Use 360 degree Video for LIVE stream

We're gonna talk about doing live video that are action oriented videos and 360 degree videos for Livestream. There's a lot of really awesome benefits to doing stuff that's that is action oriented. In 3 60 you've seen the people wearing the GoPro's and they're skiing, and it puts you first person as though you're the one attacking the slopes and doing the loop. Pollute loops, loops, you know, and they're on their surfboards and their mountain climbing, and it makes you feel like you are there. And so cameras like the GoPro are made for action. Well, now, the next level of that immersive nous is in the 360 degree realm. It is fully immersive, and because it's 3 60 it gives the viewer control and the ability to look where they want to in the video, simply by clicking on the screen and rotating their mouse around. Now I've brought with me today the alley cam. This is a fight for 99 device. You'll see. It has two cameras on it. These two cameras pick up everything from ceiling to floor in ...

full 3 60 without missing a single inch of the room. Everything. That is not this camera is visible from this camera, and I'm gonna put it right up here, and we're actually going to give this thing a try. And Ah, let's see, here I am just gonna launch the Actually, I'm gonna use the desktop for the APP because it is known to be more stable. So you're gonna be seeing a lot more 3 60 video. And I want you to imagine the possibilities, especially when it comes to linger. There is that already picking up on that perfect wants you to imagine how businesses and brands will start being able to engage with their audiences in entirely new ways. See, for example, the creative live audiences you're watching from home and you're a fan of creative live. What you're used to seeing is this part of creative life. But assuming we can get things to work as they're supposed to and that may or may not happen, is we've only done one test with that. With this software, um, you be able to see the whole room, the audience, the cameras, the sets behind the set. Okay, it's found my camera. That's a good sign. And Now we're going to try to get it to ah, to connect here. All right, so it's gonna be difficult. I won't be able to give a It is plugged in. That is good. So what I'm gonna dio rather than get stuck on it is go to a bookmark here of a recorded video. So I took the camera and I brought it out front my house. And if we can go ahead and get some volume on that, we'll just play. This is an alternative to going live with it for my house cameras, YouTube live. It was broadcast from this camera Where, um I Well, let's take the mouse, click over here and scroll to power their I am. You should be able to look into the front of the house And where there's no house next to me and across the street down the street, this is the alley cam. Um, it is a full We go all the way down. Has about, um, lenses on it. One inside that captures the entire peripheral. You should be able to swipe up and see that the top. So the question is, how is it connected to my phone. It's not at the moment. There's an application, though, that comes with it. That just like we did with the MEVO. We connect it to the phone. I'm using their desktop software. I use it for the first time yesterday. It worked. Didn't know. It's okay. We're gonna let it go because you see how it's supposed to work. Let's go to where I move around a little bit. Well, Ford here just Ah, a minute, by the way, See how there's no house there next to me? I'm gonna tell you a quick story here. While that's loading, it's about, I don't know last fall and I woke up early and heard a sound that sounded like the trash man coming Be be be bigger Trash does off. Wake up! I still hear it like Okay, they picked up the trash a long time ago. Ah, walk outfront go outside their bulldozing and tearing down the house next to me. What do I dio? Grab my phone? Launch periscope Say tearing down house next to me. Put that up. Who? One of my most popular periscopes ever. Hundreds of people watching at the same time this house being torn down with the giant claw ripping it down, wall by wall. Amazing! I took the moment that was experiential in shared it when I discovered it was not the trash man. And the lesson there is Pay attention to what's going on around champion Over here now, Jim outfront there. You follow me over here just by swiping across you can see and same thing that I go over this way. I'll let you imagine what the possibilities are for this. Let's go ahead and go back to the keynote, please. Yes, this one of the cameras that works with Facebook. 3 16 Excellent question. So Facebook Live does not have native 3 60 capability in it. Yet what you can do with Facebook is upload in existing 3 60 video. So I could take this video that I uploaded to YouTube, and I can put it on Facebook. But I cannot yet broadcast live to Facebook. And 3 60 we will soon. How soon? Don't know. But just like everything else Facebook is doing, we're sure that it's coming. It's going to happen now. Speaking of action Cam and 3 60 video, whether recorded or live There is no one that I know who is more up to date both as a technologist and a practitioner that my friend Ryan Stein Elson Ryan has a digital agency of his own, and he is out there in the trenches literally doing stuff like this on Paris. All right, guys, here's my set up. So top screen if you, uh, watches replay. So this is the first. This is the first thing. So this is the attachment that I'm using even see that? That I've got an attachment there that I put together about five years ago. My paddle board on my paddle. So this is gonna be pretty interesting. Um, that's, uh hey, Gannett. So that would be attached. But I just wanted to show you the set up here so that the I've also got a head. Now I love you guys. See, the head mounted head now is gonna be pretty whack. David, watch this, brother. Nothing yet, Dude way. Okay, check it out. My birthday's tomorrow. Thank you. So I'm gonna go out there going. I'm doing college boarding out here in Waco and hate from New Zealand. This is gonna be freaking crazy. fun. Look at that. I know it looks a little wacky. Noodle Connor, What's up? I'm not started yet. So this is the actual This is why I'm putting my phone in. Okay, you can see it Seals right there. Hey, From Brazil? So this is what the attachment is. I got this from my buddy August, and the phone's gonna be right here. View. You look like a piece, boy. But right, dude. Kevin. This way. Okay. Hey, Doug, seriously. Just wait. It just It hasn't started yet. Just hold on. So this is where my phone's gonna be. You guys, we're gonna be seeing it as if you're seeing right through my eyes. OK, OK, I'm going paddle surfing. This is my paddle board, and I'm also gonna attach it here on my paddle, but I'm also gonna attach it here on the nose of my board. So I've been doing this for all. Do this it I've been doing this for years. I got one video that I uploaded to YouTube. I uploaded YouTube about I don't know a long time ago and do me a favor and switch to the laptop for the rest of this video Because now we're set up on your gear. One actually put him out there so we can go ahead and kill that. Now you can see this is what that looks like from all those cameras. How crazy is that? So I want to welcome him to creative life. Please give a warm welcome to my friend Ryan. Spinal son Ryan. Let's bring in here, buddy. Hey, how you doing, man? I'm doing awesome. I I'm really excited. Teoh Year, and I'm excited. Thio was funny. Like listening to that video in the background. I can't quite see the screen and what you're seeing, but it was funny listening to myself after after I did it. And, man, I really want you to see some of the action footage that I got when I was kite surfing. That was phenomenal and caught a little bit about what you were saying before Joel, which was bottom line is yeah, capture the moment, basically allow people to see through your eyes what's going on. And if you can create those environments where you're doing something unique and different, I mean, that's right up. That's that's what I'm all about. And that's where I've gotten those spikes that you were talking about. My engagement, my viewership. This is what I would be speaking about at the at an upcoming event. That's what people want to see that year. 20. I think this towards in this year. And now with the new IPhone. What is it? It's water resistant. So I don't have to look all crazy wack a doodle as least not as as wack a doodle that it before with with this thing, you know, on my my forehead, you know, But basically, you know, But, you know, the that's the opportunity, guys doing things different. And I'm really excited to be here. And I'll let you, uh, I'll let you lead it. Yeah, well, I know I want that. I appreciate that you're here, and you are the model for using this type of gear. You're always on the cutting edge with it. You always showing me the latest stuff and you're like, you need to come and do this. I'm like, No, I think I'll just, you know, stand and teach rather than go the action camp. But for a lot of people, this makes a lot of sense in your right. This content is really engaging. So what are some other types of activities that you're seeing? People use GoPro in 3 60 live video for we'll take it out. Okay, so reduce my background. So this I've got all my my dad in here. Of course, people know me as the gadget guy on live video. So this is it Wouldn't it wouldn't be appropriate if I didn't have at least one gadget to show you guys. So here's Here's the gimbal. It's This is a gimbal that is used with Basically, the IPhone goes in here, and this allows you to create balance. But the phones, in other words, I could literally run with this thing in my hand in the phone right here, and you would team total stabilization. You would see the horizon. It would not jiggle. There's no jittering. So what's happening if your question Joel with very interesting. I just talked with company yesterday. There's a company called Rebel Ari Vpl. It's coming out just all happening so so fast that is creating a camera that is going to really revolutionize what's happening. That's why I'm saying 2017 is the year of live video for action sports because there's it's not just GoPro. It's doing this. There's actually some really cool startups like Rebel that that are combining basically a go pro with a gimbal for the actual GoPro that's in a small compact device that's basically about a bit. It's smaller than my fist that I can put on the side of my helmet and I can get out of the way so that it's not approved. A non obtrusive will say that basically, you know you can almost get a situation happening. I will say this at a time where, when you're doing some of these sports, you've got to be careful because it's almost like distracted driving, right? I mean, you can really get caught up in the live video and the engagement. I'm OK with having a conversation and communicating while I'm on my A bore from 20 knot winds with a two state to nine foot, no seeds or waves, A Zilong Is it out of the way? It's not obtrusive and I don't have and I'm not know, distract by it if it's out of it's OK and so I safety first, I want to say that. But having said that, it's you know, there's kind surfing foil, Chi ting, paddleboarding, anything you know, starting. There's one limit and I've already talked to the guys in the North Shore of Hawaii I want you've already seen from this stuff with Choco where you got the VR goggles and I don't know if you've experiences from GoPro. They've taken a big you know, a GoPro mount. And they took it over Choe Pu in the he and it was full 3 60 You can see it's full, immersive and literally you're getting barrel in this huge amazing barrel wave and I want to create that same experience live. The problem is covered up by the way you lose signal. So So there's a limitation that I know what all the limitations are and we got around them. I mean, we learned very early and so did you know my colleagues like like Mitch, You know that off beat us, unfortunately to go to go underwater this year. But I did it the first ever scuba scope. So So I scuba dived and we did it old school. We didn't have the can do cable that allowed us to basically go go into the water live every single time. I talk to these companies like this like rebel. When I talked yesterday like you can go into the water with that. How do you do that? I'm like, Well, we basically bought a co abdicated people at Mitch's hardware store over on the islands, the Channel Islands. And we made it work the first time. That didn't work. The second time it didn't work, but your buddy and my buddy George Bryant myself civilized cable. But if I didn't have him, we would have made it work. We made it work way got live signal under the water, and I was screaming When I came out, I was like, Oh, my gosh, like it was the coolest thing. I mean, people could see the, you know, all the orange, you know, your garibaldi fish behind me, and I was just amazing. It was just It was an amazing experience to allow people. I think there was 200 people at the peak in the room was on periscope at, you know, the live video at the at the time that we went underwater and everybody said it just like with the live video that I did when I was kite surfing there, like This is amazing, Like this is the best slide video ever seen because they felt like they were there. They were part of something. And so no, that's three opportunity. Pretty soon you're going to see things like that alley camera that sit in front of you. Andi. You're going to see combinations of that star technology with the rebel technology and the gimbals, where it's full immersive, full three d 60 and you're there And the only next see if anybody is watching this that's going out and wanting to create content. First of all, please call me because I want I want toe. I'm putting together advocacy campaigns for for brands that do this sort of stuff. So I want to talk to you, appear. Uh, if you're a person, that's great. Thank you for your inspiration information, and what's the best site for people to locate you toe. Continue the conversation. Yeah, So there's just bryan sanderson dot com. You can find me on its stein old soon, so it's t e I n s. And, um, you know, you could go to my website and all you can you can, you know you can contact me via instagram I'm honored or any Twitter's all the Twitter Facebook really appreciate you. And thanks for spending some time and evangelizing for this this cool tech and cool way to do live video and that we'll catch up soon. How about a round of applause for Ryan? Sign Elson. Thanks, buddy. Talk to you later, boy. He's doing some stuff that let's go ahead and go back to the slides, please. He's doing some stuff that I'm not gonna catch me doing, but for the right person Hey, there's nothing wrong with it at all. Um, got a little bit of time left. Here was the question that you were initially speaking of, You know, this kind of 3 60 these all these different types of cameras, those very often are four people that are doing active things. How do you use a 3 60 cam? Um, to promote a brand that isn't necessarily acted like that? Yeah, that's a great question. So any time you give people behind the scenes and you give them an option to consume the content, how they want. It's empowering. We all like, you know, there's a reason on DVDs. They always have the behind the scenes extras. You know where they're talking to the director, the cast members. Or, you know, whoever is doing makeup in there telling stories. Well, there's something about 3 60 that makes you feel like, Hey, I'm in this whole environment and I'm seeing the magic. I'm seeing the man behind the curtain, right? So in an office, you can certainly put it in an office space and say, Hey, here's a day act creative life and put it in the middle of the room. Now I can see everything that's going on around me and these people coming and going and shuffling about their work. Put it in a factory where something is being manufactured or made, and get the big picture and combine that with what is invariably coming. And we'll talk more about this at the end, which is virtual reality to make very completely immersive environment
