How to Create Snaps

you have choices with your camera. Let's go ahead and go to the phone. All your devices should have two cameras front facing and rear facing, just like all your other camera devices. You've got the little rotate button ramp. See if I can point to it with my finger from here, Right there. That right there. And so So I'm looking at me, and now I'm looking at you all. All right. So that's the direction the snap is. Which camera do you want to use? You know, based on what is you want to show? Do you need a flash or not? Like many other devices, I'm learning how to do this Here, Right up there. I'll make it so you could see right up here we have the flash, so it's either on or off. In most cases, my flashes is off. I think some cases you might want to use it, but I find Flash usually doesn't give the best pictures anyhow, so I tend to not use it okay to there's two ways to then snap the circle, which is right here. Soup is where the magic happens. And if we want to take a picture just like ...

we do with our one takes nap. We face the camera where we want Everybody smile and I simply tap the button. Now I have a still just like that, real easy to use. It works the same regardless of which camera, using front or back. Just tap it, touch it. It's pictures taken now. We don't like the picture. We don't want to post it in the upper left corner. There's our friend the X get to know and love the X We don't like it didn't turn out the way we wanted. It's not a one take snap. We just say I don't want to use that one Same whether it's a photo or ah, video and to take a video. We're going to use this same button right here on Lee. We're going to hold it for the duration of the video. So for this use you need to have your hands on your device. Now you can take a video of up to 10 seconds in length. So again, if I hold down on the button, we are creating a video snap for as long as I hold the button up to 10 seconds. So again I hold down on the button. We're creating a video snap for as long as I hold the button up to 10 cents that will just keep playing and playing and playing and playing and playing until either delete it or post it. Now, if I'm gonna embellish this video, I'm gonna make myself crazy listening to myself. So what you can actually do is hit your mute on your phone if you don't want to listen to yourself again and again again as you're prepping it to post. Okay, so now that I've got my video here, there's a lot of things I can do with it. But just to basically post it as is, would be the same as when we posted the still I'm gonna tap the third icon from on the bottom on the left, which is the square with the plus sign. If I tap that, you could see right at the top, says, adding one snap to your story. It's kind of gray, but now it says it's added, and if I tap the triple dots next to my story, you'll see it says just now, next to the snap up top, and there it is. And if your audio is on, then you would hear the audio from the snap you just posted. Easy, right? Yes, simple. Good. Then the next thing that you're gonna want to consider when you're in your camera is the camera orientation. Now there is a debate among snap chatters, with one side much more heavily leaning than the other. We're very used to when we're taking photos either doing portrait or landscape. Snapchat is a very portrait oriented platform. You might think, Oh, this will look much prettier on landscape. When people are viewing snaps, they're used to looking at him this way. And if you take it portrait or landscape, they're gonna be like, Oh, that's weird. They took it this way. The only times I will do landscape view on my snaps is that there's gonna be a series of them for a really good reason. And I tell people ahead of time. Hey, this next set of snaps is done in landscape mode and then I'll do this while I'm actually shooting. I'll actually go. So turn your phone this way like that and I will orient them and I'll draw a little arrow that tells them to do that. So it's facing the right way. I guide them. People are not used to consuming Snapchat in landscape. It is a portrait oriented mode. So unless you have a really good reason to do that, then don't stick with portrait mode. Um, it's just it's just makes more sense. OK, so now we have a lot of different features, and I think rather that I'm not going to go to the slides. I'm just gonna talk about some of the things that I'm gonna show you when we're gonna do these things. And any time I show you something, feel free to try it. Hey, I'm not gonna feel like you're ignoring me. If your head's air down and at home, I can't see you anyway. So just go ahead and try it out. This is very hands on Workshop E. And I want you to feel like that thing he just told me I got that. I just did it. Boom. You don't have to add everything to your story. If you don't want to, you can try it, play with it and then delete it. Add your story. Whatever components you want to add. Oh, and by the way, before I do that, what I want to do is jump over two stories and those of you that I was able to spot that added me. Um, I renamed a few of you and put a thumb in front of your name. So there's four of you that I've got here. And let's just take a quick look at your one takes naps, See? So everybody comes in with a grade out name. That's because Snapchat doesn't automatically pull all the content down and wants to know what you want to watch. So when I tap on somebody see how it loads up. So that means that snap is now their interview. So when I tap you again, there is a look. Even got a bit emoji on there. Well done. You're you're ahead of us. I love it. Okay, so this raises their sally. She snapped me snapping hell meta. Right. And there's your selfie Well done. And me again. Que In here, Sarah. Great. Snapping her snapping my snap code. Well done, Sarah. Getting sent. Snaps? Yep. I told you to post this. Blame it on me guilty as charged. You'll notice that your name is backwards because it is the front facing camera. And so when you're posting stuff, especially, there's texted. If you're trying to show them something that has words on it, you might want to use the back facing camera to show them that way. Otherwise, they're gonna be like Then they got to go to the mirror and put their phone up. What does it say? It's a mystery. I don't know. Let's see Hirsch entree. There we go. The perfect I love it. Thank you for doing that. That was worked out beautifully. And now you could understand why. And this we have all done this. You're not alone. Which is why trying to let people know up front here is the best lovely picture. Well done. So and I know others of you did as well. And if I don't have a thumb, next union followed me. Come up to me during the break and let's make sure we re name yours as well so he can pick on you also. Okay, Perfect. So there's a lot of features in Snapchat and we're gonna go over each of them some of them are your ability to speed up or slow down your videos. We have things like location based filters that we're going to go through, especially we're here in San Francisco, some great filters. We're going to talk about the funny lenses that you can put on the Pew King. Rainbow is one of the most known Facebook Snapchat lenses. Was that a Freudian slip? Bury their Facebook? They're competing in their own way. We'll talk about that. Well, there's face swapping. We're gonna talk about duration of snaps. We're gonna talk about saving and deleting them. In fact, let's just go ahead and manage that part right now. I'm gonna go to this. Um, take this picture. It's awful, But let's post it anyway. Okay? I just snapped it. And then I realized that was out of place in my story. There was something else I wanted to say first. So if I go to my snaps and I tap on the one I just posted, you'll see at the bottom, right? There's two options. One of them is a trashcan. Yes. What that does anyone Bueller? Bueller? Yep. Deletes. And the other one is a little arrow down. It's a download that allows me to save the snap. So in this case, let's just delete that. Do you want to delete the snap? I say Yes. Now, sometimes if you spend a little time like actually drawing on it or adding text. If you go to delete it, it will say, Are you sure you want to delete this Napster piece? It's like you know, you put time into this is not just a picture Snapchat knows, like there's an effort you put in here. You sure you want to trash it, right? Eso That's the one thing. And let's go to the one I did previously here. And if I tap the arrow in the bottom right, does a little spinny thing now just saved it to my camera roll. So if you do A, we're going to talk a little bit about how you save snaps to Snapchat memories, which is their own bank of saving videos and images and entire stories, or saving them to our device. So what I just showed you there is saving deleting it and saving it to your own device.
