next. We need to add sound. You got it. We need toe add sound. Oh, my gosh. This is gonna be a big, big, big deal. When we talk about adding sound, the first thing that we need to do is we need to look at equipment, right? The equipment that we have inside our camera is going to be a big problem, right? We've got microphones that air inside of here, and they're not going to help us. Ah, whole lot at all. Right. We're gonna have to add some sort of microphone on top of this to figure out what we're gonna dio and how we're going to do it. Well, we're gonna talk later today about adding sound on different ways. Different cameras of how we're gonna put this back together. Right? Okay. We're headed towards a handful of different spots to adding sound with set microphones, location, microphones like we did and ones that we didn't do. Right? So when we talk about adding sound, we want to talk about how important sound is to this whole piece, right? With video? Of course, we've got plenty of s...

ound, but with photo, we don't have a whole lot of sound, so let's talk a little bit about what sound is going to do for us. First up is this is a piece from, ah, photographer friend of mine called Paul Gero. He's a terrific fella and he's going Teoh. He's given us a piece that's going to show us the power of sound. Take a look at this, do a bunch. I'm thinking the bad guy sound itself is so unbelievably important, so important that we need to make sure that we incorporate sound and we think about sound. So when we talk about all that different piece, those all those different pieces of equipment of sound, we've got to make sure that we deal with every one of them. And speaking of equipment, let's start talking a little bit of about equipment. Today we're gonna talk about a handful of different tools. Some of them were going to go over in the next segment, but I know that there's some folks that are really interested in how we're gonna record some of this sound with these different tools. You're going to see me using a wide variety of different pieces today. Of course, we talked earlier about the limits. GH to this one factor is the current version. This is the looming GH three and this is going to allow us to produce sound in Ah ah. Why different A wide varieties. We've got a handful of different inputs inside here that we're gonna be able to use on a location like we are here inside the studio as well as somewhere else that we but that we need to be right. Well, sound is extremely important. And we think that the quality of sound has every bit as much Do is with the quality of our video. So when we take a look at, like something, for instance, that we just shot here today, we know that we've got a big problem that we've got a conker. Can we use the built in microphones to do something like we did here today? Uh, okay. This is from B for I'm just curious about this is Well, what volume of sales is possible to sustain a reasonable profit for the creator and the recipient? What time? What type of numbers or do we need for our business toe make this happen? Yeah. Yeah. If you're talking about going into some sort of e product. We suggest that you choose any product that fits well for you. Say, for instance, that you sell to dance recitals. Say you're you're a typical photographer that does one specific category, right? There are photographers that just shoot baseball teams that just to dance recitals. There are universal photographers, much like myself, that do the typical family portrait business, right? Also, we've got commercial photographers that have got to sell their own type of products there, too. So when we want to take a look at which types of products were going to sell, that's where it has to get Really picky about what, what equipment we're gonna buy because when we talk about dollars, when we talking about numbers and since we're talking about what tools do we buy to do the right job? Let's say, for instance, that what you wanted to do was e card. Did you have another question that if you wanted to do something like the card pro like I showed you and I'll show you a little bit more than today? That's gonna take some pretty expensive equipment now say you just wanted to do something really simple where you want to do Just basic little pieces of video where you wanted to have your portrait session. And inside that portrait session, you just want to show somebody saying, Oh, hey, Mommy, I love you. Well, that could be done with whatever type of camera that you're looking for. So it does depend on what type of editing tools you want to use is, well, right. So to get into any sort of e card production, you can get in rather inexpensively. We'll talk about the lower end tools, things like an emoto, for instance. There are pieces like Pro Show Web, for instance, that we like a whole lot. There's a standalone version that does a nice piece of editing that's got a lot of templates in it called Pro Show producer. That makes a really nice way to go there, too. So, depending on what type of photography you'd like to do, there are a lot of really easy ways to make whatever product that you want to. All right, thanks, terrific. So well, we do have the video ready toe role. Do you already owe way? Also wanted to let people know that they can go and there's a link right now on the screen to, But you can go and see this as well. It's uploaded at my card dot pro, just just for a 2nd 1 of the things I love to do it. I love to do things in riel time. What's cool about this is that this is the live show, and anything can happen at any time, right? And this crew is skilled. And of course, they know that I'm all over the place anyway. So when it comes to that type of stuff, right, it took a little bit longer to make this piece. I think that's got to do more with us than it does anyone else. But we need to be able to show show our customers as quickly as we can what that final product is. And it's crazy as this sounds. When we talk to Patty Bradley a little bit later, I'm gonna tell you the story of how we're able to take ah 45 $600 sale and turn it into a $1200 sale by shooting to small pieces of video, sliding them right through an auto editing system and having them pop right back out. Everything starts out with the quality ability of a talking portrait. So what I did was today I shot my buddy Lorenzo on a piece of talking portrait. You notice that we didn't use? Well, you probably during their kids in city post processing. Louis, we got to take get your word for it. Did you use any post processing to adjust color or contrast or anything Exposure? None. Theo nly post processing. That was done. Waas you added. And I'm assuming you had had a dissolve to get in and it dissolved to get out. But that's it. And a small vignette. Okay, I wish you would have done the small vignettes. That means you're gonna get a punch. What? We're done right over here. Yeah. So far you have run. Good. Good. Yeah, sure. I like that one leg. So it's really easy to run away from me. Right? Okay, So what you're looking at on your screen is the well where you will be looking up on your screen. Because speed is what's gonna sell this product to your customer. So when you have a sales session when you're shooting babies when you're shooting whatever, you're gonna be shooting your family portrait, then all of a sudden you take dad and Dad is Lorenzo Lorenzo. Tell you why I don't want to take a real quick shot. You want. You just look in the camera. Want to say whatever, whatever. Whatever you're thinking, what you're talking about. That's not a video camera, right? It looks just like does this look at the video camera to you? This doesn't look like a video camera. Teoh to come back to answer your question too. By the way, why don't we use a video camera? We shoot like that because a lot of people get freaked out when they see a video camera, because I think they got to talk to him. Does this look like a video camera? It looked like a video camera, but most people think it looks like a toy, Right? Especially guy might write a guy my size right when I use the Fuji cameras, right? I love little food. You cameras to go look at the guy's got a little toy. Look at somebody. Let's have been Dad's Day. Somebody gave him a little toy, right? This ain't no toy. This is a rock and machine. You know why this is a rocket machine, even on this screen. I'm taking a look at this image right here on this screen, and I'm going to show you just a little bit if you don't mind about how Crockett kind of lights things. And as we work in the class today, I'm gonna have you guys shoot some things. But I'm gonna ask you, please shoot the way that Crockett shoots just for a while. Then later, Go ahead and move on. Here's what I mean. You'll notice that I typically light from the left to the right. Want to know why? Well, that comes from a photographer friend of mine, Mr Mark Hauser, who I pay a lot of tribute to. He's a he's a wonderful guy, has fallen ill a little bit, and he also is just like me is He's left handed. Well, cameras are made for right handed people. You ever notice that we've been discriminated against? Left as left handed people the auto the button to push the cameras on the right side? Well, that means when I need to grab that light and I need to adjust that light just a little bit. I got my left hand right open. Right Next, you'll notice I shot this in black and white. I did it on purpose. Why? Because I don't believe in post processing unless I have to. Later in this course, we're going to call it pre processing and pre processing equals money, and that's what we want to do next. You'll notice. Even though the background are sorry, the foreground goes from left to right. You notice the background goes from right to left. Notice it That's called the Crockett Swirl. We light from left to right. But our background goes the opposite way. But guess what? I only use one light. You saw it. We put it together right here. There's no background light. I want to know something else. That's kind of funny. I shot that It I s 0 2000 I did. I shot it. I s 2000 I used one microphone. I used one low cost battery powered mixer that fits right underneath my camera in order to record that sound. And if you're to hear that sound and please, when you go to my car, not pro slash w slee slash CEO, put some headphones on or plug it into some speakers and I want you to hear that audio quality. Now remember, that's been compressed because it's been compressed because it went into Louis. What did you use to edit that final cut pro? He used final cut pro, so we came out of final cut pro where it was compressed. Then it gets uploaded to my eq r dot probe, where it gets compressed. One more time. By the way, my e card dot Pro is a technological marvel really is. And in fact, somewhere later in this program, we're gonna have a Skype with the guy who actually invented that. His name is Dan Foster, and we owe Dan Foster a big old a big old hand, a big round of applause when we finally see him. Because do you know that when we upload that beautiful picture you there, Mr Lorenzo? It's actually duplicated 19 times, and it it's duplicated 19 times because there's one version that's optimized for a Samsung note. There's one that's optimized for an IPhone 41 for an IPhone five one for a 10 80 television, one for a 7 20 television. That way, when it gets called through the Internet to pick it up and gives you the best possible that there is now, are you connected to the Internet here at this at the at the station, not to the station. I'm actually like own. Okay, so your through your your WiFi right? Okay, And are you able to go to this way? I am. I've had a slight problem. Well, it's because I think what would you hear accretive lives. When we send everybody to a site, it crashes. People have gone there Well, the same time. So guys keep trying, OK? A little bit later. That is, once you get comfortable with the tools that you like and that with and with the way that you want to shoot, you can start developing mawr than just the talking portrait. So all Yes, please. Everything that we do when it comes to making e cards making hybrid is based on the talking portrait, which you just saw. Any questions all about talking portrait before we move on? Yes, indeed we do, sir, please. So I know we're gonna be talking about delivery not only later, but throughout the workshop. But maybe you could just briefly touch on a little bit about delivery. Jazz, Masturah says for the talking portrait's. Does the client need to buy a TV screen? They're asking. How much would you charge for this kind of portrait? Oh, great question. Let's take that one at a time. No, don't buy a television screen. In fact, when the site comes back up, please Jazz ra, if you wouldn't mind, go to that website there. Go to I'm sure that you've put it up on your on your vlog. We'll continue posting it throughout the day in the chat room. You got it during the day. Please. If you would go to that from different screens, right, do a test. This is what I do before I buy any product. Right? Go on. Your your mom's your wife's husband's whatever telephone and then watch their browser and then go Go see what it looks like on that browser. When it's connected to a WiFi right, Then go someplace where it's not connected. Toe wife. I used the three G four g, right. You know, when you look up on your phone, you see little for G up there. Then I want you to go to that same page, and I want you to take a look at that and you'll see what it looks like on there. If you have, Ah, night, an IPad in your house, test it on an IPad and see how it does there. Any screen that can receive the Internet can play that card, and that's the beauty of it. Well, that's actually the first beauty of it. Later, we're going to show you the second beauty of and then that is adding connective ity beyond that, that if you would like at the end of that video for a screen to pop up that says, Click here to wish Lorenzo happy. How old are you? 41. Click here to wish Lorenzo happy 86 birthday. Then it'll send him a little something, something that would be a lot of fun there, too. So that was a great. And I'm so sorry. I forgot the second half of the question, sir. Oh, you know, it has to do with how much you charge for the particular portrait. And I know we're gonna be talking about that, but you've got it. You got it. Let's talk about one of the one of the things that Patty Bradley did the other day. And Patty Bradley is just She's phenomenal. Patty Bradley is a photographer who was in Iowa, and her business in Iowa was shrinking primarily because of Mom's with cameras, primarily because of things like creative life that are educating America on how to be better photographers. And her big studio realized real quick that, Hey, wait a second. Once you get a decent camera in the hands of a person that's got some talent, you've gotta competitors. And you know what? There's nothing wrong with that, and Patty took it like she shouldn't took it, she said. Well, I don't know how much longer I can keep the studio going, because the competition around here is not only beating me on price because they don't have the overhead, but they're good. How do you compete against that you. Don't you come up with a product that's different than unfortunately in mainstream Iowa rural Iowa? They're not really ready for E products yet, right? I'm in Chicago and we're in Seattle here. They're ready for e products. So when we're going to charge for a product, say, for instance, Lorenzo, you came in and you wanted something like that because you say, Say, you've got a brother that's overseas and he's in the military. And you wanted to wish him a happy birthday. And you had you and your family and you're all around. And all you wanted to do is you wanted to be able to say, Hey, Mike, here's the fam. Just want to say we love you. We miss you and be safe over there. We'll see us. What soon as you get back. Okay, brother. Thank you. All right. That would be under our portrait session, so you'd probably come in for a portrait session. Anyway, Our portrait sessions air $799. That includes, typically 1 10 by 10 print. It also includes a gallery, online gallery and on that gallery would be the video for that because he's a soldier. We would probably add it in at no charge on one of those military guys. But let's say that it was something that was gonna pay for that would be an extra $299 is exactly what that would be now if you came in just to buy that. Unfortunately, the way our studio works is every our minimum charge for every hour in our studio is $ no matter what you got to get done. So that doesn't really answer the the question that well, to that person. I'm assuming we'll get to. We'll get to more of it a little bit better there because we don't We don't want to charge $799 for that. That's a lot of money. Wonderful, thank you. What I would love to do is kind of summarize this section. I think people are still because it's so new. People are still trying to wrap their heads around what we're talking about here and what hybrid photography is, including sort of that the platform that you're delivering it on and again, why this is different from doing something that maybe you could just take us the sort of big picture step by step. So we start by, thank you. Taking the video. Thank you. That's that's terrific. All right, here's the Here's the way that we envisioned this four or five years ago. And here's how we put it together. We want people to be able to go and work in what we call a template sized environment. And that doesn't mean that we want to take away the custom part off photography. We don't We want people to be able to see an e card pro, or we're going to show you some of the other pieces here in a second. The trading trading baseball cards, Right. Baseball bat there. All right, we want to be able to show them. Hey, you see that product? Would you like to make that product terrific. You can do that multiple ways. The easiest way to do it would be to go by the e kit, go by the template. We think photographers right now go to their labs, right. I love to go to our lab. We use we should promote labs, but there's a lab that we use that has a bunch of Photoshopped layered templates. So when I need a template for what I needed was a certificate of achievement. So I went and I shot a corporate executive that in a group of corporate executives that got a certificate of achievement. Well, just so happens they had this beautiful, layered file at their at their lab that they give you for free if you get a printed at their lab. I went, I downloaded that I was able to shoot the picture. I slid it into the files of the photo shop layered file, flattened it to a J. Peg, sent that on over to a lab, got the print made and it was beautiful. Terrific. Sold it to the customer, made a profit. We want to do the same thing. So if you go to a website that's still under construction, kinda. But at least they got the right idea. It's called my e template dot com, and that's going to allow you to choose an e template that you're interested in, and you'll be able to buy that. In fact, there are five or six e card already up there that you can buy, so let's Let's put our envision hat on, say, Chris says. All right, will. I'm into the e card pro business. I want to go by two different E card pros. I'm going to go by two different kids. I go to my e template dot pro. I buy kit number one. I buy kit number two there $39 apiece. You open those kits up inside. That kid is ah, sample of what you just bought another photographer shot. Of course, that photographer says it's totally fine for you to go ahead and use that for a sales piece. Go right ahead. Okay, then inside there, there is also the sample files that were used to create that template. Just say, Oh, I get it. This e card needs to photos and two videos, and that's what we're gonna shoot later on Today. We then need to be able to produce the two photos and the two video so that they fit inside this e template. Here's where photographers get hung up, they said, Oh, will. My video camera doesn't shoot a 16 by nine shape. It shoots four by three shape. It's not a mere list cameras, a DSLR it's a different type of shape. Hang on a second. You can crop those. You could crop those files. It's not a problem. Light room for, by the way, does a great job in cropping files. It crops, photo files, it crops, video files. So say you're able to take those two photo and to video files and then upload them to a place like hybrid lab dot pro. They're gonna charge nine bucks. They're gonna edit the photo, the video, the graphics, the music that's already been licensed. And then they're going to give you a couple options. They're going to say, Hey, Chris, Hey, Lorenzo, Tell me what you would like to do with this because right now you've got a video file and you're gonna hear my voice in your head, and that voice is going to be, oh, videophiles, Yeah, we don't want to sell video files that customers. That's not a whole lot of fun. So what I want to do is I want to get a delivery platform that's gonna work Well, later today, I'm going to give you all kinds of different delivery platforms. I'm going to tell you which ones don't work that I'm not too excited about which ones do work that I'm kind of excited about. So what I want to do is I want to take that video file and I put one of put him on a delivery platform. So how would I do it? I would go to my e template dot pro. I'd buy that e card template. I'd open it up. It's got a bunch of instructions in it. It says, Here's what you need to do Here's how you do it. You're taking a put him in a folder You up. You send the whole thing over to hybrid. I'm sorry. Hybrid lab dot pro They edit it. Then they say, What would you like to do with it? You say I already have. Our account was in Folio or I already have account with SmugMug or I already have an account with my e template dot pro, Go ahead and auto upload those whip right up to that. And there you go. There's your delivery system, start to finish. It's very, very simple. Where it gets complicated is how you make it profitable, right? Anybody could be able to pick up here, pick up this camera. Go shoot a piece of video. A piece of audio. In fact, I can show you how to shoot that. What I just did of you, Lorenzo. I can show anybody how to shoot that in less than an hour. Right? But how do you make money with that? Sure, it's a nice piece. How do you make money with it? What happens when you end up with that piece of video? How are you going to sell that piece of video? While I'm not quite sure how we're going to sell that piece of video, we want to be able to put it on a delivery platform so that we can sell that video we wanted to because there's a lot of folks in the chat room who are just joining us, Okay? And maybe missed earlier when we showed an example of the talking card that we played earlier and are wanting to see what the final thing actually look alike. Sure. So I've asked Mike in the back, he's gonna pull it up, and we're gonna We're gonna play it again. Thanks, Mike. Very cool. So tell us again. This is one example of the many, many different products that's called the talking trading card. And it came to be from when I actually do a lot of speaking at PM a photo Manufacturers Association. And those are the guys that do the big volume work when it comes to kids sports. And they're all telling me the same thing they're saying, Will print sales are down and I go, Yep, they are mayor saying It's the economy and I'm saying, I wish I could agree with you but it's not. It's Mom and Mom sees the prints of the little kid in the baseball uniform, and it looks just like a little kid last year in the same baseball uniform. And it's how for her to spend 29 bucks of 39 bucks to buy another one that fits on the fridge. Well, the photographer then says, Well, we've tried making electronic card. We've taken that at that photograph, and then we've put a border around of it, says Chicago Cubs or whatever. And they think that's an electronic card. And then they sell that, and then the mama Dada, they're still not happy with that whole thing. So here goes, Will Crockett saying, Well, hang on a second, you're missing this. What this is is this is your ability t show the kid in his floppy little baseball uniform. But mawr importantly, the most important part about that talking trading card is that kid's voice. Oh my gosh, if I had my son's voice when he was eight years old in his baseball uniform as a dad, I mean, I'm getting choked up about it now. I would melt. I would melt if I had that. That is the product that not only moms would buy but dads are gonna buy. And not only would I buy that of my son, but I would buy that of my niece, and I would buy that of my nephew. And slowly but surely we're seeing industries turn around and start selling this. And in speaking of this, at great risk of getting into huge trouble. One of my projects that I'm working on on a big, nasty nd a a nondisclosure agreement is that there are already companies that have souvenir pictures like, for instance, when you goto Walt Disney right and you get your picture taken with goofy. My client is not Walt Disney. And I'm not talking about while Disney and the slightest when you get your picture taken with goofy, right? Everybody loves that picture. I've got those pictures, my little kids, when they're goofy. Wouldn't it be funny if Goofy had a little dance that he did right there? And then your daughter's this big, and then your daughter's doing the whole But there don't I dance really nice. I do. Right? So you got the whole little dance thing and then all of a sudden wirelessly, because these cameras are WiFi Bill, Been, um, all of a sudden you hit the little button that says, Send whoop. There it goes. It goes over to somewhere else and Disney, And then it gets this beautiful little picture. And then it also has face detection build on their and your face has already been detected. When you come into Disney or wherever you're coming into, it already know. So you are so that when you leave the end of the day, they said, Well, by the way, I got this really cute picture. Your dancer, your daughter dancing with goofy. Would you like to buy it? Would you not like to buy it. Who's not going to buy that? I'm gonna buy that. Okay, So if you could go toe while Disney and you can buy that E product and then you go home and you talk to your local photographer and your local photographer says e products, we don't sell e products. No, we don't do video here. We just take pictures. Thank you. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You got a picture of of right? You got picture the flash with goofy, right when you got a little dance and then you have another picture. She got a photo, a video, a photo. You got music. You got the little broom from the Magic Kingdom. Back and forth. You've got a beautiful memory. Which one do you want? Mawr, Chris, man, you're You want the video? Which one you want? Our? If you're going to spend $29 on either one of those, which one? You're gonna buy video so that when I come back home to my hometown of Aurora, Illinois, and when I want to buy an e product about whatever special events and I can't because all I have of a photo. I'm going to be mad at my photographer. So the people right now that are watching creativelive are learning that this industry is changing. This industry is changing faster than you can ever imagine. You're looking at a guy who's half a photographer, half of a consultant that works with the company that's making those souvenir photos that are going to be Elektronik products instead of printing products. And I can tell you how quick this is coming your way. So please, as boring as I am of a speaker to pay attention to. And as long as this is a three day, would you do me a favor?
