day we're going to learn all about how to run contests and giveaways on social media and I want to talk a little bit about how you can run them on your blog's and your own web sites as well but for the most part we are talking about social media giveaways and contests so when you think about the marketing umbrella, right marketing in general, there are so many forms of marketing there's advertising, there's, pr, there's, blogger outreach, their social media, which is like pictures facebook and below it a little and who knows what's going to come up in like, ten years from now, right? There's photography is a part of marketing. Your copyrighting is a part of your marketing giveaways and contests is a part of marketing as well. And I like to think of us small business owners is having kind of like this set of tools that you can kind of have around your ways. You know, having in your workshop and all of these little aspects of marketing is all part of the big picture of that marketing and how to promote your business so giveaways being one of them, I am of the opinion that if you want, you can be a jack of all trades master of none, try to do everything on day as a result, not really do any one thing very well, or you could really focus in on one, two or three of those things and do it really well. And once you get those things done really well, you know, he's your past the learning curve, then you move on to the next thing and learn another new thing and that's why you will hear a creative live today right here here to educate yourself it's here is a resource for you to ensure that you're doing things correctly in the best way possible to get the best right foot forward so giveaways this one are one of those things giveaways in contests or one of those things that we're not a stranger to this idea a lot of people are doing and give away doing giveaways it's easy to get set up but a lot of people also trip up over it but I wanted to talk a few ways on how contests and giveaways can be really great for your business it's a great way to grow your social media falling and also your business in general if you take the right steps on how to do that and I've got some really cool systems and like, oh, I'm getting ahead of myself but I'm really excited about all the stuff I'm gonna be teaching you today because I haven't seen it out there before thiss funnel system that I'm going to teach you but definitely it is a great way to grow your audience and I think we're all you know that's why we're all doing giveaways it's because we all have that expectation that we're going to get some new facebook followers some new instagram followers it's also perfect for people like us makers, artists and designers creative types thai people who sell a product that you can then give away it's a great free weight, it advertised well and you know it's, not free, because you have to spend making the product you have to spend on shipping the product out what you're not spending on advertising percy, like in how you would spend on facebook advertising, I want to teach you in this workshop how to do giveaways and contests the right way. As I mentioned earlier, there are a lot and it's such a it's such a you know, being your own business owner being self employed, you don't really have a boss out there. You don't have a supervisor out there telling you this is how you should be doing things, so you're really, you know, relying on yourself to decide on how to do those things yourself and then that way, I think being a self self employed business owner can be hard because you just want to know like someone just tell me what to do and I'm going to go do it. So I'm going to tell you what to do and you can take it as it is or if you want, you can change it up and see how it can apply to your own business, but this is this this will be a guide and a framework for you. As I mentioned giveaways or a basic concept, everyone is doing them anyone who's new in business, who's just started their etc shop are doing giveaways and contests because it's really easy to set up after this workshop. What I want you to walk away with is to be able to apply the specific tips and techniques that I teach you to make your giveaway stand out because everyone out there is doing giveaways and contests there's a lot of competition out there isn't that kind of funny that you're marketing needs to stand out from other people's marketing because it used to be that your product had to stand out from other people's product that is true still, but now you're giveaways need to stand out from other people's giveaways. I find it really funny because I'm on social media, lar ry on instagram on facebook and I follow a lot of small business owners because I like to see how I can support them and I'm only seeing people doing giveaways and you know, it doesn't always go well, they always have five you know, just five people entering and I'm always thinking like maybe I should join the giveaway because my chances of winning are really high on I'm gonna win all this stuff that I don't normally win, but at the same time I'm thinking like I don't have time for this and so having you know that thought process of I don't have time for this is I'm not the only person who's probably thinking that so let's see how we can make our giveaways and contests really great and really exciting for someone to want to join it backtracking a little bit expanding on this point here I stated on different social media and I want to really stress on that different social media platforms really called for different strategies and I'll explain kind of you know I'll break it down on difference right platforms facebook, instagram, pinterest and twitter how you can do some of the different giveaway types and contests as well but really you have to start I have a really great quote coming up from gary vaynerchuk so I'll let him kind of explain that a little bit more but why am I here teaching this with you today so my experience comes from selling my own line of scented food jewelry they're all handmade and I started just making it all myself and I start that in two thousand six and it's part you know I start from zero we all start from zero we all start from the ground and we all are trying to build our business to grow it up to become something that can can feed our passions that can sustain our lives and that can be profitable so I started from the bottom and I remember when I got my first two thousand facebook fans was through doing giveaways and I didn't do it very often but it was a big it was a big player in making this happen and my facebook page eventually grew to thirty four thousand fans and giveaways did play a big part in making that high happened and there are a lot of different things you know, there a lot of other forms of marketing to build social media following but giveaways was definitely one of those tools that I used frequently and consistently to help grow my fan base organically and in general in my business as a whole I used giveaways and contests to really build my community because you're giving your fans something really fun and exciting to be a part of and they like that it's fun for them and I was also able to grow my analyst and you know as usual you know, grow your social media profiles I think we all have that understanding that giveaways in contests I can do that for our business but I was also able to grow my analyst and I was also able to make sales from doing contests and giveaways and I'll show you exactly how to do that on pinterest also I did a pin in it to win it contest and that got over two thousand reap ins and what's really nice about pinterest is it keeps bringing back traffic to your website it has a really long life spend. Unlike some other social media, pinterest pins just kind of live out there kind of forever. They and that's really great about them. So we'll talk about pinterest as well.
