Day 1 - Pre-Show

Good morning and welcome to sparking business growth with Mike McCalla wits here on creativelive. We're happy to have you today. I know. I've been watching some videos and doing my research on my just kind of getting prepped for this workshop. And I'm gonna tell you he's got some pretty exciting stuff to talk about with us this morning and I can't wait to get started. How are you feeling? I'm feeling really good. I'm really excited to. Although I'm not a businessman or entrepreneur, I think some of Mike's techniques are really fascinating. The whole pumpkin approach. It's something I'm not accept discovered before. I'm really looking forward to learning lots more about in the next couple days. Absolutely. Absolutely. I'm Evelyn Danford. This is Jay Ko. We're gonna be your hosts for the next couple of days here with Mike. Before we get started, we are going to do a couple minutes of pre show just to test our audio and video levels. Make sure you jump in those chat rooms. Let us know tha...

t you can see us and hear us. All right. When you dio let us know where you're joining us from, we'd love to give you a shout out. Absolutely. We're gonna have a global audience. I'm sure again today. And of course, in addition to the online audience, we've got a great live audience here in the studio. We're going to be taking part. They're gonna be asking questions, and they're gonna be interacting with Mike as well. So here's an opportunity for them to introduce yourself themselves. And they tell a little bit about what? There's hoping to get out of today's course and we'll start with you. Travis. Good morning. Morning. I'm Travis Rescues. I come from Boulder, Colorado, and I'm a fine artist looking Teoh kind of really have humble confidence so you can find all my work. It t r us kus dot com. Thank you. Hi. I'm Anne Zehren India, known as an Z on. I've been selling on eBay for 15 years and I'm looking to grow my business even further. I saw a lot of consignment items and you can find me on eBay, Anzi and see what do you sell on eBay? Everything. Everything. Everything. I am Jennifer. I'm noticed. June mostly my friends from Sacramento, California, and I own a small photography business with my husband and sister, and I'm looking to take our small business into a full time big, great big business. Terrific. Thank you. And I come from Menlo Park and my business is sprout shell. We make a baby carrier cover, and I am looking forward to getting some ideas to where I can stop spinning my wheels and working super hard and getting no results. So excited Teoh gets, um, you know, ideas to get things going. Great. My name is Debbie Hora, Bitch. I'm here from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and I'm a Google plus hangouts on air producer and consultant for clients. And I'm really looking Teoh, discover the ways to make my my productions in my shows much more large scale and, uh, working with the major media. And I'm Jason Spencer. I'm a wedding master of ceremonies, deejay and efficient. And I'm actually not too far from here in San Jose, California and I think what I'm looking for right now is I come into my down season is finding that next big thing to throw out and all my clients Absolutely Jay ko online. Who's joining us? A lot of people joining us already welcome and let us know where you're calling us from where you're joining us from today on that we will always have a global audience here, a creative life. We've got brute camp. We've got Elliott D. We've got the deejay people joining us already. Lovely. Thank you for joining us. You know, it's great that we have such a versatile audience here in studio, And I know we have a versatile audience at home online as well. What I love to hear from you guys is a little bit more about your background. And we were discussing yesterday what you're most excited to pull from this experience here. In this course with Mike, we all know he's got a lot of knowledge to share with us. But what is that one thing you particularly want to get out of the course, so we'll go ahead and get started with you. Brief background. I was working and fine dining in the kitchens and stuff and I got a really tired of not being able to think for myself. Really. So I went home and I make these crazy paintings and people started to really like him, and I knew from there. That's what I have to do. So I think switching careers like that, it's hard to be perceived as an expert or someone that people trust or something. It's hard to explain, but I'm just trying to get it much growth as possible without having to climb very long. Hard Mountain. Thank you, Thank you. Well, having been on eBay seller before, before that career, I was a professional tennis teacher. And so it's really hard on your body, your using your voice every day you're in front of people. And so I wanted to figure out What can I do with all these old dead tennis balls? So that's where the eBay thing to sort of grew and grew, and then I tell somebody and that they give me things a selling. So right now I'm in the process of trying to prune, as Mike would say, I've seen him a couple times that eBay events prune some of my consignment clients so that I can get the cream of the crop and, you know, sort of get rid of the rest of us alarm here for great. Thank you. Um, I'm a mother of a two year old. I married my high school sweetheart and, um, went to UC Davis and graduated. Had no idea what I wanted to dio supposed to go to law school. And I realized I wanted something more creative and picked up a camera, and we've been doing it ever since. I love it. I love it. What I want to get out of it is we need to be working on the business or not in the business. Absolutely. Um, I never meant to go into business. It just kind of fell in my lap one day. And so I had no idea how to run one what I needed to dio on. And so I've kind of been making it up as they go along. Um and I've had, you know, some coaches and things along the way to help me with that, but I still have not been able to figure out how Teoh break out, I guess. Um, everybody says they love the product, but we just need Teoh break out and get it going because I have three kids. So, finding time Teoh do business is really hard to. So for you, it's about learning how to take it to the next level with your business. Exactly. Great. I'm sure we'll touch on that. Something told me. Um well, for me, I've been obsessed with advertising and media since I was a little kid. I remember playing games with television commercials, my sister. So I went into school for advertising media sales 23 years ago, and I spent 20 years as well, 14 years as the media buyer for Toronto ad agencies. So for me to transition into providing those same clients and those same agencies Google plus hangouts on air consulting and producing services, the challenges that they look at me like a media producer, someone who they know, and their expectation is that I have all of the business elements totally set up, and I know how to run everything about a business. But what I know how to do is what I do really well, which is connect with the people who are in my contact list and provide them value everything else about business. I'm really bad at. I'm great at the marketing. I'm great at the concept and service to the clients, but I struggle with everything else, and that's I think holding me back. I think there's a lot of people out there that can relate. Teoh. I certainly can relate to you, even even when some people might. Other people may say they're great at business. Everybody has that feeling. I'm not so great at this. Learning how toe get everything done. Yeah, I can sympathize with. I think one of my favorite things that I picked up actually out of Mike's book was his chapter on killing the curve. And that's where when I started my visit, I've actually been deejaying and entertaining for about 20 years now. But I started my own business. I'll hit the five year hurdle in January, and when I started, I tapped into somebody else's curved. It was small. Nobody else was really in it. But it's grown to a point where now everybody's trying to be a part of it. And so I need to find the next big thing. I need to create my own curve. And so, uh, Mike has definitely been an inspiration for that promise. I haven't found that curved Well, I mean, I'm sure we'll get there. That's the beauty of the beauty of being here. with Mike Jay Ko. How about online? Do we have anybody speaking up from our online audience? We're still waiting for some people to join us. I know. Actually, Jessie J. Has just been saying she's waiting for her gang to come in the way of people joining us from Bend, Oregon. Good morning, Jonathan. On Peter. John is joining us from South Africa, where he says, it's very hot and this is sparking business. Crow Growth with Mike Michael Oh, it's, I think we're all very excited to bring him to the stage. Our instructor today is a former small business columnist for The Wall Street Journal. He is a segment host for MSNBC's business makeovers, and he's also created and sold to multi $1,000,000 companies and is currently operating his third. Mr. Mike my Colloids. Let's bring you up on the stage. Thank you. So excited to have you here. I told you yesterday I'm watching these videos and like, man, he's got some stuff I can't say on camera what you said to me about my videos. Here's a crazy stuff. I'm pumped to be here and Travis, and you're talking like I'm starting to choke up already. Entrepreneurship is about humble. Confidence is about self expression. We're gonna tackle that today. And we're all talking like, Why don't we start a wedding business here? We have a photographer. Amazing gifts we have when the baby comes were set. We could roast on Google. Hang out. Would you have a rock assembly of, like, the family? Many years? D. J Let me let you take this away. I know you've got a lot to talk about it. Thank you.

I was a part of the live audience, so I had a little extra business growth behind the scenes. If you ever have a chance to attend a live broadcast, I highly encourage it. This program follows the concepts of Mike's book "The Pumpkin Plan" very closely, but it's the expanded elements that make it worth every penny. I pulled quite a few business ideas and nuggets that I still use nearly a year later. Even owning the course, I took over 17 pages of detailed notes. Gaining a solid understanding of Immutable Laws, Pruning, UPOD, and so much more helps you from day one. But it's much more than that, because you can create a system that allows you to almost grow on auto-pilot and build profit along the way (the Profit First segment was one of my favorites because I'd already been doing some of it). It you own a business, you can't go wrong with this course in your arsenal of tips and tools.
