Final Thoughts and New Projects

So let's just talk a little bit about the future. You know, it's funny. We're doing this workshop and doing everything on the cutting edge of technology right now. And in six months or four months. Five months, 6 April, Whatever it is, a Rob is going back. Final cuts gonna change by then, so it's always important. It will. Hopefully, it's always important to just keep up with all the technology. Visual imagery is so so fast and taking leaps and bounds. Four. K resolution. And you know, if you're working with the red camera, the better dynamic range you can get with these newer cameras. Things are changing so fast. And really, you do want to keep up on that. Um, what I always like to say to mention we're photographers, we see the difference in visual imagery. We want all the toys. However, what does your client see? What does your client need? So whenever Rob and I are thinking about something to upgrade, you know, we say to ourselves, Yes, we want it, obviously. But is this something t...

hat's going to better my business and it is it something that is going to really improve my client satisfaction. If it's not, it might not be a wise business decision. So always stay updated with all the future things that are coming out. The new cameras. But keep in mind what is your client gonna get a benefit, right? No, no. Nobody's asking me for four K resolution Nobody's asking for And nobody is saying, Well, you know, I want to see this other videographer and his dynamic range right business to make money. I want to do good work, but I'm not gonna go spend $16,000 on a camera body. Better dynamic range. It's just acid as much as we love it. Yeah, it would be fantastic. And I see the guys who do shoot with it, and it's like, Wow, that's sharp. That's really sharp. But the client doesn't know this. I mean, I don't know if you guys planning on going out and buying a C anytime soon, right? So I mean, yeah, like I said before, like the mark threes. But I'm not gonna go make a $10,000 investment. I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna go by the next the next generation camera, so save our money to do that. The good news out of all this. The technology is changing. But the storytelling doesn't are his oldest time. Yes, that doesn't change. You know, I used to sit around campfires or sit around the fire and tell stories. And this masters Or apparently, I'm not one of them orators speaking. Tell a great story. You know, we're doing that visually. I mean, what is a lot of talk, others out there that say, like, what is it? It's not about the equipment used. It's how you use it. All right? You're never gonna walk up to a chef and be like, Wow, that was really great. If it must have an awesome stove, No. Has great knives use right. So don't don't feel, don't get equipment. And if you use your equipment correctly, I would say, like if you are going to invest money in two places, it would be audio and lenses. Glass is really important. Glass will equal clarity. What about what do you guys think? Anybody have any other suggestions for anybody out there who might sort of, you know what? What else would equal a good film or equipment lives? What would be computed the soy Mugesera. What is your number? One must have cannot leave to do a job. That and obviously your camera, memory cards and batteries way go around there. What's like your must have a thing that you absolutely love used the most. However, you want to put that I love my mom NEPAD and the mark three because of the the higher I s O So we're able to shoot in low light and you know tripods two Very important. You know, toe be able Teoh, you know, a tilt and pan without having little jerks, and they're going to make a huge difference. I was safe a Tasha, and I kind of counter that we're not counter, but I will agree with VJ There's you gotta have try about Yeah, you want to have a steady shot and I think even set that on a day one. And I totally agree with you and then besides, that way have tohave are off camera lights. Yeah, because when the reception rolls around, you want to make sure you know it. So those two things are probably key for Tasha. Anna, what lights you guys use. All right, Now we're just using, like, like light panels and stuff. Okay? We want to get, like those off. Yeah, we are. But also because we do seem to and it's fast Computer. Yeah, especially were on still on seven store progressing still. And, you know, I'm really kind of getting out of all this, too. Is a lot of you have different priorities from your stabilization getting clean image, your you know, region, same day. Edits your party. Definitely needs to be a fast system. So, you know, don't get totally feel bogged down and daunted. I was in the lounge yesterday. I heard today in on, um we were talking about equipment on day one. A lot of people like you have all this money to buy all this stuff. Yes, absolutely. You know, we didn't buy all this stuff yesterday. You know, it took five years to really closer toe seven. Really? With all the equipment that we have, you know, these air slow things new slowly purchase. So pick your priorities were something the same mark to body that you bought in 2008. Can I first came out? So what does it have to be a question. I just kind of, you know, you like Go ahead. No, this is a big compliment to Robin, Vanessa, because most people don't know that that I've known them for over 33 or four years, and Vanessa gave me my start. My one of my best friends was getting married. She was a wedding photographer. I came along for the engagement shoot. She saw my my pictures in my video that I put together, and she gave me a huge compliment that said, You know, have you ever thought about being a wedding photographer and that kind of changed? Um, the scope of man getting emotional said I wasn't gonna cry like we're on. No, but so she gave me this huge compliment That kind of started me towards my business. And when I met Rob, he also gave me some compliments and just to be here and I got to shoot with Rob. I mean, we only really pressed but think still kind accounts. Sorry, but it's been great and just, you know, and I still continue to learn from them, and that's why I'm here. And it's just it's just fantastic. So I don't know that's that's really that's really talk from the rap tog Refer. Thank you so much. I do want to ask one final question. Thank you. And that came from Alan Maria a little bit earlier. You guys are so clearly both of you so passionate about what you do. And she had asked, Do you get emotionally involved when you do your editing or just in general, through this whole process, how do you get emotionally involved with your clients? And how do you do you have to separate that out or just talk a little bit about Yeah, you Honestly, I know my edits are solid When I tear up, I I'm a softy in that respect. I like to see happy couples, you know, I like to see and it's so bad, it's sometimes best I will go. Oh, yeah, that I couldn't make it. Not that they're not gonna make a bit. This is the way they're redus. Well, we do personally invest, you know, we support marriage and we love marriage. And that's why we love doing weddings. And for probably a very silly thought is that you know they're bringing divorce and look at their winning film photos and change their minds like and we've seen our client with had clients that divorce and that kind of stuff really breaks our hearts. What Robin I've actually decided to do is invest in our clients, and when they book us, we give them kind of like a marriage prep book called 10 Great Dates before you say I dio because we want to give them great memories. But if I could give them anything, I'd rather give them a great marriage. So, yeah, we're definitely emotionally invested. It is nice and and from an emotional sample and because we are emotionally invested in that way, we put our own, you know, love for marriage into the work. And you know what? I want the film to be emotional. I really want to be to make that I love. When I got the email, the email of the night that they see the wedding is just like I'm like, we're making dinner at home and I'm just, like, read that. It's just a great feeling, and it's not even so much my own ego. It just it just it's good. It means we're doing the right thing means we're affecting people's lives. That's good. Awesome. Thank you. All right, So the last thing we want to just talk to you about and leave you with you guys have been looking at or wedding stuff for a while now. And Rob is actually found a new passion to adventuring into different things, one of them being commercial work and the other being a promotional films for photographers. And Rob has just really thrived on finding just a new way or a new genre of visual industry in a new way. Teoh express his creativity and we just wanted to share with you the most. We're one of the most recent photographer promo videos that we have, and I think if we go to rob screen, we can show it. Or in the tech booth, they may already have this video. You have it there so we'll just wait there. We go through. This is a photographer's based on New York City came to me one day and he says, Look, I wanted to look a personality piece on myself. I just want to do something that's like it just talks about who I am as a person and what I love about photography, and I was like, OK, I didn't want to do like all these other photographer problems have seen that are like my name's John. I'm a wedding photographer and it's just like out in the field and shooting the shooting issued and you see the picture way some of that in here, But I don't know. I just want it. I want to keep it really short. I said, I will do it for you. It ain't gonna be more than two minutes because I just wanted it to be simple and it's nothing too spectacular production wise. But it is just something I like to do personality pieces on people. So this is sort of what we did for me. It's It's always been about the light, the way the first things I think about when I wake up in the morning view, things in ah, highly shadow world fall off the highway shadow. It's always intriguing. I want to see more of that one to create onto sculpted way, go through life, pass you by. I always take time. I observed things most people long. It's all about balancing light expression. See in the late. That's something most known for working with talent agencies, dancers and choreographers. reported myself, subject one Very I will take care of you. I promise a problem. A group of 150 people all at once or just one spotlight solo dancer trying to get the next big on broader. It's really about connecting with one. For me. Light has always been at the core of my photography. It's my life, and I'm looking enoughto have the opportunity to keep doing it every day. Allege I love what I do. So just a short personality piece. I just wanted to kind of give something that was just different than another promotes I've seen anyway, you know, I know we've been lucky and fortunate. We've been brought out to several places to do other ones. And we did one for a couple of husband, wife, photographer out in Wisconsin, who they adopt, they rescue animals. We made it all about that. You know the photographers, but they rescue animals and they use their photography too. Help the pets get adopted by taking awesome photos of them. I thought that was so cool. Like I'm focusing on that. That's what I want is that it's on their photography. Alexa Natalie nelson dot com believe. Yeah, so that's what we're doing. And you know, I love doing wedding films, but I'm always looking for opportunities to do other things as well. And that's I mean, that's it. That's kind of like the future for me. I don't want to do 50 or so weddings a year. I want to keep it more boutique style and do you know a lot of destination? I like to travel, so I want to try to get more into destination weddings, but that's pretty much it.
