Fusion Page: Overview

Now let's take a look at the Fusion page in Resolve. Fusion is pretty much where you do anything fancy. Things like visual effects, things like graphics, anything that you would think you might use After Effects or Photoshop, or kind of any kind of 3D animation or graphics program for. That's really what Fusion is made for inside of DaVinci Resolve. And the cool thing is that Fusion interacts with your timeline just like all the other pages of Resolve. So the general idea is that you can open up a shot from your timeline and work with it inside of Fusion without having to go to a different program or open up some kind of separate app. It all lives right here. Some of the pages in Resolve are really like having an entire different app built right into the interface. And this is especially true with Fusion because Fusion actually was a standalone app that got integrated into Resolve. And so it's very, very powerful. And it's also integrated with the timeline, so you don't have to roundtr...

ip to another app. Fusion is a node-based compositor. What those fancy words mean is that you use these little things called nodes to build a flowchart to actually build your effects and your graphics and your composites. This is opposed to something that uses layers like After Effects or Photoshop or even things like the edit page where you can build stuff up in layers. And nodes take a little bit of getting used to, which we're going to talk about here in a few minutes, but for now if you know that all the fancy stuff pretty much happens inside of Fusion using nodes, you're gonna be just fine.

I'm glad to see the DaVinci Resolve courses have been added to Creative Live. Casey Faris does a great job with his teaching. In this course he clearly explains the layout of each page and shares example workflows for each. It's really good as an intro to Resolve.

Helpful class if you are interested in DaVinci Resolve. Casey Faris presents the information clearly and doesn't waste time. Looking forward to his Color Correction and Fusion classes.
