I generally don't write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this instance. This class should be retitled 'Sue Bryce - All About Me!'. Throughout the entire syllabus, her condescending, dismissive and overbearing attitude is painful to watch! Felix is an extremely talented and successful commercial photographer and yet she constantly treats him like he's "second guy on the left". She actually seems resentful every time he tries to interject through her perpetual chorus of "I want, I need, I want". Unsurprisingly, her condescension is also pervasive, when she's directing the model, Cassidy. (At least she's consistent.) She seems to think that repeated exclamations of "Good Girl" are somehow affirming and uplifting for an adult female. Look at Cassidy's body language, and you'll see she definitely doesn't think so and nor do I. If you close your eyes and just listen to the audio, you'd swear Sue is training a puppy.! Sue is clearly an expert in posing, but she continuously manipulates Cassidy like she's a rag-doll - something a male photographer could not, and should not, do in the same circumstances. Consequently, it would have been lovely if Sue had considered both genders and provided some more distinct training on verbal direction and mirroring. When Keena, one of the most likeable and respected moderators on Creative Live, asks if the photographers can oblige members of the Internet audience by stopping to review a batch of images, Felix starts to comply. Predictably, Sue completely ignores the request and starts babbling on about executing her vision for a pose she saw in a campaign for Vera Wang. At that point, I wanted to reach into the screen! I have the highest respect for both Sue and Felix as photographic artists, but Sue's behaviour throughout this entire presentation is so egregious that it actually impeded my ability to learn. This lady is super-talented, but she clearly doesn't play well with others. That's pretty ironic for an educator who focuses heavily on the teaching of "Self-Value". It might be a good idea if she took a refresher course on "The Value of Others". Unless you have a raging predilection for creating photographic dictatorships, I would definitely NOT recommend this class. P.S. Both Felix and Cassidy deserve a 21-Gun-Salute for enduring this oppressive experience with such good humour.

Sue Bryce has what my Thai friends would call a teacher's heart. It is hard to translate but basically means caring, deeply knowledgable, dedicated to constant improvement and possessing the ability to present to students in an easily understandable and accessible manner. "Near enough" is never "good enough'. In a word she is a professional. This course is highly recommended for developing a framework for photographers to work from. Sue Bryce also has many additional pieces of inspirational advice along the way in terms of styling and costume. A talented teacher who presents practical steps that can easily be adopted by others. Impressive!
