2:30: LIVE Shoot: Family in the Park

Okay, my looking at on. So So we have chosen this lovely park and the idea during the yellow so they can heal your pain. Okay, um, I think the idea was that a lot of times photographers don't have a studio. I have to find a place locally to work with. So we wanted to pick a place locally and show just sort of when we're here, What we're doing and what we're looking for. This is the first for me. I'm shooting tethered, so I feel like I don't have quite the mobility that I would normally have. So I'm going to try to work with that as well. But the first thing that I did when I came here is because it's already a little later in the day and I really love backlighting. I'm looking for places where I could light my family that way so that I try to get those images out of the way first, so that if the sun starts to get lower and it's coming too much into my frame that we could move to some open shade and then I and I have a little variety in that. So just just from our restrictions here. I'v...

e chosen this space because the sun is facing me. You can see I want to have my family turned with their backs to the sun. So I usually will tell them to stand over their shadow. And what I wanted to do today was start with the little ones first so that I have the parents kind of with me helping me talk to them. And I want to get some pictures of the three kids together first and foremost if I can, cause a lot of times that tends to be the most difficult thing to get a great sibling shot. So I want to try to get that out of the way for So if I could have all three kids over here and normally So what? A park like this. We have a lot of can. You guys will hear me. Okay, so we're surrounded by cars all the way around, So my goal would be to try to shoot in a way that we don't have the cars with the tethering. It might be a little more difficult, so I apologize for cars, but I But I have seen some brush here and and the Senate is this direction. So what I'm gonna do is trying to place the kids over here. Joy, will you hold this for me? Just so I don't I Come on, guys. Can you stand here with me? Is that OK for me to walk with? Um So what? I want you to dio we're gonna Is this press way? No. Okay, let's all plop down together. Lizzie, will you come over here with me with put Lily when it plunked down? That's awesome. We have sirens going. That's cool. OK, Mattox, Right where you come here next to Lizzie. But what I want you to do is turn this direction a little. Put your little needs over here. That's right. And you come sit right behind. May be put put. One leg over here. This is your perfect? Yeah, like, kind of squeeze in way lost Lizzie a little bit. What I want to do is try to get, like, a little pile going. So I kind of want Lizzy to lean in this way. I love your little boots. So good move you like that? You guys are awesome. So here's the thing guys. You're kind of lean in a little bit toe. Lizzie, you're doing good. I'm gonna go grab my camera, see what I think we like that little pile up. Uh, so what I like about backlighting is how See how their hair's all lit up. Maddox, your look Awesome. Lean a little bit back, and I want to Just like yesterday when we talked about I wanted to shoot, Yes, nothing a puppet ho. My first shot. I do an aperture priority. And then I look at it. I don't know how fast the, um feet is, but I think their faces a little dark And just judging by the history Ram. But this camera has said 4.0 to 50th of a second. So I'm gonna move my But I say to 50th 1 25th Gonna go down one stuff. 200 of a second, I think. Do one more tax child. Now, if I feel like I'm getting really great faces there, I don't I'm not gonna worry losing man. Yeah, I see that. Maggie did me a favor. Lean spreading. There you go like that. It's perfect. I like that. All right. If she moved a little, so I'm gonna change my up slightly. Driver backed up a little bit so I can zoom out as far as I can't find with you. Are you like that puppet? Yeah. Lizzie, that's awesome. They look so cute. So I like the way that they're all piles up there. I'm gonna grab their parents, and they seem to be behaving well. That was me. You guys are so good. Make my job easy thing. We're gonna add your parents here, but I just continue our pile. So, Hillary, can you just sit here behind Matics who will see? Hi, Scott. How are you doing? Yeah, in fact, I mean, what you could do is put back to back with Hillary. If we can put an arm around her, let's see what that looks like. What kind of squeeze into that little space there? Yeah, I like that kind of bleeding. You can put your arm around that way, so you kind of your face and then the love That is really sweet. That's cute. Listen, I like this little pile up. Mm. So what? I want to have happen. I don't want quite so much separation. between Lizzie and Sky. Maggie, we did make it. Will you turn around? Place this way a little bit. I lied. And And Lizzie, can you sit here like maybe leaning a little bit? Put this me down? Maybe you can come upon your dad like that. Possible. We don't want her to block your face. So from this way, a little bit and then lose them. Just you back in a little bit of a speech. There you go. That often? I like how you're leaning it on that. Why don't you trust your knees? You could cross your ankles. Perfect for your little down. Yeah, I like that a lot. I mean, I want to hear what? Mathematics. Right. Scoot back a little tiny bit and then just lean forward like this. It's crazy. We're going to hear what you're saying. Sorry. I'm sorry. You're gonna watch the show. I guess I like this. Looks like a little circle. All right. I'm gonna shoot f five, I think, or even 56 I don't want to lose any focus of anybody. So what I when I move my f supp two stops on down to 100 I'm gonna go up. You'll see what I mean. When I won that coming, check one image there. Still think it's too dark, But my I seven a little bit I know, making their perfect. I like that exposure. Look, it is hard to explain what you're doing while you're shooting. All right? So now part of the two is I want to avoid all these cars is a little tough since I'm tethered here, but I want to try to shoot with as much of the pretty flowers behind a few of the cars. It's possible. Enjoy. See if you can use that reflector a little tiny bit. And I let me let me try. Try the shutter hugger guy. Should a hugger stick him on here, which is not meant for the size. I don't think school Are we doing gold or white? White? And you have to be over here on this side. I'm just gonna try and put a little bit of light. Can you tell the difference if I go like this or if I'm shining light, lighten you up a little bit. So, joy, you're gonna want to be here a little If it's too painful for them. I don't want to do it. No, it's OK. We don't have Teoh right there. Okay. For Liz. Very pretty there. It iss now. I would try to normally put them in grass that has a little shade and just have the sun hitting them. But leaving safe Terrell's going to try to cut off. Much of the grass is possible. I family. You look so cute. I want so, Scott, will you do if ever sit up a little straighter, Scott. And then put your arm around Hillary and around Maggie and give your family of this a little squeeze not to talk with a little. There you go. So, joy, I can see you reflector a little bit. There we go. That's perfect. Little family love for me. You look at that smile. That's awesome. And then I like to do a couple things some tight and then some vertical as well. So we have some variety later. Joyce Gouda back a tiny bed. Ready? Nice. People are looking at you guys. Usually famous during the class. Wait, Hang on. That's okay. I got to change this. There we go. Okay. All right. Got scott do that Squeeze for me again. I really like that. I'm waiting for a little little face there. Thank you. To Steve. Hillary, do me a favor and just wipe a little hair. There you go. That's the hard part when you're shooting family. Want to make sure that mom looks good Because she's gonna be a big decision maker. If she doesn't like how she looks in the picture, she would mean a lot of Photoshopped head slapping for you later. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Speaking of Photoshopped head swapping, I do try to shoot multi frames from the same position as often as I can if I really like a set up so that if you have to swap heads later, it's not that tough to do it. What was that? You just did, Scott, That was really sweet when you do again. Yeah, I like that. That's really kid. That's really sweet. All right, so I'm gonna come in a little bit tighter, like hell is is Lizzie. You look perfect. And Scott? Yeah. See how your arm around Maddox is one All arms in Scott. Will you do the same to put your arm around Maggie on this side. Yeah. And then pull as he ever has, slightly closer into you in the center. There. Now she's Yeah, I do. You don't have to look that way. I guess. What? I like you hugging them and squeeze it on in. But your hair is covering up your son a little bit. Scott, look at your family. They're really, really pretty. That's really great. I'm gonna do one of all the faces. I like this. Can I come over here looking so you can pop a lot of light in here? Because I'm gonna be really tight. Kind of. Can you see me? Am I in your way? No, you're good. But come around this way. Way we're losing Maggie's face like this. Yeah. So for this, I just wanted my alright. My bedroom, Right. Is it alright? What? Almost get a room with him. Yeah, um, Maggie there, scooped up a little tiny bit and in your face, Slightly forward. Yes. Joy, get one without living. That's you just have to help you look in the back camera. Where is that little dinosaur? We could do that. Yeah, right. Yeah. Yeah, I got a little bit. Scott Scott, get aggressive. Get in there. Que? Here. Have Lizzie come help you busy? Can you come help us for one second? Okay. And then why don't we have you fill in there? No matter, and then we'll get Yeah, this is just because, um, Liz is actually her niece. So we're gonna do one of just the immediate family. Just some people watching. Understand what we're doing here. All right, let's do Hillary. Will you lean on Scott a little bit? Yeah. It's got your foot, your shoulder behind her so she can have a little space to lean in. That's cute. Yeah. No, no, that's good. Joy. Can you come around this way so you could feel Scott in a little bit more? Yeah, I like that. That's really sweet. That's what Hillary. Your hair looks like It was done by you doubt festooned. I love it when you win. Maddox's looks. He looks like he's over it already. Are you over it already? I love that. That's really sweet. And I like this vertical shot to just grass behind. I think that looks really nice. Yeah, that's cute. Already a couple more. I really like this shot in particular. And if we do have to do any head swaps, I want to have a lot of options. And then we will move waking her head over a little bit. There we go. All right. Where did you? A couple more here and then we're gonna move on. Pretty guys, that's what. I wouldn't move. Maggie's dressed a little bit. A little revealing. Oh, is that what it It's OK. I think we're all right. We could we could move from this lot. It's okay. Yeah. Yeah, I think. Okay. Um, you just want to pop up crazy, huh? No, I could never quite get it folded. Back up. It's OK. I'll help you need to fall the back up yet. All this carrying. So can I get just the two older ones? Just for a second? And just use while we're still in the back lighting mode and I still have my settings on the camera. I'm gonna move over to this little bench over here. If I provided, I can actually do it. Where's my I probably I think now, though, I feel like I've gotten some family stuff in the can. I want to concentrate on kids before they melt down or anything. So I'll probably start. And like we said, Lizzie is I think we should just treat like a whole. Now that we've got a few of them. This time I will bring Lizzie back. Where is she? Oh, she's over there. Just help all three Children, then come with us. Can I Can I go? Actually, I'm just gonna go right here like this and shoot through this. I'm a big fan of shooting through things. Anyway, I'm gonna put the camera down so I don't have to lug it over there and then I'll bring the kids bag. Yeah, you don't, would you? I didn't see my camera bag Way have 23 Come with me, guys. So a lot of this is just me. I feel like I can't talk to my group. Well, I'm just gonna keep talking because you can hear me, right? What happened? Our Amazon talk. I don't know. Um we're going to shoot around the pole. We're gonna figure out the poll. I think what I want to do over here, guys, we're gonna experiment. I just want you guys this way. Like looking over the bench at me like this. Whoa! We put lives in the center of the city. No, we're not gonna sit right. Let Lizzy stand state where you can you stand for me? Can you stand up, Lizzie, your ballerina battler? You're gonna be a ballerina and standards of your bomb when you do that. Okay on them. And this is gonna be your ballerina bar right here. I'm just shooting with my 72 200 because I know we were talking earlier. People want that those portrait things. So the first thing I try to do is get, like, the beautiful backlit portrait kind of, you know, long lens stuff done because I know they want that. And then later, when people kind of getting tired or never and I can dio put on, like, maybe a wide lens and do things that are more fun than we're more relaxed or maybe a lot of times when you do that you're in the grass like we get grass stains and things. I don't want to risk that for the beginning. Sometimes you have to flip it. Sometimes the kids are so squirrely, these air really well behaved kids So we're making it pretty easy for us. My helicopters almost here. So I'm gonna can We could have been with a quick question from the audience for you. And that is a question from Mrs Dash and apologies if you've already been saying this, but when you're shooting with the backlighting, what metering mode are you using? So So we talked about this during one of one class that I forgot. Some of them didn't see that. I actually always just have Don't even to be honest, I even know what metering mode my cameras ever on. It looks like it's on partial metering right now. I'm just worried that we're gonna lose them like we need. I'll say it. Well, I do it. Okay. Perfect. Any any settings doing example right now? So what I would do. Although my settings already said, we'll pretend it will start over. Right. So I want to shoot because their eyes were pretty much all lined up. I want to shoot at 3.2. That's what I've decided. And I'm gonna put my camera. I'm choosing 3 20 eso and I have set my camera. Teoh 3.2. I'm gonna do one shot an aperture priority. And then I'm looking at the back in the info mode and looking at the history Graham. So that's usually what I'll do as opposed to just the meeting boat is not that important for me. So looking at the history ram and seeing the blinking where we talked about the blinking of the highlight enabled whatever pixel blown out I see in my opinion, their faces or too dark and history have shoved a little over to the left. So the camera when it was in aperture priority selected at 800 shutter speed. So I'm gonna put Emmanuel for my camera to 3.2, which is what I wanted, and I'm not gonna choose 800. I'm gonna go 6 40 one stop brighter, right? So I'm gonna try that one checking my instagram on. I like that. So now that's what I'm going to shoot at. I'm shooting. It s 26 48th of a second at 3.2, right. And I like them all fooling around like that. Normally I would do that much faster. I don't want to lose them, but I like what they're all doing playing. And I'm just gonna shoot this. You guys are awesome. I want to back up a little and try toe, actually, can you give me the 70? 20? 40 70? I want to try to include a little bit of this greenery in the foreground. So I have a possible a long, tall, irritable picture with some greenery. Maybe we could put their names over it later. We could add texture. Like I'm trying to think what we could do with some things. This way. Hey, guys, We did me a favor and just leaning on each cheek. Give Lizzie a little smooch. Not attacking, not attacking. Okay, that's good. Good smoking guys get smooching. Thank you in a second. All right, I'm gonna switch lenses and go a little tighter. Partially because I'm sort of tethered here. I had to wait for this to stop flashing, though. So Lizzie really likes ballerinas and Angelina ballerina. So I've been telling her she's a ballerina. Angelina ballerina. I like that. Yeah, that got her to stand at the bar Ballerina bar. Okay, So what I'm noticing, too, is the sun is coming a little bit from that direction. So Maddox got some really hard son on the side of his face. I'm gonna go up there and try and have them turn a little bit more. I don't want to turn on the camera office, which leads until it stops reporting. OK, there we go. Sorry. Well, I'm switching lenses. Well, I had wanted I wanted to go a little closer to them and be able to engage with them a little bit more. It's hard. It's hard from back here to talk to them. Its weight. And I feel like I got some portrait stuff. Can I? How close can I get now? I put on the 24 to 70 so I can have a little variety of going wide Teoh, Portrait e and still do similar what I was doing. But closer. I heard that you are Angelina ballerina. Is that true? Yeah, I heard a rumor that that that's really cool. And I'm saying I don't like the splints. Oh, here we go. Here we go. We're coming closer. I'm your hair is awesome. I like that. I love the swoop, buddy. I'm gonna do some pictures of you for a second because I like you here with this would. So, girls, do me a favor. Come, come over here and stand in the shade for second. I don't want you to burn up too much. And I want you to turn like this a little bit, like, Oh, right. Doesn't your body a little so that you're facing this way A little. Get ready face this way. Like this to me. But I like how you're leaning over. It Looks pretty cool. I like that. All right, well, well, here we go. That's cool. I like that. I think you should be really need a black and white to I like all the lines. I know my son. I'm sorry. And then I'm looking at this image, and it's all blown out all around him. I'm kind of also stuck here. I probably would move my body a little this way. Camera were You can't. Okay, would you just see if we can? Okay. All right. Back to you again. Are you getting hot over here? Okay. Do we favour? Let's put your seat over the edge like that. I kind of kicked him through that way. Yeah, like, scoot up a little bit. Yeah. Cool. And then your lean against this. I basically want to try and make us of that. We have the sun right behind you. Like that's gonna set in place until this. We're waiting for my camera. Show up. Oh, sorry. I think I want the 100. This is not gonna work this left or is that if the 7200 is back, I'll just take that one back. Okay? Thanks. I'm gonna shoot with this. Well, I got it. We already have a setting. I like this, Like for a boy. I don't want to concentrate too much on flowers. I like the wood here and now. Like how you're leaning. I think you look cool. And I want to try to get in tight and do something like this. Just of him. When did you lose that tooth? In march. That's awesome. People want to pop a little light. That's cool. Yeah, I like that. Not true. Is that too hard? That hurt your eyes at all? Well, that's that's good. One tear that gets probably to stuff that works with. Yeah, Cool. I like that. What did you get for that tooth? What do you want? To switch normal, right? All right. Is that how it works? And when you lose all of your teeth, look at me. Let me see her too. That's so cool. So I'm focusing now, just on his eyes. I want to do like a portrait of you. You and your lost tooth. I love it. I love it. That was awesome. Thank you. Come with me. Come to the shade. So I feel like I try really hard to try to get, like, in the can things that I want to get first and then I can play later. So I feel like I got some cute ones of Maddox. And now Yes, yes. Sorry. Speaking to your back, Um Oh, here's the little it. So let's go find some open shade, and we'll just come out here since we're already over here in question. Yes. And this is from Natalie Syverson. And do you ever use scrims? Scrims? I don't never use scream. Okay. There, you know. All right, let's get the two girls together. Simply like sisters. Maddox, you're off the hook for a second in early, and then I'm gonna add Hillary in two. Yes, thank you. Sorry. All these wires and there are, like, secret wires. So let's just shoot here. It's so cute. It's like a little Kobe. I kind of like it. In fact, I was coming right here. We see that little, um it looks like a little frame. Let's use this little frame. It's kind of cute. And we'll do the girls here. My camera left Maggie years with No, um, we're gonna I think we're waiting for a hat to come on. I think I might put my 7 to 200 back on. I'm finding it hard to with the tethering to have two short of London. So you guys, can I do that? Really? Why not do a variety of lenses today? I just stick with the sometimes says you're shoot and never change the lens at all. Sometimes we just stick with the 7200 and that's that's working fine. I'd like to have a lot of lenses with me and just in case we end up doing fun like family dog pile stuff, our bodies on the ground and we want to do things that are wide. I like to have the option to do it, but, um, just with a lot of the parameters today, I don't know that we will do that, but we'll try. I'm not gonna do it for this, but I know what I was thinking. I just met that right up. Just put a lot of sweet there, so I want try and get it. Where did you get that? Okay, thanks. Oh, how cute are they? So I don't hold this. Once I got to talk to them. Can you believe it Will lose it right there? Not Lizzie, but But Maggie on this side of on this head of her? Yeah. So perfect. And then live. You just keeps it right down on the bottom. Yeah, and I'm gonna put Lizzie right here, Put your arm right around her. Squeeze her, and I don't want your knees like that. So there we go. Maybe Maybe this new. So she has something. Put this me up. So she has something going no more than way that you had it like this. Yeah. So she has something to lean against her effect. Lizzie, we're losing her with her little hat. Hey, no medium. It's good, right? up My very okay. My concern is that there's a lot of bright sun behind them. So I want to shoot where the background is. Sort of similar to what? They're here. I like that. Okay, guys, are we ready? What? All right. You like? Where is my Oh, that's darling. Okay. Like that? That's what we're shooting at 3.21 Change it to 3.5. Slow that down A little ballerina. Little ballerina. She's, like a little impish face. I totally love it. I'm gonna fix your hair. Lizzie. I don't think any ballerina would have her hair like that. What are you playing with? And he's I see that. Do you know what Do you want to see a real ballerina? Yeah. What do you think about that? Should I find one for you to look at? Okay. Hang on. Way have Where is Joy? The shutter? Hunger. Oh, yeah. That's not a ballerina, though. I said we were looking for a ballerina. I think it's in your legs, Lizzie. Busy, You see? Look, if you look right into that circles, do you see the ballerina? She says, Oh, Maggie, will you give her a little hug. Help us look for the Valerie. That Where is it? What a sweet little base I like her little empty face. Where's Hillary? You come join. I want a picture of all the girls together. So, Hillary, I'm gonna put you just kind of right here like this, hanging out with the girls. And I wanted to make sure we do one with Vatican Scott too. So I'm switching four point. Oh, says we have little. A few more people. So do you have any sort of engaged Lizzie? A little bit? And if she won't engage with us, then that's all just played together. Let's do some without the hat. Kind for no hat. Right about that. We're done with the hat. I would not normally shoot down on them quite so much. But just because I can't move too much today, I don't want the background a lot brighter than them. And because the background behind them immediately is dark, I'm going to shoot down a little bit. Normally, I would like to come more this way. Here's I got really low. We just opposite. I think that you're lying on the opposite thing. I really like that. So, Hillary, to make sure I like this exposure, I dio That's the key thing. Yeah. What do you think? No, no, you're good. I like I like the squeeze again. Carefully. You don't scream them too much. Yeah, that's no problem. I know. And I like that too. That's so cute. Why we not firing now? Busy is being tethered. Sorry. Everything. My shots? No, no, I don't know. That reflected will do much, and I'm overexposing slightly to do it. So we're gonna wait for some tethering for a second because we're attached. So they're saying more than I'm seeing everyone OK, out shooting them, OK? Do you have any questions from the worldwide when? Well, we're waiting on a W. Maybe if if you got this far and then the kids just lost focus, what would you would pay? Say, Let's take five. Let's take a break. I think you have to be flexible that way and not to start it. Because if you start getting really stressed out and then and trying to make, like, fit everything like I've said, we're we're very lucky. Very well behaved. I am. But I think that Teoh not give them a break or not to kind of go with their How they're feeling would be a big mistake. Is that it? Just sort of build a lot of times, if you say, like, let them play with something, something might happen that you hadn't expected in the first place. So I would definitely say that's all take a break. But I like how they're all sitting here with pink flowers. Let's see if I could capture so cute. Okay. No, I like that. So now I'm just sort of waiting for them Not not to pose with, just to see what they're gonna dio. And we're gonna lose Lizzie. I see. Yeah, Go ahead. You ready? Yeah. Hey, guys. E like that. So, kids, are we using a shudder hugger? Me? That's not true. Not afraid to shoot you fast. I'm afraid to shoot the where Normally shoot nervous. Do you want to get the guys to do one or just all faces? But I think it's really cute. Hillary, where you just come down to kind of make like a little triangle face? Yes, exactly Like that. That's exactly right. Ready, Livy? Ready? Yes, yes, Yes! That's exactly right. Job. So I think we're gonna lose Lizzie really fast. I try and get some singles of her right now. Let's take Let's take, um, Lizzie over here. How much would you say? Jewels in a real shoot? Like with She's too, right? How much time would you say you would have with the terror or seeing it right now she's back. She's already bored being unbelievably well behaved earlier. I normally it takes a lot, and it's helpful if you can to have another person with you Or like maybe normally the husband would be helping with Joy is doing if you don't have a helper, but I try to move faster to get I'm gonna try to get lazy right now. Um, we're know each other. Lizzie, sweetie, come with a Okay, So I like these little white flowers. Let's Let's shoot here. Since we have, like, the foot range, just membership. So, Lizzie, we see a ballerina move. Do you know any Valeria moves like this? Like this? Can you do this? I like it. I like it. What? The rock. We're gonna stand right here by these flowers. You know what I'm gonna have your standard because ballerinas air so grateful. And I love your boots today. So do you want to hold that rocker? Would you like to hold the flower flower piquing. We're gonna pick this far. What do you think? Good luck to go. Can I have your rock? Awesome. Good trade could change. All right, now we have our engage with her little rock looking face. I already had the exposure from earlier. I just brought it down to two point because I want more shallow. Let me see my little ballerina. Do you see one? Now, if you look in here, who will you see? Like looking at the flower? I love that I can. Those two Unless was a show. Somebody. Let's look at the back together. Oh, camera. Let's look at the back. That's what Tennis. Okay, I'm just gonna keep shooting. I love her little boots and I want to emphasize this little boots. Let's get a fulling We see a little bit of fast from you. Lizzie, stamp your boot for me. Like this? Yes. Good job. Flower smell pretty. Is it a pretty compelling my Oh, Does it smell pretty? Yeah, huh? Lovely. That was so cute. I love her little boost. Remember earlier a little ballerina move. If you want to show me a ballerina, move. Do it. Sometimes the hard part is like, if something, I try to focus and then master flatter. I like her. Will you like it? A little spin to get some movement. That's cute. Hey, Mag Maggie, where you come by me over here by here. The busy thing again. Well, those would be really cute shots Click, click together. I can tell because it's doing the flashing. I think it's like going into the camera. I get it. Let's give Lizzie five. I think Lizzie could She deserves the right to do Scott. And we haven't done Maggie by herself at all. So we're gonna We're gonna live. We're gonna give Lizzie a little break. We're going to let my camera catch up to this tethering. And And, Maggie, it's your turn. We're gonna find a little spot slightly different for Maggie. Let's try a little backlighting again since we're right here. Really? Favor. Do you mind sitting on the floor? Um, watch out. Camera fellow. We might have to back up. Let's back up a little bit, so we don't have to deal with this tethering. Normally, we wouldn't have to do that right here. Let's right here. We're gonna stand right over our shadow. Exactly. Did you pick this outfit yourself? I love the little flat. The little booth shouldn't. That was so cute when you just went like that. Would you do that again? But I know, right? Yeah, we're working. Whoa, That's way over. Exposed. So we're gonna test another one. Thank you. I like that. No, but that's really cute. We should that I want to get her full body, too. Can I go this far? Is that all right? Do me a favor. Take one tiny step. That direction look perfect. I didn't want that tree coming out of her head. You're like a regular. What did anyone? Six. This shade by shade Somewhere I could get it. It might be messed up, though. I like put the shade in another shade. Now you're like a regular stand a little further over this way. I'm looking for the sun just to hit the back of her head. It's happening. That happening It come Maybe right over here. back up blue. There we go. We're getting it. We're getting it. Back up. Back up. There you go. Perfect. Thanks. Let me capture the dad. And during that, The thing is, I can't run over there. No, you don't have to run up in it. But look at their faces. It's their models. Don't come this way. Can you go stand? What? Where Maggie is, you always Kids go in a definite, different spot. Not always, but. But today I want it because we had, like, a little group. Sometimes I try to do each kid in the same spot so we can have, you know, matching images later. Um, Maggie, come here a second. Okay? Will you help me? I am. I think your brother looks awesome up there since. Is he writing a bad shoulder like that? A lot of the That's cool. In a normal shoot with kids, would you ever show the kids the back of the camera? You actually a lot. And sometimes they they really like to see that. The problem that I have found with that is it. Sometimes if you do it, then the second you start shooting, they come running back here and they want to look so it's almost like, defeats the purpose. But if you can kind of set it up as a reward if they really like it, yeah, I think that's really fun. And then from Sam Cox, do you try to leave cropping room in the frame while you're shooting or you Do you try to get composition 100%? You know what? I'm a competition person. I probably should allow for a little extra cropping, but I never dio I just never have shot that way. And then another question is you have the 72 200 on, and just for people who are watching online and might not be able to tell, how far do you think you are from from your subject? 2025 feet was the question. I'm horrible distances. I keep training for next, depending on if I want full body or not. But I like to as much as possible shoot all the way out of 200. So if I have room and I can get back, I would rather do that and then be farther from them to help compress the image more. It turns much more into a portrait that way it's, I think, using the lens. Who its full capacity. About 20. Uh huh. We're back now. I can't see it, but really, it's not gonna work. No, I mean, that one worked. I just was working. That was a good example of why you don't want to shoot with a white background as we've kind of lost Maddox care all together. So So what? I'll probably do is, um, squat down a little bit. I don't mind. It sort of emphasizes the fact that there high up anyway and get the trees behind them so that we don't have sky behind them. So, Maddox, do you ride your dad's shoulders like that a lot? Yeah. You do that? Dad gets exercise. I think that's a little over exposed. Do me a favor. Let me see if you you take a couple of steps back and just, like, jog up a little bit. Just hang on to him. Don't fall. But come, like, not back up first. And then kind of end up where you were. Yeah, but you have to look at me, actually. Kind of want you to be involved with him a little bit. I like walking shots a lot. Back up all. Like pay five feet from where you are. I want you to end up where you were instead, so that they're still Yeah. And then try to, like, move a little. You could move fast. It's OK. Yeah, sure you can balance. That's fine. Let some hair. That's crazy. Can we do a walking shot? I like those who if we could just walk a little bit over here all together. Is that OK? Yeah. Um, Hillary. Maggie. And we grab everyone. Where? Maybe, but maybe not. We'll see. We'll decide. Right? When we get to that, this one might be harder to do tethered. But I will try. So even my this person, I might You know what? Maybe for the purpose of this, I should switch the 50. Yeah, we're gonna be in the street. I'm gonna switch to my 50 and try that just because I think it'll be easier to walk with them. Normally, I know I'll try it. Only I would use this and get really far back and get down on the floor. But I can't do that today with the tether, so I'm gonna Yes. Okay. Yeah. Great. Okay. Okay. Thanks. I'm sorry, Jules. How do you engage a dad? Sometimes, dads, the ones who set up the family photo shoot. It's true. Incidence. They get really grouchy. Yeah. That's a delicate question. You know, I'm gonna shoot this way. Yeah. Don't worry. Um, but I think joy suggestions and has of like saying that letting the dad get a beer or a drink while we're focusing on the kids will help a lot. And then kind of like, um, was it Johnny was saying earlier about how, when she talks to teenage like teenagers himself Kind of be like, Yeah, that's cool. We're just gonna was gonna finish this. I've been trying to get it real fast. And I think sometimes dads want to hear that, like, Look, we're seeing it and done really fast, just, like, be on board with me for a little while, and then we're gonna you know, So sometimes, yes. You unawares, right? Well, like what he was doing with Maddox. I really like, and then, you know, so we're gonna go, right? Can we go over in that camera? Okay. I'm confused. Oh, I see. I'm sorry I got huh? Look, this is the wrong lens. Well, if we could be this far, then I can go back to my my long way. Yeah, we loved all these lenses. Often pens has happened with this stick with one lens the whole time. Oh, you switch. Thank you. Thank you. I'm gonna go talk to them for that. All right, I'm gonna go talk to my family. So, guys, we're not going to start that far. We're going to start about here. Actual disease. Yeah. Yeah, I like the hand holding. I want to do that. But I'm not, like, pretty Look, a little. It'll be very short walk. It's gonna be a really short walk, and we're gonna have wires in our shot. But that's OK. We'll start here. Why don't we start here? Maybe ready. We're gonna go for a walk. Hang on. So what we're doing is worse. I kind of wanna walk over your shadow, so it's gonna be like, a little bit of a diagonal walk. We're going to do it this way toward this corner. Okay? And that's about as far as I really want you to walk. But for this one, I would really like it for you. Just, like, be looking at each other and not not looking at me. It also you guys, maybe you guys can just track. No, no, I like the line. I wanted to be line, but if you could started sort of this way. So we're not walking down the path. We're walking toward our shadows. So you're following your own shadow is what we're doing. It's not too much different than the path, but it's and then starting. Maybe at this around this line. Thank you. You're not There we go. I'm on. So can I bring this wire on the other side of them? Is that possible? Yeah. Okay. Thank you. So I'm gonna get really far back. I'm gonna get really far back because I want to try to stay, assume that as possible and they're all gonna walk toward me. So let's do this. Started the grass and work. Walk toward me this way. Yeah, We're gonna forget the street. Just what we don't want Toe. Yeah, Perfect. What do the So everybody take start kind of where the camera is and we'll walk toward me. So that's not gonna be back. Live with us. Okay? I like the fact that world it's much more even anyway, so see what a tan bark is back there. Just go away. That and then what I want you to do is move forward. I want to put you in where I want you to be. I like what she's doing. If you want, maybe you could switch for Scott and you guys could lift her up when she comes. I think I would be really cute. Do you mind? Thing on the end. Come this way. Like this. Guys over here. Oh, put her right in that. I love idea. Swing Fact. That might be fun. Joy thinks I give the other kids something to engage with. Like, that's why we can get her something like that. So what I want you to do, But I do. I'm using this as your backdrop. So I want you to walk away from that. So we were walking diagonally this way toward me. Just try. Yeah, coming through a little bit. Back up a little bit. You were coming. This just come toward me. But just trying to look at me. You guys always paint into the living walking, and we're gonna try to walk. Sort of really do it twice in. That will be all right. I'll try it this way. I'm telling you who invaded. Yeah. Oh, really? Wasn't working the tethering. All right. Okay. Maybe she'll look back at the camera sometimes to the camera. Okay, I'll do that. I have a little tiny, bit deeper f stop because they're going to be walking and I'm gonna go behind you. That's okay. 1st 2nd e Do my my exposure first that makes see where I'm at. That's pretty close. Now with walking, I want to have a fast, fast shutter speed to, so I'm gonna go upto 800. I s o 404 hundreds of a second. And make sure I like that. I like them interacting over there like that. Cute. I'm shooting a tall vertical here. Would you like to see camera? Tall, vertical shut. So we have lots of space of ahead to potentially do something with later. Can you see? Not? It's fun. It's tethered. Got it. Hey, can we practice it? We practice our swing for Lizzie. Well, we lost issue. We lost issue. Let's practice one more time. Let's do it. Let's practice one more time. Just swing. Not the walking. Just Menino. Hillary. That's the swing. Just swing. That's awesome. Liz, you're like an expert swinger. Let's do a couple more of those. I think that's really fun. That's so cute. So, so cute. All right, now we could walk, and I really like that. Oh, sorry. Sorry. You're welcome. All right, we're ready. So just walk into me until you get to the grass. But I want really fast walking not gonna walk it all. Alright, let's try. Let's try it one more time. And this time, without the other folks in the background will try. Wartime goes good. And then maybe maybe the swing a little less often, So we're not always looking down. Lucy didn't walk it all. Yeah, she was just sort of dragged along. Yeah. Yeah, but far 64 I was shooting a floor. Now I still want a little bit of softness in the background, but some of these are awesome. Hillary, Would it be weird if you tucked your hair behind your ear? Are just I was just noticing a lot of her hair is right in her face the whole time. So even though every else looks awesome, Shell won't like those pictures of her. Harris is covering her face the whole time Kiper walk because she was Okay, Let's go for some skipping. I like the skipping concept, and I like how when you hit the current, the sun hit you. So maybe to come to keep coming now that we have more space here and we might as well keep coming. All right? Lizzie should skip. I like the skipping. Yeah, that's great. Yeah, that's awesome. Okay, hang on. Right there. That's perfect. Ever take one big step backward? We'll just do one right here. Standing. I like this light. What time is it? How we doing? Pretty good. So my team could move a little bit this way and my camera fellow could move a little. That's you. That you? Okay, Sorry. That's why, Scott, I like how you're sort of lean like that. That's cool. Let them in. Okay. Think awesome. Way lose. Livy! Lizzie, we lost you. Are you done? Scott? Will you take me to hold on your hip here? Perfect. I love it. That's perfect. Do you want to use? Oh, yea, yeah, that's perfect. Yeah, let the matter in. Queen que today I like the lean and I like all that. Everybody looks really sweet. So Scott, give Lizzie a little smooth. Chucky were Ballymena Creen. That's really cute. This where you could use your daisy crypt, you know? Right. Can I just get one of just Scott and Lizzie? Oh, where's my little daisy grip? That would be fun. Although, if you give her a little smooth Yeah, like, is she like that? That's really Yeah. The tickling works. I really like that. So I moved myself a little bit, cause now the sun is that direction. So they said it was sort of hitting him on the side of the face. I don't want to see that. You want to put this in? Your face is right, Right together, like the cheek to cheek and look at what we have for you. All right? Okay. It's a shudder hugger and a daisy group in one. So we didn't really finish with Maddox when? Oh, yeah, we'll do. Combo. You stick that on there like this somehow There you Yeah, that that we need a good name for him. What? We recall him. What? All right. That's a good name. Exactly. Dinosaur. I don't like to let her face. We could turn around. It would be like this. The two girls. Thank you so much, Scott. So So Hillary. And and Maggie, stay right there where you are. And Scott, take one step out that way for a second. Maddox. Wanna go join your dad real quick? Yeah, that's really sweet. Um, Maggie, look over your shoulder. Yeah, that's really great. So, so great. Thank you. Guys. I think things like better. Sweet. Just as they're happening, I think we should do what, like, happening? Yeah. Let's do this. That's really great. Returned this way. Exactly the way you can do all three. Let's go over to the grass. It will do like one family dog passing, and then we can have We'll know we're all right, I guess. 3 30 Great. I want to switch lenses at some point. It's 3 30 So you have another 15 minutes to shoot if you want. Okay. Good. Play out. We should go on that little structure to give. Yeah, I didn't really finish. Yes. Oh, okay. Well, come up this way. Okay. I'm sorry. We'll come up this way. I like these rocks to Can we shoot here now that Yeah. We didn't really finish shooting Maggie alone, because remember Scott Head Maddox on the shoulders. We sort of grab that so I would not do a little bit more. And I always like to try to do backlit pictures, individuals and open shade pictures if it's possible. So I know we did a couple of Maggie with the sun behind her. Now we're gonna grab her and do a couple like this was open shade, and I'll try to do with the other ones as well. But we're going to start with Maggie really fast. What do you think of the look? It that's pretty like that. We did a little tile. I like this over here. Let's go over here by these rocks. Okay? Going a step right over records. We're here in these rocks. We'll try to shoot around our own year here. Can you do me a favor? Will you just sit, like, right down? What is it like that? I was I was thinking more on the actual grounds. We have rocks behind you. Like maybe even over here. Here. Come with me. I have an idea right here. So it's a little more city. Put your bottom right there. Yeah. And lead right against the rocks. I kind of like the texture of these rocks. And I want to sort of shoot from the side. So let's not pull you just such a cute dress. We don't, But I don't mind your knees up like that. I just don't think you should shove them. Dressing her. So you want to put your knees absolute? Could hug them. I think that's what Yeah, that's really, really all right. I'm a pic of Hirai s O, but already know him in the shade. Go for 6 Bring my f stop down to 3.2. Okay, so I want you to do just relax a little tiny bit. There you go. There you go. And I'm gonna come down here with you. There we go. I like this. This is cool through one shot, and I'm gonna check my surgery, which I like. Walmart, e and f have a happy accident. All right? You're such a cute smile. And I like how your headband matches your toes and your flip flops. Very fancy. Will you put the leg? That's closest to me. Straight. Yeah. You are so pretty. Look over that way a little bit. Not quite so much there. Well, I don't like the way the light's hitting that side of her face from that lake, so I made that one up. Whoa. So I'm gonna grab my macro lens really fast right there, OK? And I'm gonna try and dio ah, shot each kid right here like this. I like the shade, and I'm gonna use the macro. Then the symmetry of the shots might be good to How long are your family sessions? How long do they? Usually? About two hours. I find any longer than two hours. You Nobody wants to shoot anymore. So I would say that's probably about the longest we would go. And when you are in a part, do you need to worry about getting a permit just for doing the family show? Parks do require permits. Sometimes if it's a more popular park will find out about that. And that's usually something that I would then request the family to purchase, though, but a lot haven't really found to be that big of a problem. If we're just going in, it's just a camera. And we don't have, like, reflectors and a huge team of people that it's usually all right. I mean, so many people have that sell ours now, too. And they're, I think, parks or customer people photographing their kids so close you're not obnoxious. But it is good to find out what the rules are. Just you don't wanna get busted in a park in your own community and then not be able to shoot there again. So we definitely got permits. So this is an awesome lens for portrait. It's both macro, and I love shooting participle that weddings and families with this lens. It's incredibly sharp. It's the macro 102.8 I s lends, and I'm going to use it today cause I want to try to really focus in on Maggie's eyes. Let's try that. I'm gonna have you put your chin up a little bit much from this way. You really like this? Yeah. Nice house. It right here. Too much light hitting your face There you go. We had, like, a little too much light hitting her face. I want even for this, and I'm focusing right in her eyes. Very nice. Also. You look so pretty. I love that. And then you want to show the I like things like this words to sort of a face filling up the frame, can you see? And the focus is really on eyes. And I don't mind that I'm shooting down on her for that. I think it's very cute. And I like focusing on her. You can see your headband there even came. Or a woman or a little bit more time to look. Can you focus on it? Work? Okay. We're gonna do a couple more horizontal ones, and then I'm gonna grab another kid, and I like her sort of bonded off like that. I might try to use her hand in the foreground to like this. You put your fingers back up on your knee like that. I think that your nail polish It's beautiful. Did you do that yourself? She did. How often do you paint your mouth? No. Is that your favorite color? No. The pant look like bright blue color. I also like that color a lot. You have a winning smile. I love it. I'm gonna come in really tight like this. He shouldn't win like a giggle. Contact your awesome. Who would win? You would be the winner. I love it. Yes, you have 10 minutes, so we should get the other. Okay, so we have 10 minutes. We're gonna grab each of the other kids. Oh, look, they're playing. Wait, let's let's get some of them playing. So for this, I would grab a wide angle. Thank you so much. Maggie did such a good job. And I love this one. Here. It's a 16 to 35. I'm gonna do this really fast while they're playing, and then bring them back over here if you don't get it all just okay. Thank you. I must step over this guy. Can I go that far? Is that okay? Yes. I like to shoot wide like this for things like this. So it's more of a story. You left him a portrait. That looks so much fun. Okay. Where's Lizzy? Oh, that's cool. I like that. No shooting through this kind of wide. You can see the structure. Come on, let's get in there. I can also see the camera. Man, That's cool. Normally, I wouldn't do that, but I like it. Go. Whoa! Awesome. And I love the flare. I've got the camera set on manual So the sun is just blowing out. I'll show you all show seven back. He's our spinners. Yeah, Go on, Scott. I mean, I'm sorry. Aromatics. All of these are fun. Whoa, You know, getting seasick. No getting seasick. Lizzie. You're so good at that. So money I'll show you. Can you see? Can I show you? So they all turn the the highlight indicator off So doesn't flash. But, um, can you see? There's a little bit of flair which we're gonna play within post, but I love this kind of stuff, your little face smiling. And it's just that one. Sometimes it that one didn't work, right. But I like something that you could see the whole structure. You could see them in there. I'm gonna go get a couple more, cause I think I saw a little too much flair on some of those. I want to have some options, and then we'll finish those and then we'll Five minutes. Maybe I'll get in there. Would that be fun? Okay. What do you think? Yeah, I didn't realize this is gonna happen. I got a little I like this one. I'm gonna jump out, Maddox. All right, cool. You want to do one more spin? All right, hang on. Living on. I'm gonna get you on. Oh, you're really hanging on for Riel. That's awesome. Is she okay? These are hilarious. I love it. Here they come. Normally, I wouldn't have, like, an entire crew behind, but for this, I think we should move on. We only have five minutes left. But if they're playing and they're having fun, I'm really liking him. Here's the thing about pictures like that. Very few will be like the awesome one. You have to shoot a lot and fast. And, you know, I was shooting really wide because inevitably, like the sun is gonna blow the whole thing out. As they were spending, they would block the sun. So we get cool flair. But then sometimes it would move. And it would just be, ah, full frame of light in there. But then they'll be one where all three of them. You'll see. And there will be laughing. And it will be like the one great John or might not happen. But we try so we can wrap it up if you want. I was just gonna try toe get portrait's with the Yes, I could get the portrait. So you grab Maddox. Medics boy way. Need you. We need your beautiful bays. Come with me. Oh, uh, where's my What was my Teoh get? Um it's like Daisy. Grip. Shudder hugger combo. You okay? Who? Come with me. All right, well, take it off. Um, all right, Maddox, you're up. Jump on that wire. Right? Right. Come here, buddy. It right here. Right on the ground. Plopped right on down. Awesome. I love it. I like sometimes just a helmet. Plop down and see how they sit. Well, look at that. He's like a natural check my studies. If I didn't feel so rushed, I would just go back and look at my other settings. But now I'm just gonna do this when it's safe. 12. 50. I like that lost tooth. Ok, um, you're shooting at I've chosen. I s 06 40 here is very shady I thought I could bring it down a little bit. 400 then bring my shutter stuff down to 403.2. You don't need to shoot super fast. He's not moving. It's a nice lends. Goodbye. Bring it down to 3 and bring the shutter speed down even a little bit more and again. I want to try to match a little bit When I shot earlier of Maggie. So similar framing similar. I engaging. So if we wanted to do a trip, take somewhere. We could easily do that. And then the hardest one will be the little one. Probably. They're so cute. I like I like Oh, I would love to Just keep shooting that I know we can't. Okay. Are you having fun today? You have had the best eyes. Your eyes match your shirt. Did you pick that out yourself? Oh, she did. Mom is awesome. She's so good. And your hair Do you like to go? You're going to go really long with that. Yeah. I'm gonna do the same thing a little bit. Come down. Try to really engage the eyes. Were you this? Put your chin up. Look right up with me. Not quite like that. You can keep your head straight. That uncomfortable. Let's get a little bit of it. Maybe now, let's not do that. That looks a little awkward. I was going to come down like this. Do me a favor. Lean forward a little bit. There we go. That's cool. I like that. That's nice. And then I want to do a little bit of horizontal as well. This is such a great lenses. If you want to, you really could get in so tight. Give me, like a little smart buddy. Like a little chuckle. You're cool. You're very cool. Okay. I'll show you what I mean. Thank you so much, Maddox. Like I'm getting in really tight like this. Kind of filling his frame up with his face. I like that. Thank you. Maddux. Can we get Lizzie? You know, we're done. So we've had a great day. We have been in the studio getting lots of ideas and examples for building family business. And then we actually got to come outside, break out of the studio. First time for Creative live around the world were doing live shoot from the park. So that was very exciting for all of us. But it's so, um so thank you very much.
