Katy Kristin Designs - Children's Toys & Apparel

So this is Katie. Kristen, Katie. This is so whimsical. And Magic Hole. We're super excited to meet you. Will you tell us about yourself and tell us about your design? Well, I like to collect a lot of things, especially old toys in vintage fabrics and little charms and things like that. So all of my designs are kind of inspired by the things that I collect a lot of Ah, a lot of whimsical things like elected, very tell things. Yeah, and that's probably my biggest inspiration. Right there is going to flea markets and antique stores collecting things. Yeah. Where did you begin? Is an artist. Um, pretty much when I was a little kid, I used to so little toys that did not look like that. Yet they they were the prototype of the product. I had all the stitching on the outside, so they were not very well finished. But I always like to make toys and do a lot of drawings. And I kind of don't remember when I first started because it's pretty much been forever. So yeah, isn't that beautiful, though...

, Just to say this is who I've been since I had since I can remember, right? I mean, it feels good to know that I really didn't have a choice to do anything. So, of course, there is a choice in a pivot from being an artist to being a working artist and one who works full time at this. Tell us about that transition. Well, I've Ah. Ah. I used to do freelance artwork in a lot of, like, film, special effects and things like that. And the hours were really long, and I really like doing it. But I really wanted to find a way that I could one move back to the Bay area, which is where I'm from originally. And, uh, be kind of have a little bit more free time. Spend time with my family, have a baby. So you got toe live a life and be an artist. Yeah, and that's really the full experience that a lot of people want. Yeah, So that's been the real motivation for me. Yeah. So you sell your work online, right? Yeah. What's that experience like? Well, I really just started and I signed up for an Etsy site a long time ago, but I really just started pretty recently in the recent months, trying to work on having a website and everything. So I'm redesigning my website, have the Etsy site, and prior to that, it's always been doing craft fairs have been using craft fairs, probably for 10 years in Los Angeles and here, cagily and other cities. Yeah, and so I'm hoping it's gonna be a really good experience selling online. So it's happening right now is happening right now you're seeing how it goes. And then the decision. I mean, I'm assuming this Tell me if I'm right or wrong is to be able to sell more. Yes. Okay, yes. The goal is to be ableto have ah, all of my toys and jewelry and everything available online. Be able to make a lot of things that I can make multiples off, you know? So people come by, you know, some of the same things over and over, but then also have some, you know, unique. One of a kind items, maybe more collectable things, things like that. So I'm hoping that having an online site will make it easy to present both. Do you want to talk through a few of the designs here like I see some fantastic cut out necklaces way. Have some felt necklaces Year. We've got some dolls. Top talk through this. Okay, Well, um, there's Loch Ness Monster in Bigfoot, which were some recurring themes. Okay, there's a little recurring themes. There's gnomes, hedgehogs, mushrooms, a lot of you know, floral, floral and botanical things. Tree houses. There's treehouse paintings, treehouse necklaces. Um, who is your ideal customer? Who by believe that's a very good question. I actually have people of all ages buying things, and it's it seems like the necklace is this line of necklaces kind of applies to everybody. And obviously, some of the more whimsical things tends to be maybe a little bit of a younger audience. And the toys I get both kids and adults toy collectors. Um, so I guess maybe it's a little bit everybody Okay, If you like cute things, if you don't like you, like, really dark, No heavy things. They're probably not like my work. I didn't see that. You know, if you want If you this is, uh this is for the lighter side of living happy, whimsical, you know, And with everything going on in the world. We could always use a little more. Wednesday, I think suddenly. So where do where do people find you online? I have an Etsy site, which would just be I wrote it down etc dot com shop slash Katie Kristin. Okay. You could also go to kitty kristen dot com, which is my website. Kind of under construction. But the shop works. Yeah, that's the most important part. Artists out there. Your websites under construction. Just make sure that the shop part works. Um, I'm on Pinterest. Katie. Kristen Pin. Okay. And instagram and Facebook. Katie. Kristen. So Okay. You find Katie, Kristen? You'll probably find fantastic. So is there anything else you want to share? Oh, if anyone finds any cool things, let me know. I'll buy it for me. Yeah, and actually, this is I can see a lot of opportunity here. I'm just taking a look at all of Katie's beautiful, whimsical designs. I mean, I have lots of little ones in my life around me and these air wonderful gifts. And in the in the world of mass production and things that look, um, unoriginal, I think there's a lot of originality here, so thank thank you. Yeah, really nice to me. It tells me. All right, Thanks.
