this is an important right here to have now the next thing I do because a lot of you might be saying, well, Adrian what if somebody comes in and spends more than 100 bucks? I use a promotion. So I do at a rate and we'll call this free shipping and I'll say anybody that spends $100 or more, you could put this at 100 more and the other one at 99 bucks, but $100. And above we'll get free shipping. It's like that boom, Right? So anybody that spends more than $100 will get free shipping now if you want to, you can come over here and this is where I could, I could spend like literally an hour and here playing around and showing you promotional strategies and whatnot. But um, I know I have to kind of keep these short and to the point you could come down here and make this one 99 99, Right? And the reason you would do that is you might do a promotion where you say anybody that spends $100, right? So if you spend at least $ and above you get free shipping. And this is great for email promotions. It's great for facebook ads, getting people to spend more money to save on shipping has always been a phenomenal marketing strategy uh, for many, many different businesses. Okay, so once you set these up, these are in your domestic United States territory, you're gonna want to go and do the same thing again for the rest of the world. So let's jump back out here to shipping now that we have that set up. And remember, these are the most basic shipping settings right here. There's a lot of stuff that you could do here. That's really fun. But we're keeping it basic right now. Now you need to set up for the rest of the world. We're not using DHL or UPS or USPS or anything like that because we're doing drop shipping so you can edit on this and basically do the same thing over there. I'm just gonna go ahead and delete U. S. P. S. And D. H. L. Don't need them. We're doing drop shipping price based rates. So you could say here standard international shipping um anybody that spends $0 to $50 right is gonna pay $9.95. So automatically because it's international you're going to charge them a little bit more money. Um and that's acceptable right? Because people understand that if their international it costs a little bit more to ship items to them. And so you want to make sure that you capitalize on that. And you know you pick up that extra money. So you can also do standard international shipping again. And for this you would do your $50.1 all the way up to 99 99. And in this case you might charge them uh just a couple more bucks like 12 95 for shipping. All right. You don't want to get too crazy with it. Um So 12 95. You're just charging a couple more dollars, Right? And this is totally up to you, right? I'm just kind of showing you what I recommend. So it done all right. And then of course add another rate and then we'll do free shipping here and we'll say that we want to offer people free shipping if they spend $ or more. Right? So even though it's international if it's a big order we're assuming we've got some great profits in there. We'll give them free shipping. So we kind of did the same thing here. Um You can play with this, you can split test a lot of this. Remember this is something that I go into more d I could go into a lot more detail in but right now I want to keep it simple for you. This is the most basic way to set it up. You're just now getting started. This is kind of what I would recommend. Um And now you have your shipping settings set up and you are ready to go here. Yeah. Yeah.
