## Overview

You need coding practice as well as a portfolio of work to show prospective employers or clients. In this class, you will learn how to take a website design and code it yourself, with guidance from your instructor.

Git tracks the changes you make to files so you have a record of what has been done, and you can revert to specific versions whenever you need to. Git also makes collaboration easier by allowing changes from multiple contributors to be merged into one source. It is an important skill for any coder to have.

Git can seem mysterious at first, in part because many people use the command line to run it. Instead of terminal commands, you will learn how to use Git within Visual Studio Code, the popular free code editor. This makes the process much easier and more approachable.

We will demystify Git and explain the typical workflows you will encounter, covering the most commonly used features to get you up and running quickly.

Did you know there are faster and easier ways to code? If you are not using Emmet (coding shortcuts) and Visual Studio Code's keystrokes and helpful features, you should be. These tools can greatly speed up your coding with less typing, and every web developer needs to know them.
