Photoshop for Photographers: The Essentials with Ben Willmore

Don't be put off by the title 'Essentials' cause it does cover a huge amount of subjects. By the way ... I've never seen 'Curves' so well explained as Ben does over here. Love the way he teaches. Highly recommended!!

Ben explained perfectly how to use the settings, but even more important- when to use them. I'm using photoshop every day and still learnt so much! very recommended

Ben did a fine job with his Photoshop overview. He was asked if it was possible to hide tools on the toolbar. He replied, "Not that I now." It's easy to adjust the toolbar. Right click on the three dots on the toolbar. There is an option to edit the toolbar. You can combine items, remove them, and/or add them. Then save your toolbar as a preset. I used it to shorten down my toolbar to the essentials I use and regroup items that is more intuitive for me.

Ben is a great instructor. He takes the time to thoroughly explain concepts and procedures. As someone who knows very little about Photoshop, I found his lessons easy to absorb. You will learn valuable tips and processes that will undoubtedly come in handy.

So helpful! I worked with photoshop for about 12 months before taking this course and it was a struggle! But now, things make so much more sense. Thank you for such clear explanations and great examples. This course was just what I needed.

I'm only on my first lesson, and have learned so much. He explains things so easily, and doesn't complicate his explanations. I've never heard of this guy before, but I'm so glad I came across this class.

Ben is a master at presenting material. He explains what you will learn, demonstrates it and follows up with a recap of what you have learned.

This course starts slow, but as it is aimed at all levels it needs to include novice users. Being a "novice" long term user, I found it a little too slow to start with, going over the basics, but as it developed Ben told me secrets that I did not know about Raw/Light Room. These secrets will save me loads of time, as I will no longer need to transfer to PS to mask and fix images. If you are already a user, hang in there, and work through the modules, If you are a novice pay attention as these secrets will save you loads of time. A Great Resource!

I have participated in other Ps classes both on the net and live seminars and this class is by far the best Ps class I have ever attended. Ben does a great job explaining Ps concepts and is masterful at demonstrating them. If you are new to Ps then this should be and will be your first and last Ps class! Another Creative Live hit!!

Excellent class, the best photoshopclass I did!

So much information I haved to watch it a few times to get all the concepts down. It is a bigginners handbook. I love that it start with lightroom! I found that the most helpful

This provided me with the knowledge to use tools that I have not figured out. His teaching style is complete and he stays on topic, so I know that I am not wasting time. I really loved the technique in Layers to outline signatures as this is something I've tried but never got it right. I also found techniques in his advanced class that helped me complete a project that I've been unable to execute. I'm big on getting a return on my investment and I get that from Ben's classes. Thank you!

This was definitely the best investment I've made to learn Photoshop. I've tried with books before but that didn't work very well. Ben's class is easy to follow and very informative. I've learned so much and I'll be going back to it often. I think I will finally be able to use Photoshop as it was meant to be used. Thanks Ben and Creative Live!!!

Hello Ben and Creative Live , I do really love the way Ben teaching method . Simple and clearly instructed. I always think photoshop is the another different world that far away from me. Question to Creative Live or Ben - I am using Photoshop CC and how do I get or install action pack that Ben and Jerry mentioned on this course. Ben were saying that action packed preset 50 of them . This is the first time I did a course from Ben Willmore. I like his teaching skills, the way he structures his content and the excellent samples he is using. I learned a lot, not especially new Photoshop features but how to use them better. I will certainly subscribe to new courses from Ben and CreativeLive. The only remark I would have is about the usage of Adobe Bridge - why not leverage Adobe Lightroom, that would be much more useful for the students.

Hi. Ben is a great teacher!!! He does a fantastic job explaining with all the detail. I really enjoyed the course and I'm ready for Beyond the Basics. I use lightroom and never had taken the step forward to go into photoshop after working my images on lr. Now I have the knowledge to do that. I really recommend this course.

Best course I have ever had the opportunity to take. Ben as an Instructor is just super. A course like this in at the local college would cost 3 or 4 times CreativeLive price. Nice thing, is you can go back and review the material any time you wish.

Hands down the best course I have taken. Informative, logical flow to Ben's teaching. I found the notes immediately helpful as well as replaying the videos. Far more information than should be possible to cram into one workshop!

This is one of the best courses I've taken on any topic, not just PS or photography. Ben is a fantastic instructor. He introduces a new concept and then reinforces it with great examples and with well done repetition of key points along the way. Really really impressive. He does a super job of finding analogies to explain the concepts that underpin key parts of PS (e.g. comparing curves to a series of dimmer switches) and also teaching tons of super useful keyboard shortcuts in the midst of showing larger processes. Excellent.

Hurray for Karen and the detailed notes! I understand now why it took awhile to get them together and up on the lesson page. A superb job. Ben teaches well and Karen's notes finish the job superbly. -- And the collection of keyboards shortcuts? I'm almost tempted to say it's worth the price of admission, by itself. This is, by far, the best organized, best assembled, best presented Photoshop course I've seen. I just wish I'd encountered Ben, back when he was actually writing Ps books. Would have saved me much aggravation.

Really enjoyed the course but wasn't able to catch all of it so I bought the DVD's including his next class. Everything he covered was very detailed and I will be referring to the DVD's a lot in the future. I was impressed with the use of curves as the lessons I've taken at my photo club do not use them much and it looks like an extremely useful too. Looking forwards to the April class.
