What about using a certain sent for a certain type of music would massive be better than another one or something like silent for house spoke s why? Well, I am I think yeah, a lot of these sinks capable for all styles of music but something that silent for instance it has a lot of kind of a p j is stuff going on so it's very good chance music but that's more to do with the presets and stuff and just the way it's laid out if you wanted teo, you know it's a really good job based are baselines inside and probably, you know, might take a bit more time and again massive is normally used to make dub step you probably type sounds because you have the performer in the nfl is a very good if you wanted to you could actually if you spent a bit of time, you could actually really make some really good chance he sounds and you know your message versus housing anyway, the generally you have certain simpson mohr geared toward certain styles of music but has more to do with the presets or what they're ...
focusing on that insulting for subs like the patriots and I think a big part of it so again it's more to do with transmitting in general they're just tools, you know? So I think if you delve a bit deeper into the soups and again like I said before just try and just try and get a few that you really like I just just really get into the nitty gritty of them and exactly how they work spend a lot of time on him well just skimming over the surface of all these different plug ins you you'd be a lot more rewarded I mean even that you know that the issues that yes to all the time it's pretty much my you know, I had quite a few places but I just used everything in the years to learn it inside out and a lot of people just because it comes with logic there's just nothing I well it's not that good you know this latest thing come out by what paper the way there but but now you know just spend spend time in the senate and you khun you and you'll be rewarded because you have access to thing back in the day before we had before everything's in computers it was all physical hardware I see that you have to save up your hard earned cash for a particular sin and that might be the only one you've got you're going to you know you have paid money for this is the only one you've got if you want to get some sounds out you've got to spend some serious time learning how this simple work but now because it's easy. Just have low zero in there on united, quite cheap or not. People used cracks the stuff this is a very easy just to to not have the value in these things anymore, you know? So yeah, I think it's important. Like I said, just to just concentrate on one thing learning pretty well. Yeah, and that's that's cool to hear that coming from a guy like you who probably has access to as much stuff as he wants. You know, at some level, you could be testing the new sent out every day. Yeah. And yet you you know, I just I really get into no. Yeah, just recently is that you won that comes with the native instruments, which I'm really excited about. Contour she's quite interesting. Um, let me get up real quick. Um, navy instrument this, I think, is part of the actor. Yeah, it's really good. I mean, it was quite a few other ones as well in here rounds and a few others, but I wouldn't go back and full funding spend a lot of time now learning this one. This one is one simple contour and again it's not it's, not a it's like a face distortion super sizer, which is a bit like your fame synthesis isn't the standards normally fm synthesis and faces two services is quite complex thing that the effort may is used to make a lot of complex sounds it's a very complex in what contour does is it takes there's a lot of complex stuff happening under the hood but it makes it kind of quite easy on again with a lot of these these simpson not based on looks and chatty sympathies I'm not necessary one hundred percent know what's going on and that could be a good thing you know some guy knows some rough basics of telephones and envelopes working stuff I'm going to find I'm going to get a lot more interesting sounds out of it because I don't know exactly what's going on you know um give you quick I explained I must have something yeah, well don't get this now but you're basically I'm really excited about contour and I'm gonna spend time just learned the near six a member since come out of course some other ones I'm going to spend so much time you know going through them I just get my head down for six months wherever learned this inside out, you know, make a lot of sounds out of it know how to use it and and move on to the next one um somebody asked if you could show us the second drums a bass track he opened yesterday okay? We'll hear some of those since yeah, I think they're talking about the way, you know, here track some of the simpson sounds were just samples from the original track that I was that I was re mix in. Some of them were original sounds. I'll go for that quickly. This and yeah, oh, stop being funny is basically this is the track here, theo. Theo, this one is actually I didn't make this. This is part of the original track because sam is partly regional truckers. Well, let me just play quickly first, if you can hear it, yes, so basically the base on him. And I think this is one of the few occasions where I didn't use a separate sub, uh, to the main base line, so that is the envy sub and again, this is for my litmus park, so I really made this in something I don't remember what is pretty much to stay like a sound wave that's, a bit warm side of the story. Top of that, I had three space thiss was actually it's actually, a sample from somewhere this this sounds and live thank you. Allow this maximize our thing because there's lots of ups and downs in the different frequencies is kind of made it, but more solid again one more week you taking the base up because I'm using a separate sub and also I did some river to yeah, I do actually talking earlier about the river but the drums are that is still twenty years we were quite on the base when you put them on base always putting ae q afterwards and take out all of the bottom of what you're gonna get some kind of facing problems are just so much with the verb and again that's one of the reasons I use river bs on a on the bus I supposed to put it directly on the channel because it depends on the river if I put it on the channel I might not be able to take the river basically weaver separately to the overall sounds so yeah reverb on base always take and also here of complicity there as well you seem to be making much difference there you go with that anyway? Um yeah, well, a lot of times they were going here another one here this that sound there was originally a base sounds it's something I do sometimes is taken by sounds I've taken quite a lot for me what's going on here so this is the original sound she's uh oh actually I've actually made this one in the in the next twenty four so if I take the filter off what I don't get a filter on it have done by fo cited a cutoff frequency she talked about sympathy from day one so if you want to know more about that and go back to that out with what my lady up higher, very good so we're done here boosted some some of the tops and needs to get I think some of that is out of it put a distortion on it, I think the distinction of rank you take some of the base up bruce tops again, I've got a load of plugging load of toxins on it, so the first one is a reverb that'll be the next one is a distortion bus distort your bus! I've got e q boost in so we could see their guitar imposed china q overdrive and on this box office and it's more buses again self centered tio bus ten, which I think is a reverb on bus for team think it's a delay the design, of course. Lastly, another delay, so take will be solved and take the fear off. This would have been the original sounds I said space is just based on played up and with everything on it filter this that is just one of the sounds I think I have another one here was, well, thiss sounding theo, if you've noticed, but trickle use quite a lot, probably in about three other trucks I've shown you the last few days, isn't it a little sound like this when we do one but we're not to the next one due up activities to give that kind of variation on that is, uh I think it's the same sound, actually, but with a different set of plug ins and stuff on it, here's more my extreme on the distortion of stuff here. Yes, I think I probably why done so should be quite a lot of poorly would have had this sounds and I would push this this copy key here and then a change I would pass on this one. I've got spread spread on it because he sounds well. More no, obviously with a bit of river been today, it makes him a bit wider. But I also got this hysteria spread here as well, because this is happening at the same time as these other bases here. So you can kind of listening in the middle of the field kind of widens it been it separates it because it's in a very similar frequency ranges, is the rest of the base. Uh, well, so was their case over here. That's amore base sounds wait, here we go. Is that same base that board based so that's, how it would have made these sounds down here, I probably would have went for a few sips, wasn't really get inspiration and for, you know, what? Just he's got quite a always just used this base for just plug ins on that play a pyre on got some seem sounds out of it now regional anywhere this is former keep just a sample basis from um wait way to go from somewhere and I think that's about it really? I mean, all the other sounds in here where from the original track quite simply sounds of string sounds also here actually, I'm a little piano piano here that happens every now and then just my own piano I think of the nixon extremely cute on it takes a lot of base out I mean, it's um it's technically tops out but some overdrive in in a bit of a delay way to take these two off here, andi also one other sounds now this sounds is interesting because this actually heard in my head and I was right I want to sound that does this and I went about actually created it from scratch, so I really want to go to the state bar from or something and also actually yeah, I need to send that does that basically what this sound does is this this's top sound that this rises up in context thief on the way that is that I have done, I would have chosen some way forms it's a sort of sort of on a post wave turned the oh, I think ultimately actually, yeah, I did say I could have done that we've envelopes and stuff being in that field to write about that I think in the end I wanted more control so maybe I signed it too. The modulation will interesting. Yeah that's that's all there is this something under here? See in there? Yes, I'm how are kind of joined in some legislation to filter opening can't seem to get this summer, but they're basically I I want to make a pet sounds were called and I went to philip to slowly open so I just went ahead and made some from scratch thing bit of allowing it I want to stop dead as well so so make sure that the release was all the way down is no me on these type of pad sounds you have the release up so when you let go it throws off my wedding tio stopped there and then have a delay on it she's what I've done here today? Yeah, so that that was the last sounds and I think this I think that was it. Yeah awesome singing for him wants to know what do you think about logic pro excess drum feature or do you think is best to make your jones from scratch every time you have you ever used the built in trump future and logic yeah, it was ah, it was quite interesting I mean it's a little bit it's a little bit gimmicky at first because you've got this guy he's got his name and he's a little drummer and so on and so forth but this sounds in there actually actually quite good. Yeah, I think that she's somebody I would offer actually made my care of and one of the main advantages of that logic a lot of glamour is a finkle round robin which is each time you press the snare john for instance, even if you're the same velocity it will play a different snare so for kind of live sounding drums that's really good but for something like john bass you might want exactly the same scenario each time in general I was quite compressed by the quite impressed by them doing drums there I think also you you can get it to play for you as well if I remember right you had a little thing you could move it to faster it's quite it's quite good here. I mean, yeah, I had it sounds that it will play features good, plus the fact you could program it yourself you know, I thought was pretty good here awesome we've got a couple questions about where you draw your inspiration from and maybe this is a good spot tio to wrap up on his just sort of talking about who you listen to and what inspires you on what that process is like I listen to a lot of a lot of music all the time as well you know I mean I have a lot producer friends and they very very actually listen to music you know like even just in the background you know, maybe if they're driving their car they might listen tio being generally they kind of big music becomes work to them so they only release into music when they're making it may I'm kind of the other way around and sometimes I could be sitting in the studio and probably just listen to music that make music so sometimes I think it would be better if I was a graphic designer because I could just spend today yeah I listen to a lot of different styles of music like a lot of seventies musical of funk in latin and stuff and I suppose we'll be with you know I know everything listen to expose the influences you in a certain way yeah yeah listen to all kinds of music funk a lot of reggae house music new old on again I could learn a lot from me a lot former doctor drays clinic chronic two thousand album but I've never been that much into hip hop on in relation to that how much how much space there was in there and how much less was more you know, the kick drum was actually only be there'll be less kick drums and what you know, normally there'll be an extra I'll be tempted to put a few more in there, they didn't actually need to be there, you know, there's so much space age I just learned so much just from just listening to that album and I think, yeah, I mean, there's two sides to this inspiration and it is the technical side ofthe off mixed down this stuff, you know, I think it's a good idea to analyze from a mixed and point of view is good to analyze your favorite tunes and actually listened listened carefully to you know that the elements of what's going on there, I mean, when I first started getting to engineering first, like doing that, I was a bit upset because I could never listen to music in the same way again, you know, a kid or someone or people not really into production, they hear music as a whole, you know? They hear the whole song that really listen to just the baseline or just backing vocals of something, so when you first get into it, you start thinking, you know, I can hear that kick drama canoeing on, but first it is a bit like I couldn't really listen to music in the same way again as a whole now kind of switching on the north fork in here just as a whole or I can kind of analyze it on a lot a lot produces as well purposely don't listen to music, especially within their own genre just because then there could be more original they're not they're not being influenced by by their peers, you know, which could be good as well because you know ever even conscious of it or not I'm going to be a copy in certain traits, you know, off the jobs that are making so so yeah, I mean it's a personal thing with where were people listen to a lot of music and beat and, you know, consciously influenced by it awesome to every final closing thoughts yeah, again and everything. Like I said, less is more of a lot of times you know, idiots and stuff for example instead of adding a little extra bits lou it's just never always just take something out instead, you know? So that can be quite helpful. I think that's a really awesome, but let me just go through some of the sounds here e I think that was maybe massive, possibly they just basically lately, yeah, yeah, yeah hee hee so any form of kind of dance music is quite hard ah, never made in lots of different various ways. Some of them were made using just soft since. And I'm not putting for a bit of that board, something that almost made on the mini booth on again. I usually so it's, not like I've just for what I need to make some base, absolute masters, make a load of sounds, and then they're gone. You know, actually, I get all of us have, you know, using these and all my tunes.
