Use Inspirational Storytelling

Let's talk about inspirational story telling, you know, I told you how important I felt. Inspirational was because before people will remember what you tell them here, you have to touch the heart. You have to have an emotional connection with them, have to have a reason for them to listen to you. And that comes when you inspire people. When you make them believe the truth that they are more than just one in seven billion walking the planet. But that they have a purpose and that they're here for a reason and that they can make a difference. And any brand, any individual that can incorporate this type of storytelling is going to capture the hearts and minds people that are watching. So Virginia Sallis cast a Leo is a friend of mine. She goes by at Ginny, can breathe on Snapchat at Ginny can breathe. She, um, is an amazing woman. She is. Ah, really has one of the first Snapchat agencies that is serving big brands. She's also instrumental behind Snap Happens, which is a conference taking p...

lace in London and International Snapchat Conference and behind the Ghostie Awards, which is a Snapchat Award show. That's going to be taking place at the same time. You're never gonna meet a more down to earth riel person. And I want to give you a quick taste of what she does on Snapchat through her demo reel. Hi. I'm not find one thing that you can't stop doing and do that myself about troubling all around the world and being a full time digital moment. Yeah, that's right. That is my job. Here. Thank you. Jenny could breathe. Stopped dead in Spain, Germany, Austria, Ireland, USA, Australia. You name it will most likely see me dancing on the street, hugging strangers on meeting amazing people all over the world. People that have gotten to know someone of, like, families. Flacco here live in Austin, Texas, for Sapphire Southwest. My real name is Mike. This is a mike. This isn't like to It's a whole lot of like, OK, I have to go now. Would you please welcome Virginia Sallis cast? Still e o coming to us from where you're in New York, right? Yes, I am. You have been so many places, by the way you are. I am one of those people that you met because of Snapchat. You are one of those people. And I thank my lucky stars because I love you. Ah, you're so sweet. Well, we haven't had the chance to meet in person yet. And I'm looking for I know, right? So eventually that will happen. You just came to New York after a whirlwind tour of where? Okay, Uh, from Spain to Costa Rica to Austria, back to Spain than all throughout the U. S. I kind of went Florida, New York, Austin, California and then back to Europe, to Spain, London to hell. And the whole snap happened thing. Austria, Ireland's Dominican Republic. And now I'm here. That's a lot of travel and the u A year in your a snap. Nomad. Correct? Yeah. OK, so you said in your demo reel that you snapped cause you can't not snap. Um, extract. Take us in the little deeper detail there. Why do you love Snapchat so much? Well, I've just been since I was a little girl. I've always been a storyteller. I've been a nomad my whole life. So I've been to 15 different schools, lived in seven different countries, lives in 40 different houses. And so when I was a kid. I always wanted to share my experiences with other people. Um and I was very awkward growing up, and literature and film really helped me with that. And so I've been on YouTube for, like, 10 years, and video is my platform. So that's how a story tell. That's how I share my life with the world. So in my snapshot, it's more like you're having a relationship. You and I are together, were in love, and you get to just come with me everywhere. I love that you're your word pictures. I mean, this is This is why we brought you in here on the inspirational segment because you offer a real counterbalance. Someone hand you are This heart is just out there, not just on your sleeve, but all parts of your body as you are out. Just loving on people. On the other hand, you're working with major brands and I think you're heading to the United Nations shortly. I just came from there. Okay, well, tell me what that was all about. Yes. So Snapchat work obviously with them bringing out their message further. I think that a lot of organizations, especially traditional organizations struggle with it that change, that evolution that we're having and technology and reaching our community because it just takes so long to implement things. You're seeing lean pain startups using all these new technologies like nothing, because the whole process of getting everything approved is very small and very easy. But someone like the U. N. Or you know, Apple, for example, this would have to take a year or two get approved through all the stations. Basically, um, so I just think it's an amazing opportunity for someone with such a big message. Has a traditional background. If they can implement quickly, they're going to spread their message. So far, invite, especially coming from like they're almost historic. The U. N You know, this is something you learn about in school, so being able to interact with them in the personal one on one level, hold on. This is the same person. Okay, that's working with big brands in the U. N. That also made a lot of noise by standing in a city for whatever people think about this in your underwear with a sign. Talk about that experience and what the point was of that and what you learned. So other than you know, my business skills, which is one of my passions, business and marketing. My other passion is humanity work. My overall level is to bring humanity closer together on a global level. And so I do these social experiments called conscious acts of kindness. So from hugging strangers to I connection experiments where you're just sitting on the street and invite people to share eye contact with me without speaking, um, standing for self love the project that you were just referring. Teoh happens two blocks from where I am right now. I'm right next to Union Square. I watched a Union Square with a sign that read, I'm standing for anyone that's ever struggled with selfish thing issue like me. If you support self acceptance, draw hard on my body. I put a blindfold over my eyes and undressed and had to markets in my hands and immediately. Immediately people started coming, drawing on me from all over the world, telling me just how much it means to meet sharing their own stories of bulimia or, you know, other diseases or situations that they have on just being so thankful for this experience and it was just I started a conversation that's really difficult to direct, and it gave them a safe place to interact with me because my I was blindfolded, you know, I was a neutral party, and they get to just experience like their own feelings of how they felt about their body and something happened. You were You were confronted when you were out there, correct? Yes, I was in a very vulnerable position, obviously, as you would be on a all morning in New York City standing in your underwear and this gentleman walks up to me and obviously I couldn't see him. But he's just like, Hey, lady, move your, like, blocking the way because obviously I didn't know that like, hundreds of people had gathered around me and we were in a market space and so he wanted me to move. And I was like, I'm sorry, I didn't know I'm blindfolded and he's like, I'm sure you could take that off And he was just being really aggressive. And obviously that hurt because when you were standing there literally and nothing, trying to do something for humanity, trying to give love and you're suddenly getting this confrontation. Um, you know, I almost didn't really know how to react. I didn't even know how to defend myself. And this boy comes out of the crowd and he's just like, leave her alone. She's doing something beautiful for everyone. Just let her be here. Let her hold this space. And the man was like, No, she's like blocking the market. And, um, like I'm gonna call the police, I'm gonna call the police. And so finally, you like, walks away and I start crying because this boy came and he, you like, protected me. And it just made me feel that exactly what I was doing. That whole emotion of the humanity. That video has over 600,000 views across all platforms. And so we have a little bit of a manhunt going on. I'm the boy in the red hat because I just wanted to say thank you to him and acknowledge him for coming to my aid and you that there's a video on YouTube. If you want to see. This is why I brought her in for inspirational. As much as she's working with brands and doing this important work helping them to get their message. She's also using Snapchat in the other platforms to inspire people. So the title of the video, if they want to find that on YouTube, is, um I think it's find the boy in the red hat, okay? And it's in the Ginny can breathe. OK, so, uh, I appreciate you sharing that in that Such a such a powerful story. And so you love Snapchat so much that you're now involved in an event that is bringing snap chatters together in London and an award show talk a little bit about that. Oh, my gosh. Um, I had this idea to create an event for Snapchat since basically the first month that I was on Snapchat because I was getting so many beautiful people following me from all over the world that wants to meet me. And I was like, Damn, this would be so cool if we could create an event and bring everyone together. All the other people that are also breeding Snapchat stories and have big followings. And so that kind of manifested this year when I met Frank Fox, who is the founder of Snap happened and we were having a conversation. He's like, Oh, I want to create a meet up in Europe And I was like, That's amazing. And so we started talking about it, and I was like, What about we do like an award show. And so we just started, like, kind of throwing around ideas and like, next thing we know, one week later, we already have a venue that was 100% sponsored. We have, like, $25, sponsorship dollars in, and it just automatically created itself and it's gonna be really beautiful and everyone's bricks. There's a ton of excitement around Snapchat. So we've got a lot of people that here in the studio that are learning Snapchat for first time a lot of people at home. This is the first time they've got hands on, and they've now they're becoming pros because the once confusing interface for them, they now understand how to use all these tools. So what advice can you give to people that are new on Snapchat when it comes to stealth telling stories, I think the number one thing and that's probably why you have me on here for inspirational is just be true to yourself because you tryingto step out of your comfort zone or like step out of who you are to make content that's not authentically. You is gonna feel like a lot of work. It's going, Teoh. It's just gonna be uncomfortable. So whatever it is that you're good at, if you're really funny or if you're obsessed with chocolate or you love to travel or have a dog that you're obsessed with, you know, talk about that and make the story line around that. I just make it something that's so organic that you're doing anyways and build it into an interesting story line that people can relate. Teoh and really show who you are as a person, um, and like keywords story toe. So bring us through to the moment. You know, if you're making a cup of tea of like putting the tea and the cat turning on the boiler and talk about like why you go through this process and a lot of people stories will just be like disjointed snaps, But make sure you just kind of bring it together and talk about why you're doing this and why it's important to you. So that's when people are connect with you. Because when I have an emotional connection with you, that relationship is gonna, you know, like like I said, Like, my Snapchat is like my lover, my friends, these air, We have a relationship that's gonna last a long time. And, you know, you treat your friends well and you take care of them on. Do you kind of create these like he's like, you know, like these mental hooks, I suppose, like, every time that if you were Snapchat is about dogs. Every time your people are going to see a dog, they're gonna snap you a picture of a dog like, Oh, hey, Jenny, I remember you posted a picture of your little pug and look at this little pug that I saw and so automatically you. They're taking you on their day without you even being there. And so for me, that is like, my thing is snapshot and happiness. So any time someone sees, like an inspirational video or something loving or something about Snapchat, then they'll send it to be and automatically. That's the relationship that we have and so like be continuous with that message. Let me let me ask this them because it's really easy when you say, you know, have a message to start getting inside your head, thinking, Oh, this has to be perfect And this has to be just right. How do you tell the story? But yet give yourself the freedom to Hey, this might not go quite the way I want it to totally erased perfection from your vocabulary. And that's why Snapchat really speaks to our generation because we're going away from the photo shop. We're going away from those doctored images, but it's really like Mawr, unfiltered human beings living their lives. And that's what we want to see. You know, it's kind of like, Why do you think like Big Brother And like the bachelorette and all that stuff is still popular is because we want to see into real humans lives. And this is what Snapchat does for us. And so we want to see you in all your imperfections with all your whip sees. Like if I do like a take and I'll be like, you know, like you get tongue tied, you'll say something like, Oh, like, I mean, like, we'll just leave it in the story because it's authentic. It's like That's mean messing up on a Snapchat and it's funny. It's like probably funnier than what I was about to say. Do you think that when you know, if your brand is that gonna endear people more to you? If they see you do that, or they expecting that your brand, you should be more professional? No, I think is totally endearing because we're all human beings, you know? And I think bringing that like I used to work for Apple. So I'm really, like fascinated with the idea of Tim Cloak having his own little Snapchat channel, that being like him having a like morning espresso in the apple canteen in the morning. You know, like I just feel like that would bring people even closer to the brands because it just it takes away that, like, workhouse, that you have in front of you like that, that wall and just brings you from human to human interaction. Awesome. Virginia, I just want to call you Jenny because that's just what they call you. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Say, I need to snap here. I'm going to do this one a little differently because we've never had a selfie, actually, so I am. I am. I'm in front of the monitor right now, okay. And your next to me. So I'm gonna When I start, I want you to turn, Just like you're gonna turn to your left and give me a little kiss on the cheek right here. Okay. Ready? Wait, wait. I'm I'm with Jimmy. Can breathe. Well, kind of. Thanks for joining us here. Creative life, sweetie. Appreciate you. Thank you for having me. Alright, everybody, give it up for Jeannie. Can breathe, Virginia. Thank you. Oh, my gosh. That's an awesome snap. I have to. Let's see, uh, at Jenny can breathe. You know, one of the things I love about teaching this is have to be a practitioner. Have to actually do what I'm saying. And it allows me while I'm teaching to do that thing as ah is an example. So I'm gonna post that and then drawn arrow to her right there. And then as long as we're going to go that far, let's go to the emojis and Oh, that one's not gonna work. Um, let's find ah, heart because she's so sweet. Here it is. There we go. Like that. Ah, All right. So there it is. And she Awesome. Yeah. So follow her. She just so out there in terms of putting herself out there.
