The Origin of UX

we are going to talk about what is really going on in you X In a little segment, we kind of didn't intro like a super brief intro about what do you do? And you, XO, those are very conceptual. So now we're kind of going into the nitty gritty technical stuff. So this is a pretty long chunk of quote that Don Norman wrote in an email in 1998 in response to, um, the origin of UX design. I haven't heard the term user experience because I thought human interphase and usability were too narrow, and at the time you X didn't even exist as a concept or not concept. But as a terminology, I wanted to cover all aspects of the person's experience with the system, including industrial design, um, graphic design interface, the physical interaction and the manual. Since then, the term has spread widely, so much so that it is starting to lose this meeting. And I think that's also why a lot of people are tuning in today because it has losses. Meeting and, um, Don Norman is also some someone you should kno...

w about. So he he worked at, um, he worked at Apple previously in the 19 nineties, And I'm he wrote several books, and I think if you are interested, you should definitely read his books on such as, um, design of everyday things because he really touch up on the basic concept of what you X really is without getting into more of the technical stuff yet. And when you look at how it came to be, you have to think back for a low vis so human factor and ergonomics have always existed in industrial design. So, like it happens and furniture, it happens in cars. But then when it comes to digital, like I said, you are touching a piece of glass right on the right hand side, as opposed to actual switch your flipping back and forth. And so how do you How do you portray the same experience? Or how do you indicate to people that, hey, this is a switch that goes left and right or this is a This is an option that when you tap on it, it goes deeper, so it drills down for you to, um, have some action and that will bring you back up again. So there is a lot of indicators that you need to put into an inter vase in order to tell people what to do next.

It's a solid introduction to someone who has never come across the field, as it introduces some basic terminology used in the industry.
