Comprehensive, well thought out and organized. I have heard the basics before, but not to this depth. Lindsay definitely knows her stuff! And there was enough reinforcement without overdone repetition to drill in the material. I feel much more confident with the topic and feel like I could handle some problem-solving on location. Now I just need to get out there and practice!

The presenter is very knowledgeable and entertaining and his insights are helpful. This is more of a problem-solving course than straight-forward textbook instruction for beginners. So I would supplement this with someone who goes over all the basics in more depth if you're starting from zero. But for breaking down how to get creative images outside of the comfort of the studio, this course is hard to beat.

Great class and pack full of information. I have been looking at her master courses on lighting and to be honest I went with this course as sort of a test run to see her teaching style and methods before going with the master classes and I am sold. Her method is not egotistic, if you know what I mean, and she gets right to the point and doesn’t waste your time with useless information. Best of all, she will give you the tools so you can come up with your own creative ideas and not just photo lighting recipes to follow as if you were following a cookbook recipe. Try it, you will like it.

I find that using a photography flashlight with a dimmer and various light temperatures renders better results.

This course was fantastic! Pye is an incredible teacher. He knows not only his stuff, but also how to explain it and make it simple for the beginner. I knew very little about flash photography when I started, and I'm no pro now, but I understood all the bases and am ready now to start working on it. I can't wait to start trying all this stuff out! I also loved that he is very engaging and funny, making the course interesting and easy to follow without getting bored. I definitely recommend this!

An okay session with snippets buried throughout. Lots of enthusiasm which is great but I would appreciate more substantive explanations of the trouble shooting, the settings, the reasons. Perhaps 90 minutes of solid material and as mentioned in another review, the equipment is a bit dated so perhaps time for an undate.

One major drawback for me, too many interruptions from the lady to the far side, this slowed down the process and created a stop go feel to the process.
It felt as if she was competing with Lindsay for attention.

I have watched a lot of classes and tutorials on lighting and this is the best of them all. So much information about all aspects you need to know to become a light master. Thank you!

There is good content here, but Roberto's explanations of how lighting works is really, really poor. It is difficult to watch, it is so bad.

Great course. Mike is terrific at explaining everything really well. I have been asked to shoot at a charity function and have never done this before. I'm feeling much more confident now.

I have watched John as an assistant for many years, discovering him as an instructor has made the world right again. One of my subjective measures of an instructor here on CL is watching the interaction between the instructor and John as assistant. People like Tony Corbell interact heavily with John and frequently call him out to speak during their class, I love this. Other instructors are less engaging with hm and ultimately I find I dont enjoy that class as much.
This class by John himself was incredibly enjoyable not just for his demonstrations but for learning about a wonderful human being and talented photographer.
Please please get John in front of the camera more!

Excellent workshop Mike has an excellent style to always keeps you engaged and up to date on his camera/flash settings. There is no shortage of knowledgeable instructors who scream right by their settings, i.e. a key factor for the learning photographer. Mike will take a moment and explain how he 'builds' his settings, always explaining the settings and the whys. Outstanding. How, his one-handed MacGyvor macro flash technique, while impressive, just doesn't work for me as I can never hold things steady enough to take the shot :-) Something to aspire to? Highly recommend this course. Thank you

Peter Hurley kept the class moving, describing his style of headshots. I did find it to be a bit repetitive in the material, however he was building on his style, explaining and expanding. Not always the way I would set-up and go with every headshot gig, but a good starting place, especially if shooting multiple headshots, and the customer(s) want a uniform look.

I have an upcoming event where I will shoot small groups of people. This class was very useful. I will be this knowledge to immediate use. Lindsay explains the details of lighting so it makes sense and can be used in the field.
I definitely recommend this class.

Loved everything about this whole course and all the little nuggets of wisdom, knowledge, things to keep an eye out for, the finer details!! It made me realize some of the areas I had went wrong in the past and how to trouble shoot those and carry it across into my other work as well! Thank you so much Peter!

This is such a timeless class. Kelly is a great speaker and truly inspiring; she definitely got my gears turning simply by watching her class.
