Using Filters in Snaps

Let's go ahead and talk about turning our snaps into stories And, uh, not so much from the physical approach we're going to get more into, ah, storytelling in a little bit. But we want to be thinking in terms of narrative. What is it we're telling people is Is our life just full of random pictures of this? That or the other? Or are we telling a story? Because Snapchat calls them stories for a reason. Right When we go to our page on Snapchat and we swipe left two times and we see it my story I understand that people are expecting a kind of content. What we're gonna do here is I am going to just take a picture. Can anybody guess where I am? Okay, so I shot this video. Now, this is where we're gonna get into, um, the filters that come with Snapchat. Once we've taken a picture or a video, we conduce a number of cool things simply by swiping across the screen. We swipe from left to right. You'll notice that there's some filters that change the look all the way up to that black and white one...

. I like to vary my snaps by applying some these different filters because we want to give people a variety of things to look at, since it's usually just us talking to the camera, right? We don't want people to get bored, and so I try to change up angles and filters. Um, so what? You might see me doing my snaps from time to time. I like to vary my snaps with different angles and filters. There's no rule that says you have to put your whole face onto the camera. The only rules are what the app can do and what your creativity conduce with it. So I'll do that. And then I'll kind of swept through the filters and give it this new are feel. And then I'll just post that. And it's attention getting because it's a it's a state change. They're used to seeing me talk. My whole face is on it. And now I just went, What? What is that? That's kind of fill me directory. Weirdly, what's he getting into? And I have their attention in keeping people's attention while you're telling stories is a big deal. Now those air, your basic filters and everybody just going take a picture of something and swipe just no more than no more till then, till you get to the black and white one and stop there just so you can feel you go left with it until you get to that. When then go back right and you find the right filter. You don't have to post your snap with it. Just kind of get the feel for what that's like. Okay, take another picture now, and I'm gonna go past those filters. And this is where it gets really interesting. After we get here, there's a series of standard filters that appear regardless of your location. The 1st is the speed that you're traveling. How fast are you going? Well, I'm moving at zero MPH. Very important not to snap while you're driving safety first. But if somebody is with you and they wanna apply the filter of something great but safe snapping and all that stuff in your car is important. If we tap that zero MPH, it actually changes two kilometers for our metric friends. So sometimes I'll do this when I'm taking off flying somewhere in the plane, you know, show 300 MPH. It's kind of fun. People will be able to see that in tap again. It goes to tap again, goes back two MPH. Now, if we swipe left again now we have the temperature. There's Fahrenheit. Tap it announcing Celsius. Celsius still doesn't make sense to me. I'm gonna stick with Fahrenheit. So it is apparently 64 degrees outside, according to the National Weather Service, which is where I believe they're pulling this from. So we wanna you know, it's a beautiful day out or it's a freezing day. Whatever you take a snap your outside nature and you want to put the temperature with it, you can do that swipe again. This is Ah, another innovative feature shows you altitude. How high am I now? Where I live in Denver, they're all high, but it's shows there's actually T shirts as they were all high here, but it shows 5200 feet because we are a mile high above sea level. So here in San Francisco, right where we are, we are almost 100 feet above sea level here. So cool feature that you can include in your snaps at the appropriate times. Swipe again. Oh, look, there's the time. You know what? Some of these are having a hard time show up on this background. So I'm just going to snap you guys with that dark background behind you. Here we go. Swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe. There's speed or there's the sea. So you guys were not moving fast. It all 64 degrees out. Uh, the altitude just dropped by eight feet. Somehow, I don't know what happened there, but you get with an earthquake that they move. I don't know. There's the time. And now, okay, So once we're a time and there's no telling of Snapchats gonna add others, they recently added altitude. I'm sure they're going to come up with other creative stuff that they could do once we get to that. Now we come across the geofilters. Geofilters are included in just about every major city of the world and many remote locations and different boroughs in regions within cities. So if we swipe here, we'll see San Francisco has a few standard ones and these air great for embellishing your snaps so you can simply leave it like it is and then you can add, and you could save your your snap just like that. Now here's a little hack you can actually, ADM. Or than one lens or geofilters will Onley one geofilters only one like these. That's location based. But let's say I wanted to put the time along with this. Well, if I go to time, I lose the filter, right? So here's what you do. Hold down on the screen and then swipe. Probably just hold down. That could actually do three. I was also able to add the black and white lends to it where I can get rid of them all. So let's go ahead and put Ah, like that one and let's put the time on it and let's save that. See, this is what I mean when I talk about the rules, the only rules are the tools that Snapchat gives you. But the creativity and the boundaries that you get to them play with based on those tools is really up to your imagination. And the more you start watching other people's stories and following people who are really doing a lot of Snapchat doing it right, you will be inspired you go. That's a cool idea. In fact, I'll come up like I did. I told you about my 10 fast snaps idea actually had a theme song written to go with it. So I started out with the theme song and then I do my 10 fast naps and people write me and like, Can I do that? Yeah, do it. You know, copying is the sincerest form of flattery, right? And I tell them, use hashtag 10 fast naps and if they want to give me a shout out, do it. But if they don't, that's that's fine as well.
