Pretty Fun Designs - Jewelry

we have the fantastic talented Richelle Richelle, give us your name and the name of your business. Hi. My name is Raquel Small. And the name of my business is pretty fun designs. Okay. Pretty fun designs. Tell us about the art that you make. I love telling stories. So a lot of the art that I make is a mixture of pieces, pictures, functional items, beautiful design that showcase stories. You know, it could be a simple story of just design. I do love circles, so you'll see that is a design I use often. I love the compass is fun and functional. I love the little propellers that spin. And I love doing things with pictures that tell stories I love working with metals, some beads beat work, and, um, course I love earrings. And you'll see the circle thing quite often. Yeah. What is that all about? Why circles, um circles circle tattoo. I have, um, to me, circles represent one of course cycle of life. Um, it's ah, it's a sort of creative beginning and in and I think with a story telling storie...

s also, you know, you've got the beginning, middle and in, um, just visually, they just they just bring me pleasure. It's bringing me pleasure to I'm really loving the diversity of the designs. Here you have quite the creative mind and all sorts of different shapes and sizes. This is, you know, there's something for everyone here. Yeah, for all the women in my life, see a piece for each of them because it's all quite unique. But who knew that you could do so many different variations on circles? Yeah, well, I love playing with the different material, so I do find that I will just keep creating. I'm not limiting myself to just one style or one genre, just like Teoh. I just like to create. And I once had a woman who was visiting and she came. And it is like a little store within a little booth, because there are different styles and she came and she ended up just shopping from herself, for her daughter's for her sister's. It was a really great cell, and it was also very fun because it was a variety. It wasn't just, you know, all this name style, so she really felt like she had kind of went through the whole went through, like 2 to 3 stores to get everything. Yeah, and I love that you shared that awesome customer story with us because, you know, it's great to know when business owners have that awesome customer story and the needs of their customers are being met and that's being shared back. So what? How does that make you feel? It feels great, because I I love interacting with customers. And I love to know that what I'm doing is working, you know, and that I don't know when at work. How do you know when it worked? Well, compliments. People come and they say they like my work. People come and they buy my work. Um, And people, one thing I get a lot, which I really appreciate that people say, is that Wow, I've never seen anything like this, and that makes me feel really good, because it just means my imagination is happy and playing and being authentic. What it wants to do versus what? Um, you know, I'm not just making stuff that sells. I hope it sells, but I'm making it cause I like to have fun. Yeah, let's talk about your imagination because I'm here to get to know you too. This is a very beneficial to the customers, the potential customers out there, but also to the other artists that were serving in the crafters and the makers. This is our entryway. Creative lives entryway into our craft channel. So we want to start to build this conversation. So talk about life of an artist. Okay, Where did it begin? Well, um, it began this. This carnation began. I say I've been making jewelry for over 25 years, but this line, I would say about nine years ago, and it started with paper and I would find great patterns and Prince and I would make jewelry out of, um and I thought I used to always joke like, Oh, what do you know? Everything I needed to know. I learned in kindergarten using wood, glue and paper and some varnish. And I was making things double sided and I was doing cool things with the design of it. It was just it was wonderful. And then I started adding metals and stones and just really making more sort of a collage of it and being able to tell more stories and giving myself more permission to, like, really? Like Oh, wow. I've always been interested. I love design. Look, and I love history. And I love music and, um, color and I get to just get to play. You know, I'm not fun to play its fund of 10. That's what you dio I do for a living. I pretty much play. Yeah. No. How long has this been like a full time thing for you? Oh, it goes off and on. Um, I would say full time for the last last four years. It's been really, Really Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I am happy to do fairs so I can get out of the house. Okay, so you're actually making all the right is making all the pieces. Okay. Is there anyone to help you? I've had a different times. You know, sometimes I asked my family members to help. Oh, our friends. But how did that happen? You have to bribe them with cookies. There. You pretty much much Don't do help out. But you know, I tend, you know, you have to do the bulk of it, and it's fine, but I know that some point to grow that I may need to get more help, and sometimes, you know, it's hard asking for help. But I know that that is my next step. So what's the big vision for you then? Where do you Where you going? You know, I would I look also I love sculpture. And I would like Teoh do jewelry and also do sculpture and Teoh. Um I guess I'm looking for a permanent home for my stuff and I don't know if it's I had my own store for a while, but then I realized I couldn't leave. Okay, I had to be. You're not a shopkeeper type person. I love it. But the next time, if I do anything like that again, I would do it with a partner because it was hard being there all the time. Right? So But you didn't know that until you're in that. Exactly. Yeah, And there was lots of joy because you really get to interact with people constantly, which is great, and fill their needs and do some custom work. But I I just wanted Teoh. I want toe be able to have a lot more freedom. So, you know, I work at home and do that now? Yeah, and that flexibility as a working artist, you know, it has to work with your life to write. It helps. Yeah, it certainly does. Okay, great. So obviously, you have all your beautiful pieces here and therefore sale live here at the first ever Indy crash.
