How to Get More Viewers with Facebook LIVE

and we're not done with Facebook yet. In fact, we're going to be going live again. You could tell from the the table right here that we've had all kinds of gadgets and gizmos that are waiting. So we're gonna do some really fun stuff and demonstrates and possibilities. One of the questions that I get frequently is how do I get more viewers on Facebook live? And some of the things that we're going to talk about really apply across the whole marketing spectrum that you can apply to your other broadcast as well. The two of the primary thing that we have to remember is that formula that we talked about content plus engagement equals relationship. It's about building that relationship with your viewer with your audience so that they don't just become a viewer, but they become a fan, a friend, a customer. That's the goal. Ultimately, so on Facebook are likes our comments, and our shares are the foundation for building that social. The low hanging fruit is the like very easy toe, like a post o...

r a comment. In fact, if I don't make a comment or do a share and somebody mentions me, I usually make it a point toe like it. It's my way of saying I see that comment Thank you. I recognize that you put in the time to make that comment. I don't have the time to reply. It's at least an acknowledgement. So Facebook has these varying levels of commitment like is the short the least level of commitment that we have the comment and then if we really, really like it, we like it enough to share it with somebody else. And sharing is caring right? It means that we want our friends to know what you're saying. That your video so affected me that I want to tell the rest of the world That's the deepest level of social sharing. And so what we do when you saw me demonstrate on both my Facebook life and my periscope is I encouraged people to share it. Share with UNP era scope, share with your Twitter followers, share with your periscope followers on Facebook, please click the share button underneath and tell people on your page on your personal profile in your group that were alive. If you don't ask, you often don't get, and sometimes just by asking people are happy to oblige. Oh, yeah, my friend is live or I love what this person does in their business. I'm happy to share this, so encourage them to click the share link because when they do, your live video now shows on their profile on their page. And this is how things go viral and you find new friends and fans. So somebody who knows you shares your video and somebody that doesn't know you sees it on their page. They come over to your page and now they like you. This is how we do it. You know, those of us who are old enough to remember the shampoo commercial when if you like your shampoo so much, you'll tell two friends and she'll tell two friends and she'll tell two friends and so on and so on and so on. Viral marketing at its purest form. So what this does is it increases your live video viewer count and it increases your replay count. There's a few people I know that are more in tune with Facebook, then my friend Mari Smith. She is known as the Queen of Facebook. She has over 100,000 followers. Maybe she she might go. Joel. 200,000. I don't know. It's a lot. A lot of people follow her. She speaks all over the world, training on using Facebook for small business. And we are really fortunate to have Murray with us here today. And so let's welcome via Skype. My friend Mari Smith. Murray. Hi. Hi. Hello. Greetings, everybody. You are just You're fresh out of content marketing world, aren't you? I sure. I was over there in Cleveland, Ohio, and had a wonderful time and a great great audience. Yes, I feel like I missed out. I mean, I'm here having a great time, and I saw pictures on Facebook of you and Michael Steles there and so many others. And I like, Can I be there in spirit or something? Yes. Yes. Well, sure. You can watch the hashtag and things like that, right? Yeah. So many places we can be, but right. Well, I'm glad you're here. Thanks for taking the time to come in. And we just did a Facebook live before lunch, and now we're back talking about growing your following with Facebook live. And so we've got a lot of people watching on creative life, both in the studio audience and at home that are brand new to live streaming. And this thing, it's were trying to take away the intimidation factor because once they understand it, they see they can do it. But I'd like to know your own personal tips and strategies for somebody new to get started with Facebook Live just to get started. Yeah, somebody just brand new like, how would you encourage them? Well, interesting enough, Joe. One of the things that I've been seeing through all of my talks for, you know, last year since stays alive first came out and ah, your beta testers. And what? Not gonna pop this up for a second while I hear myself about your, um the the importance of having a strategy, having a specific plan in mind and not just going live for the sake of it or going live because you feel peer pressure, social pressure didn't get through. I mean, you and I move in circles Joel of incredible number of early adopters and is wonderful being an early adopter. And that's kind of we blazed trails and we create new paradigms. And what not, but at the same time, for the small business owner and just getting started. I really do recommend you think, even if you think What is my one intention of doing this live A. My wanting to raise brand awareness on my wanting to get more traffic in my, you know, to my website or two enrollments for an event, or to launch a new product or just too great to create more intimacy with my followers, you know, and use that to create that community and get to know people and create that, you know, human connection video, especially live video. It's really the next best thing Teoh to in person. You you guys are in the studio, live there, but you The next best thing is live. And even though people have ah lot of fear about going on to camera and whatnot, there's some incredible technologies. As you know, Joel, that you can you can show off. You can show, you know, recorded video. You could do you share your screen. You could bring in gas things like that. But I think that boiler hold on, make it simple joys just Teoh make it this like one thing if you said, you know, if I go live on camera, what is the one thing that I want my followers to do? You know? And it could be just to say no, just say hi and get introduced to them and for me to get to know them. I don't have some tips that because I know you're talking about specifically how Teoh get more viewers, right? Is that the segment? I just snapped you, by the way, and you're right about this being the closest toe face to face without the physical contact. And I love them. By the way, I want to hear those tips and before you do, can can you? Everybody sees so much you can learn about Mori and about any individual from their natural habitat. This is a natural set. This is not staged. She's in her office. It's very authentic, and we can tell from where she is that a. She's very busy because she's got a calendar with a lot of things marked off B. She's got a lot of ideas because her white board is right there in her office. There's a lot going on. See, she's got pretty things or flowers air in there that that just compliment her own beauty and d. She's professional because look at the microphone that she's using. We talked earlier about the gear and she's got Ohio PR 40 there, so I just wanted to point that out because your natural environment says so much about who you are and you're so truly authentic. So go ahead and hit us with some of those tapes that you bet. And I was just saying to Christopher, my dear partner, who gave me the roses, by the way, two dozen red roses waiting from when I came back from content marketing world. Oh, and I was just joking with him. Nobody. You know that saying nobody knows you're a dog on the Internet? We'll now have changed it to nobody knows what you're wearing on your bottom half on the Internet. So have shorts on on just saying goodbye shorts and you're good. I got I got I'm gonna run throughs and only about real short window for you, but specifically how to get more viewers on these to live. I want to give some tips for your audience and pre and during imposed, and I'm sure you've covered some of these are probably some overlap. I would say pre that. You post an announcement. I mean, life is fun to go impromptu, and I do a lot of mine impromptu. But you might think about having a regular show, maybe once a week, like our good friend Scott Monty, That does on Sundays. Or maybe you're doing a big van and you're just going to do an announcement. You could even create an event, a Facebook, a van. And now, of course, you can broadcast live into the event pre. You want to mobilize people in your community. I don't see enough people doing that. So if you have groups, go ahead and invite your group to join. I have a whole team and then my inner circles. When I'm going live, there's little buzz like a look behind the scenes buzz. Oh, Martin, live right now. Okay with sharing it, they're jumping on and engaging. Um, you could also know brand new you can. We've been talking Joel offline. About two person. You might have heard the news that blue jeans have just announced multi person Ah, Facebook live and guy Kawasaki debuted it literally an hour ago. Hey, says it's he says. It's Google. Hang. I was done right? Unbelievable. So I actually put on there. You could invite aghast or a guest influencer on someone with obviously following have them share. That's gonna help boost your viewers. Now that during I do recommend broadcasting on your page, you can practice. You could actually practice on your profile to friends only, or sometimes when I'm doing through wire cast, I will practice and dio through my profile toe only meat. But otherwise, for really the optimal experience I really recommend you always do live on your page because that gives you access to the ads. Um, during you wanna have some structure and not just going to get on there and go on and on and on unless that's your style and your fans are okay with that. But otherwise, when I said earlier about having that one key, take away that one called the action. Even if you're only broadcasting for a few minutes and during acknowledged people take questions, see their first name people love to hear their first name is the sweetest sounding word in their entire vocabulary. I don't if you all know that and like you just said there, Joel a minute ago asked people to share. You could even do a contest, although it's not quite go share with the basic rules to ask people to share reason being. If you didn't contest, you can ask him to share, but not for Toe Andrew contest because of the privacy parameters around personal profiles, right? If someone has it locked down to friends, only then they can't really enter the contest now. Then, after you finish broadcasting, I do recommend you add captions. You can get them transcribed at rev dot com, or sometimes I'll upload to YouTube. It's kind of mishmash. The results you get there, right? But I recommend going in, edit them, get the SRT file and then pop that back up onto back up onto the basic life Now, then, afterwards, you want to put a little button behind it, boost that pose, get more reach. A lot of people will watch your post after the fact after your after your life and then something else I don't see. Too many folks doing is driving traffic from other sources. The Earl the time stamp is the Perma link of every single post on Facebook. As you take that, you, Earl, that goes directly to your video. Shorten outbid Lee. Put it onto Twitter. Send out in your email list get people coming after the fact as well as obviously pre injuring. And my 10th tip is embedded. That was tender as embed in a blawg post. Do a summary create a block post and embed that and you're going to get some more viewers. I knew I could count on you, Mari, to bring us value. It's a lot like rapid fire. They're all taken notes in here. Thank you so much for joining us. I'm gonna do the one of the funnest selfies I've ever done. Murray, I'm stepping in front of the monitor here with you and OK, smile. She always smiles. Got it. Thank you so much. Marty will talk to you soon. My pleasure. Have a great day by give it up
