Compression & EQ Master Class with Graham Cochrane

After I took this course my mixes began to really sound better, and after learning more tricks and trying out new things and practice they are amazing, and I am very comfortable and happy with the results. Graham is a great teacher, great musician and singer too, we are so fortunate for his contribution to the music community.

Over a dozen of tutorial I've seen about compressors, this lesson about compressors is by far the best, you'll learn here what Ratio, Threshold, Release, and Attack really do, after I seen this lessons I was able to use any compressor.

A great class to learn the fundamentals of EQ and power of it. A great tool for the people starting on and also to the pros as a refreshment and a share of opinions and experiences.

The most practical music purchase I've made this year. In the past I shyed away from using much EQ and compression assuming my lack of knowledge with them would cause more harm than good. I love these classes! Graham is an compressor and EQ himself when it comes to teaching as he glues all of the content taught together. You won't find a better teacher. Love the simple approach Graham uses. I've been a subscriber to his blog for a long time, and he does not disappoint there, or in this course! This is worth buying if you are newer or would like some refreshers, since Graham goes into the theory and application behind compression and EQ. Great work, as always!

This was an awesome course! Graham uses a common sense method of teaching that isn't bloated with technical jargon, but does give you what you need to know. I appreciate that he challenges me/us to try out non-conventional methods and above all to "use our ears!". I tried probably a billion times, to understand how to use the EQ practically. And it';s safe to say that, this course made it clear to me, how to use it in any given situation, whether you mix rock, pop, rap, or whether you have 100, 50, 10, or just 3 tracks in the mix! Graham is an excellent teacher, he is so well prepared for any question he is given, so he can answer the question in such a way, that anyone can reflect to the answer. Without overestimating, I probably earned at least 10000% more in these 2 days, than I did last year at an expensive education! If you wanna learn about EQ, and you wanna buy the EQ class, you will be smart for buying it, and even stupider for not buying compression class, because these 2 classes will really take your mixes to the next level, without bullshitting!

If you are looking for someone to breakdown the EQ section your DAW in a clear no-nonsense manner, as well as provide great advice on when and how to use it and sometimes when NOT to use it, then this class is for you! I watched both the compression and the EQ master class, and have several comments to make. First Graham is an excellent teacher, he does a great job of explaining things in a way that anyone can understand. He covers a lot of information in both classes so for many people it would be worth the price of buying the videos. I do wish he would have spent more time talking about more advanced compression techniques. I also wish he would have talked about other ways of getting similar results for those who do not have the options that he has. Things like stacking compressors via re-tracking, I also wish he would have spent more time talking about things like side chain compression, he only briefly talked about it. However if you do not understand compressors or are just inexperienced then you could probably learn a lot as he does cover all the basics real well. To me I didn't learn much about the technical aspects of either compression or EQ, but that could be because I already know a lot I guess, but I loved hearing his philosophies toward EQ, compression and general work flow. I got a lot of confirmation in that what I am doing is the right path, as most of what he does I am all ready doing, so it was good to know that at least there is someone successful doing things the same way. He does have some basic common sense tricks that for many may be a real eye opener. Things like using subtractive EQ, and using HPF, and the use of reference tracks are great advice, and he explains why these things are so important in a very articulate, professional way that anyone could understand. Graham is very professional, very articulate, very personable, and does a great job of explaining things. However it you have much experience and you understand how to use a compressor and you understand why you should use reference tracks, a HPF and other things like that, then you might not learn anything, but if you are not that experienced, or you do not understand how a compressor works, or the proper way of using EQ, then this is the class for you and Graham is the teacher to explain all this stuff in simple terms. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is seeking this knowledge.
