Review and Final Q&A

I want to talk a little bit about a couple tips that jen wanted jen from green wedding shoes wantedto ad when it comes to um when it comes tio publishing her wedding and she's with a green wedding shoes now she wants to let people know that just because you might get declined from your for your first choice it doesn't mean that you're blawg that that particular blawg will never excuse me that that particular blogged will never share your work they're looking for different things at different times so keep in mind that if the goal is to be featured on a certain block to keep continue trying for that certain block and it doesn't mean that every wedding you submit to them will be chosen but submit the ones that you really think are a good fit and the editor editor will take a notice and express appreciation that you're not sending them so many you're saying that this is what you firmly believe is a good fit in addition to that she says be selective when you're submitting some of the top w...

edding blog's share only exclusive weddings and style judy so I'm guessing we can all surmise from what we've heard is there asking for us tio submit with taste and to provide exclusivity I think that's what we've heard again and again we work hard to share unique features with our readers so we're looking to share weddings that won't be seen on two or three other blocks that week it doesn't mean that they won't share wedding that's been previously featured but let make sure that the submission that you let the editor know that it has been featured else worth and the editor is made well known aware she also says to submit one wedding at a time she mentioned this earlier but editors are busy and they really appreciate photographers when there's selective with their submissions as such please don't send a link to your web site and ask if there are any weddings on there that you that I'd like to feature select the best wedding for your block and submit that one first if it happens to get declined he could always ask for feedback on why it was declined for the next submission that was directly from jen campbell a green wedding shoes we're going to move forward to abby with style me pretty now abby kind of gave a little bit uh um a little bit be fear answers to some specific questions that I had asked her so in regard I asked her in regard to block its emissions what makes you cringe it generates her response at these responses it generate comes down to a wedding style we look for weddings with amazing details that's a given but to support those details we want glowing happy couples a chic bridal party and beautiful backdrop that could mean a great restaurant it could mean a ballroom an art gallery a winery or anything in between the wedding's don't have to be and really shouldn't fit a particular mold but she really reflect the personalities of the couple with that said if you ever find me cringing it's because it's generally over styled overly cliche weddings stuffy bridesmaid's gowns and abundant of shiny satin and his style that is boring and lacking personality cringe central I asked her is there difference now I specifically asked abby the same question that I asked merely because we talked to merriman and we asked what the difference between an online feature and a magazine feature because I want to juxtapose the two and have photographers know exactly what they're getting into so maryland cited tradition she said like and she what if I say it's a lighted did I really say so lighted I meant solicited incited things what do you think it's a light is well I meant solicited she solicited prestige you know a long standing a long standing reputation within the industry as well as this is what girls have grown up to believe go into a bookstore you get your magazine and this is what you hold on to so that is an in tradition and I asked abby is there a difference between a wedding that feature online person magazine if so what is the difference? She abby response I can go on and on for hours about this on magazines have always been the gold standards for publication until recently. Well, there is a strong place for them in the internet. The internet is kind of flipping that idea around on its head, and this is coming from a total magazine addict style me pretty has a larger readership than most major wedding publications. On a monthly circulation basis, we have over one point five million unique monthly visitors and nearly seventeen million page views, so your audience is simply far bigger than print. We also provide direct links to your site, which means that to book a wedding or inquiry, a reader simply clicks a button. We push those same links and credits out to photo galleries of your work that linked to you forever. If a bride five years and now is searching for a similar wedding or an area photographer, they will come across your name on our site, which means that one published post online has long to effect that most print magazines don't offer. Magazines are printed quarterly or monthly, which means that you're going to be one of a few vendors featured in that magazine that's pretty great, but brides have to read the fine print they have tio ear marked the page, and they have to remember to take that to the computer and type your name in that's a lot of steps to ultimately get the business so my general rule of thumb is that it's nice to have both it's great for brides to see magazines you love but it's great for business it's great for business to get your work in lights up on the best blog's with the largest reach that's directly from her how do you respond to those who claim an online? I asked abby, how do you respond to those who claim an online feature isn't as prestigious as a print feature due to the quickly changing home page and multiple features in one day so I'm asking her you are fetching for featuring four block four weddings in one day how do you respond to people saying that's not enough air time, she said that's a great question we do a lot to ensure that it features up for the right amount of time and given proper homage to it how much damage? Whatever there are pros and cons to both and really ultimately you have to make the decisions for what's best for your business. We post three weddings for the most part and one sponsored post today so for pope it's, each post has about twelve to sixteen boards filled with five images so many more of their images get posted an online feature from there we push your personal galleries lives of brides can literally pore over your portfolios without without being in your offices each wedding will stay on the front page for at least twenty four hours and readers scroll down to the bottom there are so comfortable with blogging navigation now and flow we've spent a ton of time you can share your images look as beautiful online as possible and it's something that we tend to constantly studying how to make each features stand out from the breast and grab the reader in a way that princess I can go on and on about this but the bottom line is that print features are great they are gorgeous and a cry vel make sure you make the right publication to be printed and however you do that you could also optimize a return on that feature blog's and web sites are more two more instantaneous and more of them have a far larger readership than prince choose blog's that have a lot of readers but also the right kind of readers. My bet is that you'll be pleasantly surprised if you decide to choose a block and might find more than a few dollars in your pocket last question I said what is the protocol for submitting the same wedding? Two different wedding boggs how long? How long should a photographer wait before submitting the wedding elsewhere? She says please please please don't do it we absolutely won't publish a wedding that has been on another block and we'll pull the wedding if we discover after the fact that he has been on another block, blog's work very much like magazines, and that we want complete and total exclusivity. Still, me pretty has a huge readership that overlaps a little bit with other blog's. Thus, we try really hard to give our readers something fresh, new and unique. It's. A big no no big capital letters, no, no, to submit one wedding to more than one block at a time. We need four weeks, generally speaking, to determine if we want to publish the wedding. With. That said, you are always more than welcome to check on in our wedding and on a wedding, and let us know that you'd like to release it to another block if we don't want it. That's, usually the on ly push that we need to give a firm answer.
