Snapchat Etiquette
Snapchat etiquette. A few of the do's and don't first thing you need to know is how to block somebody. That is inappropriate, Alex, I'm not gonna block you because we're friends now. But I'm gonna show people here that if we click on somebody and then go to the gear and tap it, all you got to do is click that third link down there says Block. And that person may not send me snaps. They may not view snaps. And I've got to say, Out of all the time I've been on Snapchat for the rep that Snapchat had of some people misusing it. I have only received one or two inappropriate snap since last November, and those people got instantly blocked. There's a zero tolerance policy, so at least for me, you get to decide what your policy is. So the adults are arriving is the good news because the brands air arriving in the money is arriving. So some of the other things that that you want to watch out for with with Snapchat is, uh, we'll go into this a little bit more when we get the story telling. But g...
oing on too long when I have this stage, I have a tendency to go on too long on Snapchat. I try to edit myself a little bit more because the 12th constraint inspires creativity. It limits you and makes you think Oh, how long should I go on? Well, I can only do seconds at a time when people take snaps and they're always in the same angle talking the same way it gets boring. So this isn't so much an etiquette as it is the best practices thing. But vary your camera angles. Try this way. Try this side. Go up here, go down here, try a different filter. Go black and white. Go with the more saturated filter. Keep it fresh if you've got a story and it's gonna take you 10 snaps to tell it And it's just you talking telling the story, vary it. Mix it up. People who just go on and on with the same look. Another 10 seconds and me talking another 10 seconds and me talking another 10 seconds they might be saying something amazing, but because they've lost me visually, I'm not gonna hear the message. This is why, even in production, like this odds are those of you that are watching at home. The camera angles continue to change because it was just one angle. Looking at me all the time you be like give us something else to look at. Please let us see some slides. Let us see some video. Show us the audience keeps moving, so keep yours moving. You're doing a video production. Do not private snap people unless it is for them. I get these offenders every day. They don't get it. You're nodding your head. You probably see it all the time. People will snap you stuff that has nothing to do with you because they want you to see their stories. They're going. Please see me please see me watch my steps. I guess what I get to decide which snaps I watch And when people repeatedly send me snaps that have nothing to do with me I'm like you know what this is? I'm drawing a boundary here. If I wanted to watch your stuff, I would go watch it. I'm not sending you my private snaps unless it's for you by send your private snap, Suzy. It's because I have a message just for you. That is the most important part of the snap chat. A kid, as far as I'm concerned, understand that when you're telling a story that you want others to see, it goes to your story and then they choose whether or not they're going toe. Watch your story. Private snaps are for conversations with that specific individual. You can also do, you know, like maybe there's a group of 45 of you and you're sending it to a bunch of friends. You're all talking about the same thing you want. All these friends did be in that conversation. That's fine, too. You can private snap more than one person at a time. So, for example, um hi. Okay, now I showed you how to add it to a story which is the plus sign icon, but you'll notice there's the blue arrow down in the bottom, right? If I tap that now, I have options. Aiken tap right next to my story. That's the hard way to add to my story. I showed you the fast way. But where this is useful is to say I also want to send this to my friends Kamal and Raisa now normally, unless that concerned them, I wouldn't send them a snap like that. But since you're right here for the purpose of the example, I just sent them both at the same time. That private snap and you can send to 200 people. Ah, private snap the same snap, which is why people abuse it because they do a snap and then you go type, type, type, type, type, type, type type that that that that that picked up down their whole friends list. And there's another reason that people do. This is on your main page. There is something called your snap score right underneath my name. You could see it says 19,209. That is a meaningless number meaningless. It merely signifies how many snaps you've sent and received privately. It gives it a score. Yes, you get trophies for it, but other than that, it means nothing. And there are people that will send you empty snaps, snaps that look like this. I will open my inbox to find a 12th of five second snap that looks just like that. Nothing. And they're doing it for one reason because they want to increase their snap score. They don't understand that it doesn't mean anything, Snapchat ticket says. Don't send snaps just to increase your snap score the meaningless waste of time.
