Topic Wheel, 6 Topics

now that we started to talk about the content that you have and who you're associating with. So that you can create content that's high authority that people want to consume, that. People believe that people trust, you want to start to organize that into the structure that we call the topic wheel. The topic wheel is how you organize your highest authority pieces of content into topics. So think about six topics that you care about for example, could be entrepreneurship, it could be your family, it could be going on vacation to exotic destinations that have beaches. I would ideally recommend that you choose three personal topics and three professional topics because not everybody is just one thing. You never want to be a one sided person where all you do is work on mustang cars or all you do is talk about facebook ads right? You want to be seen as a well rounded person and choose six. You can always adjust it along the way but stop and choose six of these topics. And then of those topic...

s who are the people that have the most authority in those items. I could for example look at public speaking and maybe I'm friends with Tony Robbins and Brendan Bouchard. Those are people who have a lot of authority in those particular topics that I want to build authority in as you're choosing your topics, try to be as niche and focused as you can. So instead of choosing business as a topic, what is the micro aspect within there that you can focus on instead of saying health. Maybe you can say your expertise is pancreatic cancer or maybe instead of beach destinations, you could say it's monarchy a in hawaii right? Or Kauai actually that's the beach destination. Think about how specific you can be with with that particular topic because then that gives you a more specific list of people that you can build your influence with. I see a lot of people when they first build their topic wheels, they put people like Elon musk and Richard Branson on the outside of their topic. Well that's a sign that your topic is too broad. Try to get really focused and then when you choose your three people for each topic, ideally choose one person that you already know and then to people that you would like to know and that way you can leverage the relationships you have with the people that you do know to get introductions to the people that you would like to know that way. The power of your topic wheel is a combination of the people that you know and the people that you would like to know when you have that structure in place. Think about how you can start to associate content that you've already created. Like we talked about in your content library and scoring your authority. You want to associate that content into the framework of your topic wheel. So in this case here I've got me in the middle. So imagine that's you right, You're gonna you can even use fiber to be able to turn this asset to have your face on it. You have your six topics, micro topics that you want to be well known for. And you have the people that are associated with it from those people, you're creating content, you're creating one minute video stories, you're retweeting them, you're clicking like on what they're putting on linkedin, you're meeting them at a conference, you're taking pictures with them. There's all these different ways to be able to build your network that you're taking these micro pieces of content, tying it back. Two different people in your topic wheel to the different topics on the topic wheel. All the way to you at the center where you are the hub of this topic. Well I want you to sketch this out right now. You won't have everything if you're just getting started, you might be thinking but I don't know where to start or my goodness, this is so overwhelming because I'm interested in 20 different things. That's okay. Start with just six. Start with the best relationships that you have to start with. Some of the content that you've already produced. I see some people that will say, but I'm busy, I only have 30 minutes a day to work on my personal brand because I have this other job that I'm doing to pay my bills. That's awesome. But I bet you you have some content from a few years ago that maybe you think isn't as relevant anymore. You absolutely can use that anytime you're in a picture with somebody, any kind of mention any kind of blog posts that maybe you wrote, get all that stuff in there because you're going to be able to reuse it. Once you put it into the structure of this topic wheel. Now that you understand the structure of the topic wheel, Let's take a deep dive into some of the topic wheels of some friends of ours. So you can see from people just like you how to assemble a topic wheel. You can be 16 and a young adult just trying to build your network and you can be 67 and you're already well established, but you're trying to get into digital, it doesn't matter what stage of life you're in or who you are. The topic wheel will build your network and build your personal brand.
