So, what do we actually need to start working with video? Well, the very first thing that we're gonna need is a computer. And really this has to be a computer that's relatively powerful. I would recommend something like a gaming PC or a relatively recent Mac. Just something that's a little bit more powerful than just something that you might find at your grandma's house. Needs to have a little bit of power under the hood, if you know what I mean. You wanna make sure that you have a pretty good graphics card, lots of memory, lots of space on your hard drive. Video editing takes up a lot of space. So if you have like terabyte, that would be really good. Also, now don't overlook this. Because this is easy to kind of ignore, but I really recommend you get a three button mouse, okay. The reason for that is because you're gonna want to regular click, right click, but especially this scroll wheel and especially clicking down on the middle of the scroll wheel. We use this all the time in Resol...

ve. Believe me, if you don't have a three button mouse, pause here and go to the store and get one for 12 bucks, okay. It is worth it. I know how you're gonna ignore me, and just not do that. I'll wait. (speaker laughs) We're gonna be using an app called DaVinci Resolve, which is an industry standard, very professional video app and it has a really good free version that can do absolutely anything that you want to do. So if you have all of that and you have your learning cap on I'm not sure what a learning cap is but I'm pretty sure people have those. If you have all of that, this is gonna be great.

This is a great class! Probably my favorite Creativelive class so far. I've been a fulltime photographer for 13 years now, I guess it's about time I get back into video. I love that Resolve has a free version to learn on. The pace of this class was perfect, can't wait to watch the rest of Casey's DaVinci classes.

Thanks to Casey Faris for the interesting study material. I have been looking for a creative life course for DaVinci Resolve for a long time and I am very happy that one has already been created on your platform. I look forward to the other pieces. Thanks again for the shared knowledge!

I've seen many DaVinci tutorials that seem to just make things more confusing but Casey's tutorial really took a simple step-by-step explanation to really show how powerful and yet simple it is to use Davinci. The tools Casey covered in this course gave me the confidence to edit the ton of videos I have collecting dust on my hard drive. Great job Casey and a great sense of dry corny humor...lolol highly recommended!!
