About The Class

Explore the world of high dynamic range

Join Serge Ramelli as he shows how to get the entire dynamic range of a photo without an HDR look that is overly popular or hated. Serge will show how to use Adobe® Photoshop® simple layers to blend different exposures and get the best out of each image. He'll walk through the new HDR function in camera or Adobe® Lightroom® to blend all 3 exposures as well as Aurora HDR, a great software to make successful HDR images.

Software Used: Adobe Photoshop CC 2017, Adobe Lightroom CC 2015

This was a good course if you want to know how to improve your photos using post processing features in software. He does show you how to combine a HDR but that is all. Very little how to take the HDR photos and what to look for in the photos when taking them. There was only about 10% HDR. The tips on how to bring a photo to life was good, but I was hoping that the HDR was more covered since that is what it was about. So I recommend it only because of there is good information on post process, not about HDR.

Not crazy about this class. The shots he uses are OK but he basically repeats him self living a lot of information out. He does not talk about HDR made from one single frame. He does not go over B&W HDR. He does not speak about the shooting process to do HDR (Tripods, Shooting connected to a computer, shooting with different exposure variations, HDR specific applications, etc). His humor is not good enough to be as present as it is in this video, and the use of certain tools is very clumsy like erasing people from a castle photo and the sky replacement on the cave shoot. I had my hopes up for a class like the one of Mike Kelley on Architectural Photo Workflow. Thumbs up for Creative Live on having so many options of classes on Photoshop and Photo editing in general but I would say skip this one.

It's a good, informative class but.... there's nothing about Aurora HDR as advertised. Serge works through combining bracketed images using the HDR function in Camera Raw. Since he works without presets, you can see the development of the completed work much more clearly than when using a dedicated HDR software
