There is so much to absorb and unpack. Ilise is a wealth of knowledge and encouragement for anyone going into freelancing. Lots of VERY practical information. Watched it as a live stream event and was overflowing with information by the end of the day (and brain dead). It's well worth your time and $$ spent!

Excellent instructor with concepts sorely needed by creatives lacking business skills. One of the most important courses of the hundred I’ve purchased. If I can master and integrate this material, it will be life changing for my business and personal life.

I love how much this course is tailored for creatives. Ilise pretty much addresses everything one needs to know about running your business and goes over all the issues one can expect to encounter. There are plenty of examples that you can apply yourself and you are left with all the tools you need to take the business further.

Money/pricing & negotiating are things I struggle with and there is plenty of very valuable information in the class and extra goodies. I watched several sections of this Live before I took the leap to purchase and I am very glad that I did. If you are debating about purchasing check out the free preview on Elevator Pitch. That should give you a good taste of what is there. Some sections of the course don't apply to me but the parts that do are well worth the price of the class in my opinion.

O M G. I have been listening and taking notes, but couldn’t hear some of the lessons I really need... So I’ll be signing up for On-Demand Access. All I can say is that this is sooooo much more than just commanding the fees I deserve-it’s EVERYTHING I’ve come to believe I need to reboot my design business (or find something else to do that’s related?), which has been in the dumps for way too long. I lOVE Ilise and already knew her and her work before this. I am so grateful to be able to take this class here. There wasn't a place to for class discussion so I wanted to put this here. In regards to networking, two things worked for me. A) I joined and was a member of a BNI (Business Network International) chapter for one year where I went to every meeting and every class for the sole purpose of learning to be a good networker and it really helped me. B) I have got a lot of work from volunteering for organizations I care about. I didn't go there looking for work, but it came about later because I was the web/graphics person for these volunteering gigs so people saw my work and work ethic and then later hired me as projects came up. This is a long term tactic, though.

At a time when information is abundant, it's hard to sift out the most useful nuggets, much less figure out how to apply them meaningfully. But never fear: Ilise does that for you. Unlike so many consultants who hoard what they know, reserving their expertise for their highest-paying clients, she shares highly relevant information, casting the widest possible net. I just viewed the session on how to research and identify clients--and what I learned is helping me move from a scattershot approach to a strategic one: just what I needed as I embark on my new business venture. "Ah-ha" moments in this webinar for sure! This course provides the clear, simple but very effect ways of handling a variety of situations. She tells you how to say it! Not really being sure how to reply to certain people or situations in the past have been a problem for me in the past, but putting Ilise's tips and advice into action, that will not be a problem in the future.

I'm glad Ilise decided long ago to mentor creatives instead of accountants, because this class has been an enormous help to me. Watching her interact with the in-studio students and those on the chatroom drove home how different we all are and made clear that Ilise's teaching will touch every student in a different way. For myself, I know there were some sections that were more important to me than others, but that could change as I get better in the areas where I need the most help. Having the downloaded videos available forever means I will be able to re-watch the sections that become more important to me as my needs change. That's a long-winded way of saying that no matter where you are in the marketing of your creative business, you will find something here you can apply right now that will make your marketing/prospecting/proposing/deal-closing better. I've started putting the lessons into action and can envision a not too distant future in which my self-marketing will shift from being an accident to a process. I always sign up for classes looking for that "ah-ha!" moment and don't think it's an unfair expectation to have, but I've yet to find a class that resonates with me in such a way. This did slightly help me to start looking at my own website through the eyes of viewers rather than how I'm used to seeing it, but really, it was something I knew for quite a while prior but was avoiding diving into. Aside from that, I don't feel like I had the great takeaways that everyone else had in their reviews. If you're signing up for this class expecting to literally be told specific hourly or value-based pricing dollar amounts, or to talk specific numbers, you'll be disappointed... no specific fees are actually discussed. All actionable steps are from downloadables that you have to work out on your own. As with most online classes, the topic itself was discussed in a broader sense for the majority of the class and I think the "command the fees you deserve" part was actually only a brief section on Day 3 with all of the other stuff helping you get there, but in a broader sense. I'm reading through all of the positive reviews, so I attribute mine as it's gotta be me, not you and that I'm not the right student for this online style of teaching. I've taken many online classes over the years and haven't connected with anything just yet. That said, I still think this class still has value for the right student, but if you relate to anything I've said, then you'll probably have a similar experience. John was a great moderator and really included the online students. I've taken other classes where very long amounts of time could go by without the moderator including them.

The information I learned in this class was right on point. Ilise talked about the importance of your Linkedin title mine was not very descriptive. I re-wrote it based on what I learned in the class and within 3 days I was asked to connect with arch/build firm looking for a new web designer. I wrote a proposal again based on what I learned in the class, adding a timeline, bio and testimonials to the project objective & costs that I usually comprise my proposals. I followed the advice to not just email the proposal but to make an appointment to send and go over the proposal. I got the job on that phone call and it was the most I ever charged for a site! This is the third live presentation I've watched on Creative Live but I have to say this was the best. The information Ilise provided was exactly what I needed. Thank you Ilise!

Outstanding course! Good solid information presented in an engaging but straightforward manner. Ilise addresses some of the universal difficulties associated with the uncomfortable tasks of self-portion, difficult customers, etc. and gently pulls you out of your comfort zone to help you deal with them effectively. I've taken a number of Creative Live courses. They have all been great, but this is the first I've purchased. I know I'll need to refer to it again and again as I build my business.
