Delivery: Compression Differences

This is a test for Creativelive. My name is Chris. The Rocketman Adams. Okay, Now gone before you. Before you do anything else on there I saw would you mind going back and just holding and just go back and hit and then hold when you get a chance when a picture comes up, OK? Now you see that we've got a lot of compression, right? We have a lot of compression. We don't have a whole town. Equality their overall. Not that bad, right? You saw the color when we shot this. The colors. Not that bad. You could see the green up there. Right? That's that's part of the compression problem. Can you play it one more time for me, please? This is a test for Creativelive. My name is Chris the Rocketman Adams. Not bad. What we don't have is we don't have a nice play page around, right? We don't have a nice play page. We certainly don't have a nice you, Earl. Right? We've got we've got a dynamic, Earl. But overall could be worse. Right? Could be worse. Terrific. We see in the next one, please. It's also ...

YouTube is actually is not a test. I would like to say Happy anniversary, my eight anniversary to my beautiful wife, Nancy. Nice job. Nice job. Yes, please. And back a little bit, if you would, please. To a still photo. There you go. Well, you'll see. Once again, we talked about how sometimes darker skin results in harder compression. And we've got We've got significantly harder compression here, Right? Because we do have darker skin tones. I'm seeing some green here. Got some more green here that maybe I shouldn't have. Let's go ahead and play it again. Actually, this actually is not a test. I would like to say Happy anniversary, my eight and adversity to my beautiful wife. Nancy doesn't bother me that much. I'm not overly impressed with it. Of course it doesn't have you look terrific in. And by that you do. Of course. You knew that yet? Yeah. Yeah, and I like I like what you said to that was really cool. This very cool. That's very cool. And of course, you all saying, Hey, we don't have a very fancy, you know, you are all that's okay. Let's take a look at video. I see there up next. Let's see, this actually is not a test. I would like to say Happy anniversary, my eight anniversary to my beautiful wife, Nancy. Wow. Same thing. Could you go through, Do a little pause for me, please? Oh, yeah, that's much better. That's much better. Lots sharper, Lots sharper. Oh, nice. Look at the areas. Vacuum here. No compression issues there. Little over sharp. And that might be a little bit, you know, off fast. But go and play it all the way through, if you would, please. This actually is not a test. I would like to say Happy anniversary, my eight anniversary to my beautiful wife Nancy. We also could on this, even though we can't customize the play page right in this part, we could put it in a portfolio. But we could easily change that. You are l Because this is a pro account that your out could be vimeo dot com slash hill without a problem. Right? So at least we got that working for us. Very nice. Very nice. Terrific. Could we see super rocket Man, this is a test for creativelive. My name is Chris. The rocketman. Adam's okay. Looks pretty darn good. Hey, just just for the heck of it. Can we hit that HD button? Is that going to do anything? Cause it already is an HD right? Hit play. My name is Chris the Rocket Man. Adam. Now it's not in HD, right? So couldn't hit HD again for me, please. That'll put it back in HD right then Noticed the difference. There you go. See, everyone knows different HD and not HD. And I do believe their definition of HD would be 7 20 versus I think it's 6 40 Cindy and video guys know that. 6 40 versus 7 21 of those. All right, So film had asked this earlier, and you just brought it up. What resolution are you capturing day after day? Yeah. Typical set up for me is going to be I record in 10. 80 p at 60 frames a second. Then we also if we're going to go to to, uh, final cut. If it goes next to final cut, we will use the A V C H d format. Right? Let me back up. Just a second in in this camera. The GH three cameras as well. A couple of the cameras you've got a couple different ways of recording video. One of them is the easy way, right, which is the dot M. O V. That's just your basic quick time file on M. O. V. File. Well, an M o. V file is ah, fat file, right? That's a fat file. Well, if you were to use a ah Panasonic camera, for instance, you would have the ability to use an ABC HD instead of M. O V. Well, that's gonna be about 1/3 smaller. The quality, my opinion, is just Aziz good, if not better. Unfortunately, the ABC HD file is three files. While it's recording, it's not one. It's three files. It's on. Lee converted into one file upon import, so it needs to be imported by a utility that has the ability to combine three files. The A Beach D. That's actually the private fold of the A B. C H D. Into a video. And then when it does that, it typically will converted to an M. O. V. Wright because you can't, for instance, out exports, say from light room or from final cut or premier you can't export to ABC HD. It's not possible doesn't exist because it's taking apart something that's already taken that's already been put together. So for my standard settings, it is a B C H D 60 frames a second p. I use progressive 60 p. Then if it's going to time to ah, final cut pro timeline, it's imported in there. We will actually use a 7 20 timeline at 30 frames a second. Why, you may ask. Well, the answer is that if we need to do any sort of zooming in right say that we've got a timeline of a 7 20 video, 720 pixels video, right? And if we need to do any crawling in zooming in well, what happens is is you'll have the ability because you've shotted in 10 80 it will go back to that original file and you will lose nothing by zooming in 30%. So in some of those vlog posts of mind that you see that start off way back and then they zoom back in where they're supposed to go. Haven't lost a dime because I'm shooting on a 7 20 timeline with 10 file size like frame that doesn't crop the video brought in your examining allows you more flexible. You're exactly right. I mean this back at you to the 44 k question. We've got this funny thing going on in video, and it's this little sales marketing nonsense. Game right? 7 20 HD is 720 frames tall by 1280 picks up frames, pixels tall, 720 pixels tall by 1280 pixels wide. That's all 7 20 HD is 10 80. HD is 1080 pixels tall by 1920 pixels wide. That's a lot bigger, man. That's a lot more data. Well, did you notice that that when we said 7 20 HD, we talked about the vertical size. Right? And did you notice when we talk about 10 80 video? We talked about the vertical size. Well, guess what happens when we talk about two K video. We talk about the horizontal size. Yeah, to cave in. He's only this much bigger than 10. when we talk about four K video. Guess what? We don't talk about four k vertical. We've got about four k horizontal, so it's only twice the size of 11. It's not four times the size of 11. 20 are just sorry. 10 10 80. Yeah, What a shame. However, it's all in the marketing right now. The buzzword is four K four k. Will I ever you see it in the in the vault? In the forms will your the cutting edge of of the guy You're the guy we look forward to come on your own. I'm creative Live to talk about all this stuff in. Why aren't you using the GH forward before K thinks is? Do you have a four K TV? Oh, well Oh, but you could get a four key camera. I said Wow. I said, do you have four k editing capability though? The cameras four k ago. Yeah. Okay, man. All right. I said, yeah. I can also go to the Suzuki dealer Aiken by Haya Busa. And it will do 262 miles an hour out of this right out of the showroom. Now, I could take it right down the street to the guy that put twin turbos on that Haya Busa. And do you know that Allow that bike to go 320 miles an hour. But you know, there's no tires in the world that will allow you to go miles an hour on a motorcycle. Okay, So is that solving a formula for disaster? Teoh, Right? Just check. It does. Me too. Yeah. Hey, Kate, we have two more cool pictures to see. Yes, When I see, I see something I think I'm gonna, like, hit the play button. That's a folio. I would like to say. Happy anniversary. My eight anniversary to my beautiful wife, Nancy. Very good. Not grateful. Playing hit Pause for me. I'll show you what I see. Yep. Hit. Pause for me. Notice the circles that I see of compression. Yeah, those are circles of compression. That's right. Yeah. It's compressed pretty hard. Yeah, Compressed hard doesn't give you a nice play page. Sure does. To give you the ability to customize that play page. Yeah, sure does. You've got tons of beautiful abilities to go in there and take that page and make a cool background behind it. Make it put a frame on its own little size and style. Does it look very nice like that? Sure. Can you put up a custom. You are. L on it. Yeah. You sure can. Yeah, but is the video quality spectacular? No, it's not. It's not there. One of our sponsors of us here. And I love you guys. I know you're watching the show here. We love you. We love then folio. But that's fine. That's good. That's good. There's a lot of points about it. What? I use that to deliver that to my customers and my business. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure if you did it, I wouldn't bother me, though. It wouldn't bother me. Sure. Could you show me another one? Hit the right side. Jumping out of the one. Yeah. Let's go take a look. This is a test for Creativelive. My name is Chris. The Rocketman. Adams. Nice. Nice. Yeah. Please go back and hold. Yeah, Good. Okay. We've still got those compression compression lines a little bit. We ran out a bit depth with that. That's OK. That's okay. For the most part, you got that beautiful border like the nice edge on it, right? We've selected a lot of this edge so we could change that ourselves. You've got are like buttons. You got our little tweet buttons there. We could change that up there. Do I have a problem with that? No, I don't know. No, I don't. In fact, you've got your, uh uh You've got your IPad there, don't you? Okay. Can you go and take a look at it on your IPad and see what it looks? Why? We're, uh We're going to something else. What? Maybe can. That's beautiful. Uh, way cheated. Now we got the big bingo. Hang on a second. Let's look at the big love here. Yeah, Yeah. Here we go. This is my e card is I'm sorry. Go ahead and play. I didn't mean to do that. I'm sorry. You play for the big I would like to say Happy anniversary, my eight anniversary to my beautiful wife Nancy. Yeah, look at that, By the way, if you don't mind, I know Dan fosters watching, and he's done a lot of work for that. Would you mind just giving him a little round of applause for thes fans in the chat room as well? Just saying, Yeah, we were told two years ago we were told by a a major video developer That that was not possible. Yeah. And, you know, sometimes that's all it takes. You should get somebody like a Dan Foster. You know, not so much. Me? I'm not like that way. But you get a Dan Foster that says what you mean, that's not possible. Uh, that's the best video delivery that there is. Now, the cool part about my in card is a course that you get the ability to develop the whole rest of the play page to write. So now that you are l by the way, kiss you in case you can't see, it is my e card dot pro slash W c slash a n right. And Louis, I'm assuming you put that up there. Um and did you put any sort of title up on it? I did not. Okay, so there you go. Okay. Just says creativelive test. Okay, so say now, remember, you can easily go up there and scroll that back up if you would please. Thank you so much. You could easily change that to whatever you wanted to and whatever size you wanted to write. You could change that. So whatever color this is called the subtext, which you could, of course, change by Chris. Yeah, well, you make crystal the blue background. You see the difference. Yeah, go ahead. Let's just play. Chris, This is a test for Creativelive. My name is Chris. The Rocketman Adams. Yeah, look at that. So if we wanted to, if Louis wanted to, he could then fill in the rest of your data, right? Your email, your whatever. And you could have the interactivity pop up that that shows why, When you want to sell hybrid for tonight. Man, I apologize for acting like a sales person for this, but I am extremely motivated. And I'm extremely energized when I see something that powerful that allows me to make to make money As soon as I see that and see what it does and how it does. It tells me, Okay, there are other options, and that's a great way to get started. And for those folks that are on a budget, then take your time and use by of Emile pro account and use the portfolio. It's OK is going to be great. No. Is it gonna work? Yeah. Yeah. It's gonna work when you're ready. And when you're ready to customize when you're ready to do it the right way that you know where to go, you know where to go. In fact, we've We've seen a photographer, man whom I hope he's watching. Ken Challenge Berg down in Louisiana, is a real estate agent, and he was having tough times down there because, you know, that's New Orleans area. He's he's had some tough time down there, all right, so he decides he's got a photo degree. He wants to be more photo. Guy says, Hey, saw this holy card thing so that's really cool. Said, uh, my photo skills aren't quite there. So what he did was he hopped in the length in group and he said, Hey, I'm trying to ask him trying that Where do I start? So we started with some of the videos and he learned some lighting skills and learned supposing skills and some coaching skills. And what I really liked about it was is that he took his work as he was making it, and he wasn't afraid, and he posted it up. He said, You know, guys, ham Sorry, I'm way behind the rest. You guys said. But, you know, give me some suggestions and what I'm supposed to do to make this better. And instead of people saying saying Oh, go to school, you're like you're lighting is horrible, like What's wrong with huge said No, no, no, that's not what it was. It was old. Listen, hey, you got your main light is nice and neutral. And then whatever you got there for your kicker light, it's blue. They said, Oh, the kicker light was the window and I said, Oh, we were in auto white balance. Let's listen. Rule number one again serious about photography, right? Get the camera off Auto white balance, right? Get that camera off auto exposure. Let's go learn what almost buttons do. And then, sure enough, he goofed around a little bit more, realized they had the wrong camera, realize the camera that he had was just fighting in every step of the way, sold it, bought the right camera form. Next thing you know, his works improve. And guess what else Ken Shallenberger now I do believe, is one of the largest customers of by. In fact, he switched over and bought his own. Didn't he? Yeah, he decided that he didn't want to sell my e card dot pro slash chaos slash Whatever. So he went to Dan Foster and bought a home version, his own unique version, and has whatever it is, it's got a name to it. It's Southern something. Card dot pro slash. Whatever it is. And that's now Hiss. That's what he's selling because he didn't want to sell the my E card brand anymore. And I said, You know what? Good for you. Go get him. Go get him every time. Go get him. Go get them. Boy, I am so proud of you guys for doing that so quick. That was a great example. And it really worked out well. Really, really Well, Chris, please don't tell him that too. Yeah, Thanks, Louis and Mike, Was it here? Thanks for teeing that up. That was so I opening to see them lined up side by side. The differences? Yeah, that's great. And thanks for Yeah, it was really a team here. T included it up. Throw a curveball. The middle of thing there. Hello? What are we shooting? I should call. It's gonna be easy. Guess what happened. They pulled it off and I learned something, too. I wanted to see it. I wanted to see it live. I want to see it here. I want to see it in front of these thousands of people. I don't want them to go through the same experience that we all that we all go through, and that's important to me to important, Please. Ready for tough questions, sir? That's a tough one. So I was really impressed earlier today when you showed the first e card with those links. The end. I do Web design. I do. I make videos. I do this kind of Thank you So that ending. And really as far as what we saw just now. Those links. It's really on this last site. That's really where you're going to my cart. That's where you're gonna get it. That's the only place any hacks or any advice to people that want to use video, want to use SmugMug how they could change that functionality and all. Is there any any hope for them to get to make that to make something different? Putting it? What would be your advice? They wanted toe have something like that so say they wanted the interactivity pop up. Yeah, yeah, as far as I know, we have talk to those folks. We have a we have a great relationship with in Folio or a great one. We have a very good relationship with SmugMug, and we've talked to him about it, and I can't disagree with their opinion. Their opinion is, they said, you know, will very few people care about that, and we have a lot of people that care about other things. So we as much as we love you, we love to do whatever you want, said. But we don't see that as as any issue. They and they use their own numbers. And I think their numbers are public and they said, You know, will you've got people. There's people who've got video on Zen Folio And then there's got people who have video ends and folio that they're trying to sell as downloads, and it's a minuscule amount of downloads that make up the sales. So they say, Well, why would we bother putting any sort of extra functionality on there? Because we, we have actually offered t give them the functionality. I mean, Danone's that Dan wrote the code. I mean, it's that stands cold. However, anybody could could reverse engineer that. I mean, they really could if they wanted to. But you know what's funny thing? They think nobody wants it. Yeah, Yeah. They think the only guy that wants it is me and they they know I'm weird. I am a little weird. I got that. I said, however, I'm not the only one. That what you want it right? You want it? Do you want? I think it's cool. You okay, Louis? There's five, right? You could have it if you'd like it. I'll call then and I'll get you a free count. You know, Im you. Thank you very much. Very, very kind of your will. Use it, right? Use it. We do have another question for you. See? See. See our video and my car. My key card accounts. Ones where they could be password protected for viewing only. Yeah, Yeah, they can. The for instance, on the video video for sure. Video does a great job on allowing you to password protect. They allow you to not even password. Protect that. They allow you to log in on Lee Protect, which is pretty crazy. Now on my e card dot pro, they give you a couple different options. One is, for instance, there are some photographers that believe that if you buy an e card, you should be able to download it and put it on your website or put it on your video page or whatever you want. Teoh and I don't disagree with that. I don't do that. But do I think that it's wrong to do that? Not at all. So you can on your own. My car got pro account. When you're in the back end, what's called the dashboard. When you're in the dashboard, you can enable the download. You can also enable the viewing stats to be made log Annable by that person so that they can see how many people have viewed your card. How long have viewed it where they viewed it from dates, times the whole thing on on there, so that all that that info, in fact, is available. Unfortunately, when you look on my cards, I don't use them. I don't want people to download those things at all, because all it leads to his phone calls and I got mawr than enough phone calls. Yeah, but I can't get to anyway. Yeah. Do you have any more final questions from our studio audience? You're recommending the Panasonic was looming blue mix? Yeah, I recommend the loo mix. It was G h three of the one that they easiest when I guess to start off with the G eight. Yes, sir. The G H three. Well, well, there. There are easier ones to start off with, but if you're talking about doing the type of work that we're talking about, there's the loom ICS GH three if you're if you're a Fuji guy and you appreciate the finer edge of Fuji, the Fuji X E two is a terrific camera. Also, the x t The new X t is pretty terrific there too. But if you want to take the easy way to go, have good quality. Lots of features. Easy, affordable. Can't beat the GH three. Man, you just can't You know somebody's got some great cameras Don't get me wrong, but it can't be the looming. They just I guess that the GH four just come out or whatever it did. Yeah. Yeah, About three weeks ago, it was available for purchase, and it's it's physically larger than the GH three. I'm hoping to see if I can find a GX three used somewhere, but yeah, it seems to be no, nothing. In fact, have a hard time finding gauge to used. Yeah, Yeah, they're they're popular, buddy, their popular. But you know, they're cheap right off the bat, you know? So actually, you could steal his. Yeah. Yeah, he's got this car I know. Where's cars Park? It's orders. It's not hard to find a bit of this car.
