so moving along so now okay we've booked to this client hopefully at this point we book some clients so now managing the client and maintaining the relationship is absolutely so they can have ah four step process and it's like I had mentioned earlier with the relationship with the spouse you don't just get married and you're done or you don't just started dating and you're done you know you need to maintain that relationship and these are this is something that's really key if you want your client to feel really good about you and the thing to remember is bride's no other brides so right now the bride that you just book she's in those bridal chat room she's in those forms she's going through magazines she's chatting with all our friends about our wedding planning and what's the biggest thing that you want talking about huge but if you're not doing anything for her why would she talk about him so we want them to get us talking about us now so we have a four step process that highlights ...

um key points of things that we do so the first one is we want to affirm the decision oftentimes the brightest spending a decent amount of money on us and we want you don't want them to be like oh was that a good decisions I want immediately come to them and be like yeah you made a great decision so what we do is at the end of the year we goto bath and body works and we kind of stock up on all of their cute little like package things that they always have together for christmas and we have this in our office and we have a tissue paper and we have our boxes and we have all of our letters ready to go so whatever we book a client we put all of that stuff together and then we send them that box a hand written note just saying sarah and john were so excited that we booked your wedding we can't wait sarah we know this time could be a little bit stressful make sure you just relax and have fun will be in touch about further details just relax and let us know if you need anything and so they get this package in the mail how rare is it to actually get something in the mail nowadays and handwritten it's huge and so we've had so many clients come back to us and be like thank you but I get it it was so thoughtful I didn't expect it and that's huge in relationships is going out of your way and doing things that people don't expect you to do nor do you even have to do they didn't sign a contract and it said I'd better get my package a week afterwards with my sylvie bubbles you know I'm gonna check they're not expecting it so it's a bonus and when they get it they go man so thoughtful wasn't really nice for them for us it's a system at this point it's part of our system but we do it because we care we want the bride to relax we want her to enjoy herself and now she goes man zach and jodi just went up a notch you know they just they're even cooler than they were before hopefully at this point is what they're thinking and we really want to under promise and over deliver and zach head on that so there anything you remember from today under promise overto over deliver the things that we're talking about if we had written those in our contract they would not have had that same effect they have been like where's my package where's the dinner you're going to treat me to you know like it wouldn't have the same effect so we want to surprise them keep them on their toes and keep them talking about step number two is we want to engage with our clients during this process between booking and the wedding so we do that by one shooting the session we want to shoot any session it's very very important um we really learned this from kevin swan as well who is like if they're going to spend a thousand bucks to buy the engagement session awesome if I have to finagle them t to buy it I'm gonna do it or I have to give it to him as a gift I'm gonna do it because this is unbelievably great time to get together and add value to both of our relationships so join me and I realize the same things as much as humanly possible we get out and she didn't engagement session for our clients and our number one priority in an engagement session is not to take good images of course that's important too taken images but they got the number one priority they should expect that the number one priority is to have an amazing time because they show up to engagement session and we think this is a casual portrait session that should be a piece of cake and they've been thinking about what the what the guy's been thinking about what he's gonna wear like when he starts saying he's gonna wear he's nervous and they've been all day like they're coming over and they show up and they're just like what do I do with my hands that's all they're thinking about what I do I don't know what to do and I'm gonna look good I'm gonna look ugly that's what they're thinking about so johnny and I shop we've got our cameras in the car usually we meet them somewhere on location were at their house or where we're shooting or our house got the cameras put away they come over like hey it's so good to see you guys again we're so stoked you purposely build thirty minutes in the engage in session for chill hang out talk we're like all we're so excited we can't wait to hang out with you guys what you've been up to chit chat and they're going on their kind of let their guard down this's this isn't so tough and then we tell him so what this engage in session the only thing that matters is you guys just have fun together this is so laid back the wedding day we're gonna move a little quicker but this is going to be so laid back it's going to be so easy you're gonna think nothing happened that's going on in their life I like easy I like simple way potentially put on very long lenses and we say you guys know howto walk right there like yes emilie walk and look at each other just like we did on our wedding day we do that with them on the engage in session so they're walking and smiling and they go oh this is easy and all the whole day is about their comfort level and we know if they're comfortable and relax like we saw from the winner of the show a subscription the bride and groom were together they put their faces the other smiling they were obviously very comfortable with target she got to that point by the relationship not by she's has some magic thing she says and she's got a funny sentence written on the front of the lens that makes them laugh or something crazy and we always sell our couples that we loved to go out for dinner with them and if you don't have it in your budget don't think that all my word I need to treat them too like a five star dinner take them out for ice cream out for coffee is something very simple it doesn't have to be big and extravagant so we try and catch dinner with our couples because it's like a double day and then we always sneak the bill we always find a way to pay for it and I from david j what david j does he's got it credit card in his hand while he's holding the menu and looking at it and there was a heaven maybe kevin swan and he's like talking like this to the waiter and he's like yes and they see the card here and then he hands them the menu and they go and then they come back and the bills paid you know whether it's coffee or dinner you know we like to do dinner because it's a little nicer paying the building we don't have to do that and we go hey you guys have done enough for us like we're here for you we're excited you're excited teo bless you guys and they're like all that's really cool and then during dinner we're actually very strategic we're during dinner weren't purposefully asking personalized questions that we can use to follow up with the other little gifts if we want to so we're like so where was you guys this first date they think all we went to j alexander's which is this great restaurant and oh man it was such a great time in the back of our heads we're going let's get them a gift certificate to jail for twenty five bucks for a surprise we'll send it to him go hey I remember you guys mentioned you love j alexander's go there three weeks before your wedding and remember this is all about you two when they get that they're gonna go yeah and these guys were really listening so we just collect different pieces of information on the man you're remembering it and then we go home and we write it down so we don't forget so if you want you can utilize that later throughout the process because sometimes it's nine months until you're shooting their wedding so you can utilize that throughout the process to stay on their minds these are the ways thatyou supercharge a client get them super exciting
