Understanding What "Membership" SIte Means

I want to talk a little bit about membership sites. Um, and we kind of touched on digital downloads just a bit. A Sfar is working with blue commerce, but I want to talk a little bit about membership sites because these could be these air. Someone like that. These are the big ones. Okay, These are things that can either be very simple or definitely more complex, one of the big ones out there And I have a few links that we can take a look at. The big ones out there is called Member Press. Let me take a look at this one. Member press is it's a plug in for WordPress, and it makes it just read it makes it easy to create a membership based site. Now, woo commerce and other plug ins like that. You can add on to it toe add membership capabilities, but this one is specifically meant for a membership site. Now, the reason why you know this is this is one of those things where membership systems can be pretty complex. Okay, And you're gonna find that there are not They're not that many plug ins o...

ut there for WordPress. They're free for membership simply because it is pretty complex. There's a lot going on, a matter of fact, like Member Press, you're going to see we have, ah, Business Edition and a developer edition develop tradition, probably can put it on a bunch of sites or so many sights. Yeah, unlimited sites and businesses. One side. Okay, Some of the other ones that I've actually used in the past I've used, like, dap de ap digital access past. There's there's a bunch of them out there that I've used. But what I want to do is I want to show you kind of an interface just to give you an idea of what you'd be dealing with. So I'm gonna go to my set up here, and I don't actually have this on the live out there, So I'm just going to show you real quick what I've got logging. This is just a local site, but I All I did was I put the plug in and I installed it. It's a little bit older version, but I want to show you this. This is a a membership service or membership site, plugging essentially called Digital Access pass and This is one of a 1,000,000,000 out there. And like I said, this is one that I have used a lot in the past. I've also used wish list. There's a ton of, but I'm a click on done dap here, and it's gonna ask me to log in. And I guarantee you, I'm not gonna remember le my log in. Yeah, I know exactly what I'm gonna do here. Um, So here's the thing with this one, I just want to kind of talk through this just a little bit. The idea with these is they're very similar to the wu commerce. Simply because what's gonna go on as they have this entire folder structure to this out of your sight And and there's a lot of going on. There's a lot of settings, involves a lot of stuff going on, and this is gonna doom or like, a full blown shopping cart system simply because you're gonna have to skin it. You're gonna have to work with the CSS and styling and theme and different things like that to get the look the way you want it to, because this thing is gonna actually generate a lot of pages for you. It's also gonna set up things like your cart system and set up like a little box for your shopping cart, all this kind of thing, and you have to go in and make it look the way you want it to, cause honestly, a lot of these look horrible, weakened app all of my opinion. But the only thing about this one is a lot of these types of members of solutions. Not a lot of some of them do not have payments built in. You have tow, hook them to payment services and some of the payment services that I've used in the past. There's a 1,000,000 that they work with. I've already shown you authorized dot net. This is a big one. Authorized dot net is a big one. Another one that I've used in the past is called Click Bank. Click Bank is a big one, and it's it's a lot of these are actually a lot, but some of these direction marketplaces include bank is a marketplace where you can go and they do the payment processing for you, and they track all this stuff, give you invoices, do all kinds of crazy stuff. The memberships offer also does some of that, too. But this is These are different solutions that you need to sign up for, to build a work with a lot of his membership based sites. It's not just a simple is a PayPal button, right, Although PayPal button, we could actually take recurring payments, which is kind of cool. But there's a lot of things that we want to do with recurring payments, like memberships that you're gonna you know, it's gonna get charged. That's awesome. That's a great picture right there. They're gonna get charged again and again as far as working with and working with these types of membership software these mentorship systems, if you will. Like I said with this WordPress and click Bank etcetera, Uh, you've got a lot of settings to set. You got a lot of things to deal with. Its a lot of manual set up, and these a lot of these will actually have you. You can pay them to set it up for you. Okay, we have up cells. We have cross cells. We have drips dripping content. We have the ability to go in and set up. You know monthly bi monthly. You know, did we want people to build a freezer account and then reactivate it? This is all stuff that gets so complicated. Gets really complicated for the developer. But for us getting these plug ins matter of installing and setting all the settings and making sure they all work hooking up the payment processor to the actual sexual plug in in WordPress and getting all that to work, it's a lot. It really is. It can be. There are very simple membership plug ins that don't give a lot of options out there. Member presses pretty good gives us some options. I've only used it a couple times. I gotta be honest, but there are some simpler ones out there you can use as well. So I just wanted to mention, though is because it is part of this selling process and it's it's a big deal

I appreciate all of the knowledge that Brian offers. He has a wealth of knowledge, however he tends to "jump around" while speaking on a topic. For example, during the PayPal section, he spends more time speaking about other sites instead of just delivering the content. This made it a bit harder for me to follow along. I actually became frustrated. Overall, the course is useful but in the future, I recommend that he look at the topics and ensure that he sticks to the information we actually need.
