Natural and Posed Modeling
So would it be possible toe? Have them get another chance to shoot with Matthew to practice some of what we've just been talking about. Yeah, okay. They'll be awesome. You know what? Make it very cool. Also, you wanna is as we shoot them, You could, like, maybe give him some pointers as they shoot with the real Matthew with the real matter. You real Matthews back. Yeah. Okay, so let's start with the 1st 1 Go ahead with you. So I'm shooting down low cause I wanna make them taller. So I asked a question yesterday. It was a question that happened yesterday. Where of tarp A. Said he was very short. And how do you shoot models models? Some very short. Um, and it's a probably advantage for that photographer because you want make yours look taller. Even the girls who were 60 tall. You look long and lean. So if the shooting from a low angle, I can take a look longer And Lena So photographer, I keep watching. Today you put in a good place. So compact that mark. So usually people will have targe...
t will have a mark for models, and you've got to stay in this area, so you should ask. Oh, how much can I move around? Or should I stay in this one spot? That's great, because the light is going in a certain area. If she comes way over here, she's out of the light. You can't come moving way over here, give you as much as you want to in this area. Not like give my girls a spot or area to move around and then they're good to go. So now you know your spot. Let's go to work. So I want to be natural. I want to feel really I don't want to feel like it's very stiff. It all I want you to be. You look amazing. Your hair looks great. Make it looks fantastic on all of you guys. The minute that they did a great job of transforming I love the hair and makeup. So now you see the most beautiful you possible we have this dress on and get us this swimsuit on Looks amazing on you. I don't wanna polls. I want very, really uncomfortable and relatable. Let's go to work to Posey. When you saying be natural, um, chance for you to just be like and then work your way into it. You know, this already is know it, and I'm not making fun of you. It's It's just it's it's not what he was asking When when they say natural, they mean, like, natural me to show her like four poses want you to come in and show me a new version of that natural. Yeah, okay, that's beautiful. Last night's come over this attack just a tad right there, right there. I like that you want right there. That's not feeling. It's not polos. Were you holding it and put your hand here? It's very comfortable and relatable and very really last night. That's good. They're Relax. Just relax. Relax, like almost can see. I can see in your face when you're thinking about the pole. Yeah, too much thinking. It's too much thinking. It's kind of like new girls do that. But thinking so hard about the polls, What pose looks good? How does he want me to pose? Forget that. Take the whole posing element and let it go. What you are doing is not posing. She's giving you a look, and it's very real. It is very big. It's a big deal between that look and that polls the polls, looks and feel stiff. You don't see opposing a magazine like that. It's like acting a little bit like acting right. It is. It is acting now, if he were to say to me, asked me to come and, like very Posey coming, opposed me. You want me to Yeah, right there and show me your your model polls. Now, he was not wanting natural, and he wanted Posey than I would be doing more stuff like over the same thing again, right there. Something like that. Now that polls. I like something like that. That's almost almost because you're going through a role, but has to look how beautiful that looks. Way I'm putting myself out there in a very raw way. So I don't want critiques. You know, I'm not getting retouched. No, absolutely spot again. Last night, last night, even even what you just did A lot of really big models that I don't want name the models do what they do to get comfortable. First twitch what we're getting after a couple big. Most do that. Yeah, but it's them releasing whatever to get in this space and give me a great shot. So I love what you just did. Whatever gets you there, that's fine with me. Fast ice. That's good. That's good. Come back around again. For me. That's nice. That's nice. Come back around more. They're let go. The posing. I see you're still in there. I know it's harder that go at first because I know you're posing. When that hands out certain when you're holding the things that I know is a pose and still in there, it's gonna take a moment to get rid of that. Yeah, there is no stillness. No, you can be. Still, it's just you're I think what he's trying to say is, It's too constructed, like right here is your hand here. Your hands should be relaxed. Your faces here, it should be here. So doing that. But let's move on to the next girl so that everyone has the same opportunity to learn. There. We'll come back to that mark, so also when, if you are, if your model and you're given a spot to be, take one big step back. So that's way off the mark and issues like half way here. She's still off the mark, so this spot you want to stand, they're if they give you a mark so you can move as much as you want to in this area, but not when you're back off. Because then the lighting's off and the topper should catch that. But you should also be aware that you can move what you want on your in that area. You learn as you go, but the really big models, they know about lighting, and if it's the wrong line, they feel it on their face, and you just know you'll learn. If you shoot over and over and over again, you will know when there's started with bad lighting, good lighting, whatever Come that spot. This is very natural on this basis is great on you last night. So let it go. That's nice, you hear? It's so beautiful. I like it that much when you, like, do these natural things, but do it in slow motion almost for me. Now catch that moment like that. Let's go through that again last night. That's nice. Beautiful there. I don't think about it. Just do it. Don't think about it just do it because it looks great for me. I love it when I catch that moment. That feels really that's to me. When you are at your most beautiful, you're studying right now. I want kitsch the best. You doing, what you normally do. That's beautiful. That's nice. Open your lips a little too, too much but relaxed. Hewlett. No, that's good. I know you're hearing all this information you need to learn as a model. It's been timing from the mirror, even. Yeah, you have to learn, especially when you're doing beauty work. When to open. How much to open. Some photographers don't want to see teeth. Some want to see t how much of the teeth they want to see. You know, a trick I've learned is is when you're getting to caught up in overthinking oppose, especially when it gets really technical with beauty shoots, you have to just say, I just need a second, relax my face and then come back and make sure you're pursing your lips a certain way. That looks natural. So, you know, we just overthinking things. I think it's what throwing off these these new girls, but that'll come with time so and what you just said also should have said about a lot of you shoots. It is very technical. She's right. It's very You can't do a lot of moving. All the movement is right here all day long. 2000 frames right here and each one needs to be different. And you have a client. You'll have a big advertising campaign. It could be 30 clients at a monitor, looking at every frame and dissecting, waiting for you to get that perfect frame. It's hard work, absolutely, and be relaxed and give that great shot, which you've done very well in your campaign. Yeah, and even with Matthew, we did an amazing beauty story together on, um, I wasn't allowed to move. I was right here. But I understood that because I've been done it several times before and when he didn't really have to tell me much about smile with your eyes or this and that I got it. Your eyes speak so loudly. Yeah, and my lips I have big lips. So I don't want Teoh. Have that be the focus you need to learn how to work your best features and to make it look natural. Yeah, I guess it on the head. You know, I work your best features and you get to learn that Bisping time for the mira my tire, since before all over again. Spend time in front of that mirror and learn how you look when you do a certain thing, what it feels like because you can't see yourself. You can feel it like some girls will say, We'll give you a sexy look. And to them it feel sexy, But it doesn't look sexy. You learned that feels like and what it looks like. What I'd like to know is what you're feeling right now. Can you tell us what? What already feeling? Are you Are you anxious? Feeling nervous? I mean, there's obviously nerves just cause I'm someone experience is just kind of I want to know what you want, but I don't know what it is You're kind of like, OK, I'll try this. I don't even know what that looks like, so I don't know, just inexperience. You think? Yeah, more than anything. So thank you. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Girls are so courageous to come up here and be dissected like that. Reminds me of America's next top model. Yeah, but you know what it's like to be dissect. Yeah, definitely. It is. It's an industry where they're gonna dissect you to pieces. And, um, and to be ok with that and not walk away feeling they didn't like me or feel rejected. And you have to take it personally. Yeah, that That's three. You re asked the quiet. So I've seen other photo shoots that different models have done and drain photo shoot. They will have that screen of the just took a picture. Do you usually use as kind of a mere to re just you know, I mean, this is a very rare occurrence. This is probably, like one and a agillion that this will happen. Okay, because us, the model are not going to be seeing your poses. Now what? They've been doing a lot. They'll have an application on their IPad work. The photo streaming will be coming directly to the art director of the photographer or the photographer's assistant. So that way they kind of see what's going on. But you is the model are not gonna be going over to check on that. IPad. What am I doing wrong? No. You won't know till after the shoot or they'll tell you afterwards. So when I mean study your pictures. I mean, if you get a gallery sent over from a test photographer if he said I don't know how many I was really able to choose. Here you go. It's up to you guys. Look through all the frames and study. Wow. I looked afraid in that picture or I looked dead in that picture. I look bored or my body looked weird on my hand was crooked and try not to repeat the same mistake. And then that's a great gauge, progressing as, ah, as a professional model, but nine out of 10 times. Probably most likely this will never be available. This is because this is a training course, and but yeah, on the job, there is a monitor on a job. Not this big. Of course. It's like a regular computer monitor, and that's only off the side, and you'll have the clients looking at it over there. The model uses is not likely see it. They want bottles to see if they don't want you to scoot over and be like, how do I look, I don't mind, But some get really annoyed because they don't want, you know, they're figuring out a lot of technical things are a lot of styling things, and it's not your job to run over there to see How am I doing that already? It's kind of like that doesn't sound like you're pro. I wouldn't go over there. I might say, um is my makeup okay? If the makeup artists ran away and I could go look real quick, but not to say, How am I doing its second setting the precedence to those around you saying You don't know what you're doing, your brand new Also, when we're usually over their mantra, looking at pictures, the hair and makeup styles in here doing things, tweaking that models, makeup, hair or clothing doing that time. Okay, so we have two more. Let's bring them up here. So that same spot again, I want to be natural. You're very tall. I want you to show that the elegant at the same time and the most important thing like you have this great long frame. It's all right here. I want the face to come alive, learn how to speak with your eyes even right now, where your faces now is beautiful. I want that when I shoot. So let go of all the ANC's that shows in the face. Be relaxed. Let it go. Give me your best. That's it. That's it. Just like that. Just like that. That's nice. That's nice. Beautiful, beautiful. Some coming up because you're taller. Now we need to make you taller. You're ready Tall last night. Relax the face. That's good. That's good, even throwing. Instead of just standing here throwing your energy off a little bit. Quite nice. That's beautiful. There we are starting to get there. Come back around again. For me, that's it. Stay with their staying that side for me. Magas Work the face. That's great, that the mouth go for me. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful and also get used to have a talk for start shooting. Because when I like something, I'll shoot more. And if I'm trying to find it, I'm shooting, click, click, click, and I find it what I like. Click, click, click, click. I find her in a moment, and as you do a shoot for photographer, it is a little dance where you find she falls into an image, you might get those three or four great frames and then it's like finding it all over again. Then you like Bam, bam, bam, bam! That's how I like to shoot. It's a dance and as the dance That's great. I'm shooting a lot like Oh, hold that. That's the moment. That's cool. Thank you. So you've been lucky to see all these girls work now and learn from them as well. So just very relaxed. Let it go and show me your best. Come to this spot again. So what changed around it? More turn I want find out your best and gonna turn you this direction Little more. They're now come back to face to me only that's nice Moving from Tad. There, right there, Right there, Right there. I feel like your hands are stuck here. You can move them as well. I love the ingest feeling in your face Me to buy the same feeling which very you like water is very fluid. I want to feel that versus being stiff. It's like your hair's move. As movement is flowing on the same feeling your face and the body, but I'm going back to the polls and again. Also, I think every model has their their best side and okay side. Find your best side. Do you agree? If that one does, and especially with the body, you know your body changes over time you become curvy or whatever. And some of the even the top models you know, they have a baby. Whatever doesn't mean that you're still not desired, but learn how to work certain angles. If your legs are long emphasized that don't shorten your legs. Don't, uh, crouch over if you're too tall. If you feel to talk, use that to your advantage. If you're too busty. Sometimes models can help their busty and curvy, and that's an awesome thing to be. But make sure you know how to use that to your advantage. Yeah, so you know, entire always jokes about having a large forehead or whatever. I don't see that people complain share hair that everyone's gonna there's gonna be a complainer. Her nose is this way, and for others, they might love it. But use it to your advantage. And I think, yeah, I think that's what makes a lot of these top models. They're not perfect features. They have a gap with their teeth or their ears or different or whatever, but use it to your advantage or high a disadvantage. If they're telling you not to pose a certain way because you do look like you're shortening your body. Then don't you learn from from the feedback and fix that. And you just mentioned that also don't get Corp and feeling You gotta change your look to fit into another mold because you're look, maybe the next great thing. If you want to go and have all the stuff done to change, to look like you know Giselle, that's Giselle's look. Yeah, if I has their own look and search for new girls don't don't feel they have to change your look toe look like somebody else. Your look, maybe the best new thing that we all fall in love with. And also for me, you know, coming from America's next top model. I was fresh. I had They caught me when they cut my hair. I was changed. I didn't know who you wanna was after that show in the modeling industry, finding my way and finding how I felt my best at. So even if that means growing out my hair and the agency wanting that, you know you're gonna be changing too as a model all the time. And if you don't, that's kind of boring. I mean, you could be the predictable girl, but, you know, you have to learn like what you said. Don't don't be uncomfortable with morphing into that character that day on the sat. Um, I think it's great when you see super uber sexy models who come bare face supernatural just shooting in a jeans and a T shirt because we don't get to see that side of them. So you know, you do. Don't you want to be like a girl? That's like psych. You thought I was like that? Look, we show you what I can dio you know, So definitely true. This base is beautiful on you. Don't be scared to show it is perfect on you and you have a certain angle that's great. Going a certain way. Learn that. Then learn out of working. Would you find that angle? Girls feel like Oh, I did that polls already. I can't do anything else. You do with a 1,000,000 different angles just by doing like from here to here to here is totally different. It's not going from A lot of girls feel they have to move from here. That's one polls from here in the polls. No, it could be from here to here to here, to here to here, And that's also totally different on the screen. It was like a very different image. It might feel like I just moved. I had this much is a very different image. So it's all very slight movements not having to go over here, over here or here. That's not looking for its very slight. It's very, very fluid. Thank you. Do you have the questions? How do you feel? I'm looking the question. What? The question was, since you don't have a mike, how do you feel, dear? During the photo shoot, I'm looking to find that moment where everything comes together. It might take the entire day, but as photographer I normally feel when I captured that shot, all the other stuff that happens is just leading up to that moment, that peak. But when I have it, OK, now we can move on And as I'm shooting, I'm just shooting you. Get you comfortable? The point where can get that perfect shot when I feel I have it. Then I move on to the mix shot and four brand new girl, Which about testing, also for Brand new Girl. She's coming in. This is her 1st 2nd or third test. I don't think a brand new Malkin give me three different looks that are great. I feel it's one. Take time to get her comfortable and get that perfect shot. So don't worry about getting 345 looks. If your brand spanking new worry on getting one amazing shot that will be like You're shot on top model with the helmet on. That's an iconic shot. It's one image, but everybody I know knows that image of you. It's beautiful. It's timeless, its iconic. We all want to find that image that will stay if you forever. I shot tire five million times a 1,000,000 like five iconic shots
