Fundamentals of Photography

With the right Adobe® Photoshop® know-how and studio shoot experience, you can merge fact and fiction into a reality that lives up to your imagination. Renee Robyn has made a career of turning everyday photos from her travels into eye-catching images. Robyn will teach you how to add people and other elements to your existing landscape photos using ethereal custom effects. In this class you’ll learn:
Covers the whole process & I enjoyed it as a primer for further study. Biggest takeaway is the importance of perspective and atmospheric depth in composites which promted further study. If I am not mistaken I met Renee at an Amsterdam Art fair. Her work on display was very impressive
Renee is an amazing teacher. Relatable, down-to-earth, and inspiring. She has successfully changed the way I look at the world around me for the better. After taking this class I feel excited and ready to dive into the art of composite photography. The endless possibilities!! The negative reviews here made no sense to me. At first, I thought, 'These people can't be pleased!" then I thought, "...perhaps the subject matter is a little advanced for beginners?" and then I realized, a review usually has more to do with the reviewer than the reviewee. In all, if you're thinking about venturing into composite photography - TAKE THIS CLASS!
I know I’m super late to the game but Renee is simply amazing. Such raw talent and makes the daunting task of pro compositing exciting, informative and accessible to the novice and expert alike.
Renee is a talented creator, and she covers a lot of ground in this course. It was amazing what she was able to create given the source material (which I would have passed on myself, not seeing the potential). Given that, the pieces she assembled clearly were done quickly for the audience and in no way represented her best work. It would have been more rewarding to see her break down some of her more awe-inspiring (and challenging) work. Audience questions were appropriate and not a distraction.
I have completed many creative courses. This is by far the best so far. Quite the most amazing and inspiring presenter with a true passion for their craft. The core information is excellent, but the thing i liked most were her subtle tangents, dropping incredible information completely on the fly. A complete real world honest view of business and practical side of the industry. Especially her advice on how she started to her business. Saving up enough in her day job so she could pay the rent, and do photography for 3-6 months.
this is my second course from Renee, she is very informative. this course is one of her smaller class compare to to the one I have prior love her composition /fantasy ... Very easy to follow
Wow!! While I may not want to do exactly what Renee does, it really opened my eyes to what's possible. I love her work and her process! Thank you! One of the most important things I learned is to match the lighting, perspective, focal point, color temperature, etc., of all the elements you composite. I learned more I don't know yet about lighting and process. wow!
I have watched many tutorials on Compositing. I always get something different from them. Renee has a lot of very cool tricks and techniques that I'll use for sure. I love her passion and creativity. Great class!!! I hope to learn more from her in the future. It's also great to learn that she's a fellow motorcyclist. :)
Renee is Awesome and very informative. I bought the class and I have learned so much. I love your work. I hope to see more classes from Renee!
This is one of the most informative and inspirational classes I've taken on CreativeLive thus far! Renee is an excellent teacher who surely knows her subject. I will be going back to the content of this course as I try to work on my own composites. I paid $49 for this course on sale and I can't think of any other type of education that gives as much value. Overall fantastic!
This was such a great class! Learned a lot. Love Renee's teaching style.
Wonderful course! Renee is an amazing teacher. CreativeLive, please make more courses with Renee!
Renee is awesome! I've been intrigued by her work from the moment I first saw one of her images. Her personality is great, and her tutorials are amazing! I hope CL brings her back for more tutorials!
Great Course. Renee is a great teacher and a great artist. I would definitely buy another course that Renee taught. Renee seems fun and down to earth. Renee is a master. Thanks to CreativeLive for having her and thanks to Renee for teaching.
The class is great and Renee's work is fantastic! Love her sensitivity and outlook on life! If you want to see a start to finish composite, this class is for you.
Very good class. I enjoyed the very friendly, approachable and quirky style Renee teaches with. I did feel, as others have said that she could get off on bunny trails and tell stories and I was glad for Creative Live's option to speed up the video. But great tips and it was extremely helpful watching it how she would do it. Thank you much Renee, and also, I'm a PC user that unites with you.
I have watched this class over and over and learned something new each time. Love Renee's personality, love of her style, and love her love of composite!
Really loved this class. I'd seen a previous class with Renee, and so knew going in that this one was going to be exceptional, and I wasn't disappointed. I love her teaching style, her fun, quirky humor, her delight in what she's doing, and her incredibly encouraging vibe. Highly recommend.
Absolutely one of the best classes I've seen. Renee has a unique way of seeing the world that comes across as a very encouraging "you can bend the rules, have fun". Whether you're brand new to the concept of compositing images, or have been using photoshop a while, she lays down some unique ways of using ordinary photoshop tools while also squirreling off on tangents that encourage viewers to research everything else she says. My library is about 4 books heavier because of this course! This changed the way I look at photoshoots now and has completely enabled me to explore topics and subject matter that would be nearly impossible to do entirely within camera. If you're unsure about it? Just get it. You will learn enough in the first 25 videos alone to make it worth the cost.
Renee, like every other artist I have viewed doing this type of work, has a unique approach to her work. There are of course some similarities in the basics but the creative eye, the personal viewpoint and interpretation is unique to her experiences and heart. For that reason I have been collecting the various artists that have been offered on Creative Live. Not to copy their style but to study. The same as going to a museum and studying specific artists paintings. As I have been learning how they see their subjects I learn more about how I do or do not look at the same subjects. Renee stands firm in who she is and it shows in her work. I very much enjoyed watching her process. Thank you Renee and Creative live for having a cross section of different artist for us to learn from. I think it enriches all of us. Oh, and Renee, Thank you again for your time and talent.
Great course, Renee is down to earth and her class is easy to follow.
I watched this on LIVE class, Uff so much helpful info, she went for a lots of details while she was editing that I wished I can remember all of it, also I liked the simple uses of light. Thanks much!
Renee has some awesome images and it is neat to follow how she put them together. but I found it even more interesting to discover, step by step as her image unfolds, from photos to composite, thru image.... that she planned it out all in her head before even starting. She though of where the horizon would be or what angle the person would be, and what angle light, and how to match in the studio what would be in the outdoor background shots. At times she rambled a bit but over all very engaging and definitely informative. Wanda Canfield
Renee is smart and shares her experience and expertise in a fun and interesting way. She lays out the good ways to do composite work and warns you of the pitfalls she has dealt with so you don't have to have the same hassles.
This course offered one the opportunity to spend time with someone who has worked and is working extremely hard at always becoming an even better artist. She is very compassionate about her work, very sweet, and very willing to share her knowledge. Great course.
