Sunset Shoot

so what we're gonna do is kind of a demo flash out the sun is about ten or fifteen minutes from sunset we have this really nice subtle sky behind the bride but the problem is you know we've got this beautiful sky but is back here in the sun is setting in the same place and we shoot natural light the only thing we could do is put the bride's back to it which means her face is going to get dark so then if we expose for her face and try to get a blue sky it's impossible we could add a reflector and maybe balance them a little bit but that's about all you khun dio we instead of wanna bust out our off camera light and do something super dramatic super powerful so we have as you can see if you got a pan the camera over this way we've got our amazing assistant stacy give it overseas yeah we'll give you a twitter handle one minute she's holding are off camera light around the other way she's holding the ellen chrome quadra which is our six pound power packets of four hundred watts second head ...

and if you look at the head here notice it's tiny it weighs a half a pound less than a speed light so we carry this toe weddings that comes with you can buy this little adapter called the ark you adapter and then you can put rock star soft boxes like the ellen chrome rhoda lux um this is a thirty nine inch octo bank and what an octa bank does is it produces window light to die for it's absolutely amazing so what we're gonna have our amazing assistant state's you do we're going to do some dramatic lighting we're going to go forty five degrees with it really far off to the side we're gonna bring it nice and high so the center's above the eyes we're gonna lean it in and we're going to balance this light so we can kick the background not just into balance but make it dark dramatic and moody the problem is there still a lot of brightness in the sky so we mean it out the sky and the skies and about f eight at s o fifty at one one hundredth of a second so we don't want to shoot an faa we want to shoot it to eight so we talked about this earlier we have this really cool seventy two millimeter um it's a neutral density filter this is a three stop neutral density filter what this does is if I set up my camera and I meet her this and we mean it it right here like this which I'm going to do in a second and it comes out of f ate well I can put this on and go from faa although we don't have two point eight and get the exact same exposure so now I'm shooting at a shallow depth of field while I'm getting this beautiful blue sky using a very high powered strobe and it looks rockstar cool in which you'll see in a second so we're going to go ahead and meet her this out really quick er with our amazing model lauren and make sure we're in the right vicinity which already checked the sky and the sky's metered at f eight s o fifty one one hundredth of a second so we just need our flash to a similar brightness so I'm actually going to jodie if you can actually hit my trigger because I can't bring my camera quite this far out someone have jodi trigger the flash hang on I think it might be off your president got excited everyone got excited so at f eight s o fifty one one hundredth of a second so now all I have to do let's crank up my shutter speed a one two hundred the backgrounds gonna get nice and dark I'm gonna have you a little bit higher with the light just like that let's do kind of not one where you're looking up like this little straighter onto the camera yeah a little more angle like that back the whip back this way like you were on the chin up yeah that's awesome somebody pull back here and have her get really dramatic because she looks amazing when she's dramatic we're gonna go ahead and take a shot and it should be coming to the screen as we speak let's see what we got wow absolutely freaking amazing so yeah let's do one looking right here at me like that super cool my dear oh my gosh look some hazing so let's do a couple more yeah looking looking up with the light like that again super cool so we're getting some horizontal looks absolutely fantastic let's do that again focus here hang on looking right here my dear face more towards the light super freaking cool so that time we all I did was I purposely put some condensation on the lens so that we get sort of this smoky shooting through the smoke effect it looks like the you know all the mist is rising up or something like that so now let's just do one more have you looking right here at the camera and kind of the coat real close to your face yeah hands close to the face like that that's cool super cool I'm gonna come and close for one yeah awesome yeah and then one more super cool then looking right yeah just just like that body this way face that way when your body this way even more face that we even more yeah kind of turning your body that way perfect and then face back towards the light chin up just a little one more of those just like that that was amazing see if we can focus your hang huh it's so hard to focus when you we've been all over your lens stop on ning all right one more straight towards the camera and just kind of like yeah but shitfaced mimic mind this way yeah we'll go the other way you look great with light and a little more sixteen super freaking cool that we're gonna do one with the wide angle lens really fast I saw your new one why it's a scoop for just a touch and back up just a little bit little more perfect back up just a tiny bit more yeah I'm good we got it so give me something really dramatic yeah looking over towards the light well with I got really bright for some reason back up just a tiny bit more person guy one more my dear that's great oh that's why I was like why did it get so bright because I don't have my neutral density so when I took the neutral density filter off I let three times more light in and you have to put it back on which actually I don't think it fits it doesn't fit on this lens that's fine so I've got I just put my f stop back up to f ate so we'll do that for one more one more shot comeback clothes were right there right there and then bring it down perfect down a little more awesome super cool my dear you rock my world awesome you notice a matte shot I actually was so wide I caught the flashing it which is cool I'd rather crop that out slightly and have that super soft beautiful light on her awesome amazing let's do one more with the eighty five to kind of end on neutral density filters on todo eso we're gonna be one more thank you very much let's actually do one of the groom really quick let's have him hop in there so if you want to hop out my dear we always like to do a nice cool rock star portrait of each of the bridegroom's to stand right in the middle former korean scoop for justice coach and they just hand in the pocket kind of yeah looking mean and then let's move the life way further to the side I purposely liketo like grooms way fromthe right because it makes them look super masculine alright so here we go yeah you that's freaking mean love it you did oh my gosh and in one straight straight this way yeah way did you sew on that right now and then one more randy a little too much last one and then one looking away that way for me super cool bro chin down a little perfect awesome all right sweet do you have questions I'm sure we do I think we'll just end on that note I should get you e all right well my goodness what an amazing hyundai teo are you so jazzed shot happened so ordinance thank you are my you're way so we just want to remind everyone that that there is a three day workshop and it's one hundred forty nine dollars but this weekend if you sign up before ends it's only ninety nine dollars and what's amazing about that is the big wedding season for the year is about to begin for everyone and so these are tips and these air rules that we all needed our handbooks for the whole you know fresh wedding
