Helpful information, however says "um/uh" waaaay too much, which gets difficult to listen to.
-
This is GREAT, especially for ppl new to Graphic Design. Tim is a natural teacher.
-
Thank you Timothy for an insightful, study in graphic design. Very informative and helpful.
-
As someone beginning their journey into graphic design, starting with the "Getting Started" lesson (as the name implies...) I was easily able to understand how everything he is saying can be practically applied. To anyone looking where to begin I can't imagine a better lesson to JUMPSTART your journey whether it be for professional application or as a hobby. These lessons will be in my toolbox to reference for a long time to come I'm sure, Thanks Tim!

Excellent! I will never look at typeface and daily examples of typography design the same way again! Brilliant teacher who animates the 'deliciousness of an optimal text setting experience' in such a hilarious and engaging manner.

Insightful

This was an amazing class! If you have any interest in typography or graphic design, you cannot go wrong with taking Timothy Samara's class on typography. Not only is it highly informative, but Timothy is also very entertaining (yes, in a class on typography!).
-
Wonderful class. I have a much better understanding of how to use text in my work. I will be revisiting this class, I am sure! Highly recommend it.
-
Great information- very helpful for a beginner trying to grasp the basics.

Thank you

All courses in Graphic Design from Timothy are just great! Thank you
-
Just loved it!! Great intro with great examples!
-
A great start to the journey! Loved being able to see the work process of different types of work spaces.
-
It's a fantastic course. I learnt a lot about color. it's just a pity the slides aren't available to print!
-
More of a seminar or s quick workshop than an actual class. I did enjoy it and did get some great information out it.
-
Helpful balance of fundamentals and detailed case studies.
-
I recommend this teacher and course over other graphic design courses on creativelive. He's clearly passionate about graphic design. He clearly knows his stuff and more importantly knows how to teach it well. I would look past his speech quirks and focus on the wealth of knowledge and experience he is delivering to you.
-
I thought the information was well presented and relevant. I’m researching graphic design as a possible career change- this gave me a great understanding of the fundamentals. If you are new to graphic design it is a great course.

this is an outstanding insight into what it takes to work on the field of graphic design, not just for the profitability of it but for the sake of applying fundamental notions of visual communication, connecting the end (the actual design for a client) with the means (the tools you gotta make use of as a designer). it is not a class with exercises, but rather a selection of key notions and examples of a well versed designer. it is also not a quick guide of graphic design but rather an immersive talk for those who would like to understand what really goes on in the backstage of it.
-
This course is excellent. As some other reviewers noted, the speaker had a lot of ums at the beginning but he clearly knows his stuff. As the course progresses his passion comes through. I like how we walks through various projects he's done and describes what his process was. I will look for other courses by him.

I've studied color in various ways (for both graphics and painting) for 15 years and I can recognize this is really good information. That said, it's only a high-level overview; it's not meant to teach you everything you know, but rather cover the highlights only of color theory. It's still a good class. Timothy is a great lecturer, but this is not a hands-on deep dive, which would take hours, if not days.

I am a big fan of Tim since I started reading his books long back. Its good to see himself teaching, though its a video. This course made things more clearer about concepts and image making. Thank.

this was an amazing

This is a fantastic course. The instructor is well-versed in the topics covered. His immense experience shows in the examples he gives.

I wish there was a neutral option for the grading of this course. I for one, did some research about the subject, and read Sean Adams book; I would say that some of the content at the beginning feels erroneous. For instance, the course says RYB are the primary colors.. but actually they are only, in the world of artists using paint ink printing etc and is not necessarily scientifically proven to be the primary colors when it comes to our eye perception (scientist video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hbxy1W9O_Wk), but RGB is closer which is why TV CAmeras and anything electronic uses the RGB system. ( additive system/red green and blue). heres is a video which actually make the experiment with light (*also RYB/CMY (substractive) system red yellow and blue produces black not white ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZ-mEddsYqo ------- 2. There is not explanation has to how to interchange or use the different colours in RGB RYB and CMY modes which I think is important if like me, you work with different media. Besides that, I appreciate the rest of the content although it became a bit confusing at rare times with the saturation and value explanation.
