13 Incredible Crafters We Found During National Craft Month

national craft month

To celebrate National Craft Month in March, we wanted to recognize and reward all the creative, beautiful, fun, and inspirational things our audience whips up on a regular basis. We also wanted to find some new crafters to follow on Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest!

The campaign, #MakeMarch, was a way of showcasing all of the month’s creative ventures — and it was also a contest to win a $1000 gift card to build the craft room of your dreams. The field was deep, but fortunately, we weren’t forced to choose; our winner was picked at random.

We saw thousands of entries from incredible makers and doers during National Craft Month, and we were so impressed with the entries. Their pretty pictures really inspired us to stay crafty all year long, so we wanted to share some of our favorites – we hope you find them as inspiring as we did.

To start out: Our lucky #MakeMarch winner. As you’ll see after browsing her Instagram, Nicole is doing really incredible things with her textiles and stamping techniques. Follow along with her and her family, and of course stay tuned to see what she does next with her winnings!

We love hand-lettering, and what’s better than hand lettering great mantras. Check out Adina Segal’s work and get inspired to make your world a more positive, productive one.

Spring is finally here, and we’re sure you’re itching for adventure! Rose Freeman’s mugs are absolutely perfect for weekend camping trips.

This fuzzy painting of a shaggy highland cow makes him look like he’d be the best thing to cuddle with in all of Scotland. This is just one of so many great watercolor paintings during #MakeMarch, great work Sandy!

While it wasn’t possible for a CreativeLive employee to win the #MakeMarch prize, we still encouraged our team to partake in the fun. Here’s one from Studio Manager Mike Oncley.

These miniature taco earrings looked good enough to eat. Great work Jessica!

Here’s a great #MakeMarch entry from Stephanie, showing what it looks like to get started on a woven tapestry.

Not everyone has a green thumb, but it’s possible for just about anyone to make a simple sprout grow.

#MakeMarch wasn’t just about creating cool crafts – in this case, it was about creating cool cocktails. Connie Kurtew made us thirsty for this Old Fashioned in a big way.

Analog is alive and well with our audience. Case in point: Lea of Love Me Simply Photography.

It’s almost sandal season and these jellies from Annie Ashley are an adorable example of what crafting can do for your wardrobe.

Maria Featon’s cross-stitched Frida Kahlo is not only beautifully executed, we were impressed by her use of vintage sheets.

#MakeMarch gave us insight into what materials go into a project, like this snap from Lisa Gutierrez.

National Craft Month is only 31 days long, and there’s no way we could showcase all of the amazing work we saw on a daily basis. Our audience is full of incredible crafters, photographers, designers, and makers – take a peek at more of their work and get inspired to #Make2015 your most creative year yet.
