Educational Storytelling on Snapchat

So let's get started with with educational storytelling on Snapchat, anybody can tell educational stories. We all have something that we know that we can share with others. You know, whether it's raising chickens in the backyard or prepping for your wedding. Whatever it is, we can all either share information that's in our head through our words. Or we can show people by demonstrating what it is that we do and teach them in that way. Brands air doing this in a number of ways, whether they're small brands or big brands, depending upon what is they do. If they're, you know, if they make paper, they can take you into the paper factory. Show you. This is how we make paper. If it's a bakery, here's how we bake a cake. You're going to get to meet a guy who, uh, who's the third generation chocolate here this afternoon and he shows people how they make the chocolate. He's basically the Willy Wonka of Sydney, Australia, and that it's gonna be great fun to bring a month. So a lot of ways to tell...

educational stories and the goal in all storytelling is you have you're beginning your middle and your end have an idea in your mind of what it is that you're wanting to say and where you're wanting to go. And as we think about best practices, you don't want to go on and on. Member Snapchat forces you to be brief. There's those constraints. You know, if the cameras just rolling and rolling, you could just trail off this way in that way. But there's something about that 12th time limit that make sure. Okay, what am I going to say in this seconds? And if I take this picture, how long does somebody need to see this picture to get the point? Now? I don't expect any of you to be pros at this right off the bat. In fact, it's an ongoing process. Don't be intimidated by it. It practice makes perfect. And just doing it is what's going to give you what you need to tell great stories. So you saw this morning video from a friend of mine who is it works with best buy and marketing capacity and is doing some tremendous brand influence or stuff is one of the most creative individuals that I've seen, especially when it comes to using the tools on Snapchat to tell stories, and he does all kinds of stories. Most of them are entertaining, but they're also educational and informational, and his name is Sean Ayala. Sean is an incredible guy, and I want to give you a taste of Sean doing educational snaps. And in this particular story, which he did recently, it's about using Snapchat memories. Hey, guys, today's Snapchat tips will have you building your audience in no time. Tip is featuring your audience using call to actions and the way to do that by using Snapchat memories. But first you need to create a story that allows your audience to participate in Interact with you. That's the only way is gonna happen. I always include, at the end of all my stories, a call to action question, asking you to snap me a doodle, a picture, something related to the story. Oh, pro tip. Use a call to action that's easy for your audience to execute and do. Simplicity is key. You will find that your audience will do it and snap them to you. And when they do screen, shine snap. That's important. Each snap a screenshot will be stored on your camera. Now, with the beauty of Snapchat memories, you can upload those pictures directly to your store. Now here's a secret love getting featured on other accounts, especially on a platform that does not allow discover ability. When they see themselves featured, they'll end up telling their friends, sharing your information, growing your audience. 01 last thing. You are as good as your last snap. So they maintain that audience. Keep pushing out incredible content. I want to know what you thought about today's snapped active. So snap me. See you next time, folks. Would you please welcome to our creative live Mr Sean, Iowa. Sean, thank you for having me. I appreciate it. Excellent. Man, I'm so glad you're here. And we've had an opportunity to share two of your videos, the one that we just shared of how to do memories and then the other of when you took over the account for the San Diego Chargers and awesome. Yeah, thank you. There. People have been able to get a glimpse into your creativity and you are probably as's faras using the Snapchat tools. You're the most creative individual that I've seen. So I'm imagining that you started drawing when you were a little boy, right? Yes, I actually I remember back in kindergarten, I was really good at just doodling on paper. So ever since I was small, I had this dream to become an animator at Disney since I live in Los Angeles, California, And, uh, ever since then just seeing the Disney stuff, I just wanted to enemy and create. Unfortunately, my career route took a different path in the digital side marketing side, but still all the same thing. So, yes, well, I would agree with that. I wouldn't say unfortunately, because you now have. I don't know how many tens of thousands of followers on Snapchat it's It's pretty high. Your stories, air viewed by a lot of people every day you have by storytelling become somebody who is a go to person every day. And now you're working with many big brands to tell stories. How do you approach storytelling when you're working with these brands? You know, um, great question. My first approach, when it comes to anything that I create, especially where brands or myself, is keeping in mind the audience I think, Um, the audience is the key to a lot of this stories. Because I'm actually think my story's air, never about me or the brands is never about me. Is about how do you feature or how do you encourage the audience to participate A and be a part of the story? Um, because not all the time. Um, especially on a platform that it does not allow discovery bility. You don't want to just see the same person all the time. People want to be seen. And I feel as if you create content that gets them involved, they are more likely to participate and then tell everyone else that they've got that they've got shown in a brand's snap story. Well, and that's what you did with your take over the Chargers. You ask people in the head your thumb up in the helmet and you ask people toe get their drawing tool out on Snapchat and create something that would, uh, that you were then used. So how does that work? People send you all these and you saved the screens. How do you actually make that happen? Yep. So, um, when I'm working with a brand. It's usually so Let me break this down because there's the beginning part which is creating the story, right? But the real work happens after the story goes live, because at that moment people are, um, quick to engage with the brand or the individual, and you need to be there for the next 24 hours participating in the conversation. And when I do have a call to action in my stories, I'm there for the next eight hours, 24 hours receiving the snaps that are being sent in and screen, capturing every single one on die. Don't stop at just green capturing, I say Thank you. I appreciate you taking a moment to experience our story today. Um, just that one on one communication which the APP is built for, I think is very important on that side of it as well. But then I screenshot, and then I used memories to upload their images. So that way they feel as if all the time that they spent to create this, you know, hat on a helmet on a thumb, that it was appreciated and will show it so well, this is the life of a professional snap chatter. And, you know, for a lot of people, it's they can't treat. It is a full time job. The people we have here in our studio audience and watching via creative life at home Just getting started with Snapchat. If they want to become a storyteller and get a following in an audience, what are some of the tips that you would give to them for, You know, once they understand? Okay, this is how I use the tools. How should they then tell stories? I would make sure you have. Just like you mentioned number one. Tell a story with a beginning, middle and end. I think that is really important to make sure you understand just the structure. So if you're gonna have coffee, just don't show that you're you're having coffee. Have some fun with it. Do some close ups of the coffee. Um, talk about the, uh, flavor you enjoy. So really think about bringing it toe life creatively versus just snapping it. I think making sure you have a call to action in all your stories. So that way you can have, um, participation from the audience engaging in some type of way is really important. So those would be my top two in making sure. Uh, especially when you're starting to have fun with the platform. Yeah. So can I put you on the spot with your creative juices? Okay, So what's your canal coming up here for a second? Grab, Grab the microphone. Spontaneous hot seat here. Just because I'm fascinated by your process. This is Colonel and Kunal. When asked what his passion is, he is actually very knowledgeable about raising backyard chickens raising chickens. Right. So you're Kunal or let's say you are being asked to represent his brand to tell people, you know, what kind of you know, creative out of the box thinking comes to mind here. What you could dio you know, I immediately immediately think of using either the chicken emoji or drawing the emoji everywhere I go, right making that a part of every one of my stories or snaps, um, and then just creatively telling a story around the steps, um, of raising them right and probably doing in segments. But I think for you just having that emoji or that drawing for a little friend of yours with you, all the time and your stories will establish you as the chicken raising person on. And then you can just continue document whatever stories that come out of that for you through snatcher. I kind of I kind of see a superhero. The adventures of Chicken Man, right? Could he become chicken Man? I see you're drawing of guy with a cape and, you know, he's a super super hero. I quickly think of Rocky Balboa chasing Thanks. Going on when you think with you, See, And I know that Shawn could be put on the spot because this is the way creativity works. So, you know, store as we're discussing storytelling, we're talking about different kinds of storytelling. And your first story was really an educational piece about memories. But your stories bleed over really in tow, all the modes because they're informative. You're sharing information and knowledge and they're entertaining. Do you separate all those? Or when you tell a story, Are you trying to engage? You know, the whole package? Yeah, for me, I am trying to get engagement. I think for me, that is the most important thing. 80% of my time on the platform is on the back end on that personal side that you had mentioned conversating with people, Um, I at the minimum post once a week. So I'm not constantly in there creating stories for people to watch or documenting my life. I'm really thinking about the audience and creating content that will allow me to have it a one on one conversation with them on the back end. Okay, so Snapchat keeps adding all these cool new tools. And as we close out our time, I'm curious. You know prognosticate for us. Get your your crystal ball out and talk a little bit about what you see for the future of Snapchat and knowing that you are all in on it. Why you think it's so important for brands and businesses of all sizes to be paying attention? One. I think they're going to enter the library. Um, I think it is a interesting proposition for them to, um just get us live in the moment and having people watch us live versus this 24 hour time free. And, uh, I think just overall the importance of the platform millennials are really soaking this platform up and even I mean, it's like Facebook, right? Everyone is getting to it right now as well. And there's this golden opportunity for many businesses, brands, individuals to stand out on this platform because it's not a discoverable type of platform where, um, you know who's leading the pack. It's really about word of mouth. And if a brand gets in there marketer individual, right now, tell their story like, uh Cone. All right. His name. Oh, no, Cornelius, He goes in there. He could be the dominant person around. Raising chickens. Andi. Everyone could know who he is. Immediately. Based on his individual uniqueness on that story or the story is trying to tell, I just think it's just huge for Branson market. He is chicken man s. So I want to do a quick snap while I have you on here. I'm gonna try and pull something off. Colonel, can I get you Thio? Thio, I want you to do video for me and you know how to do it now, right? You're just gonna hold Hold the button down and I'm gonna come over here. So what I want you to do, Sean, is I want you to high five the camera okay. And then I'm gonna high five you, But not yet. I'm gonna tell you to do it. All right, So ready. Go. You got to snap it. Not when you're ready. Ready? Hey, I'm with Charlie. Ella, Sean. High five, buddy. Boom. Awesome given up for Sean. Way Got to do it again. Take to take two to Shaunie. L a high five, buddy. We'll give it up for Sean. Hey, thanks a lot, Sean. Appreciate you Snap on my friend. And I appreciate the opportunity is always Take your body snapping, guys. All right, we'll see a show on Iowa do sale to make sure you are following him just to his name right there at Sean I l A You will be inspired as you continue to watch his content. He's one of those That's number one on my list because I know he's going to do stuff that blows me away, and they're not stick, man.
